I have known people like this... Very impulsive, make big purchases they can't afford. I also worked at a rent to own place for a while. People come in and buy 4k worth of furniture and appliances, and then 2 wks later want to return it for a full refund. I understand why the plaintiff won and got back the $500, but I don’t agree, it was their fault that they changed their minds, and the defendant’s should’ve sold their vehicle cheaper since they already had $1,600 that was towards the vehicle, but they got greedy thinking they could get away with more money.

A deposit typically is non-refundable to make absolutely sure the buyer is going to purchase the item or property. The seller takes it off the market in consideration of the deposit.
I think the only reason the courthouse interviewer was nice to the Plaintiff is bcuz he’s scared for her, since she has to go home to the bf. That interview would have gone significantly different if Judge Milan had asked her if she knew about the texts
