Plzzzzz, the low Clarinets always go lower than their Saxophone counterpart. Bb Bass Clarinet has the same fundamental pitch as a Tenor Sax but it can go ALMOST one octave lower with the Bb extension. Got to get a BariSax with an extension to hit that same low concert Bb. That disparity continues on as the Clarinets and Saxophones get bigger.

The middle register on the bass clarinet is thin, and if you push the notes, you get a squeak. The models with two register holes (one on the neck) are easier to play in the middle register. The altissimo register, right up to high C, is louder and easy to play.
If you are playing with a drummer, you need a mike, or he will drown you out.

@@tommyblack7998 Bass Clarinets with the concert pitch C&1 & Bb&1 extensions aren't cheap either tbh. The lowest Contra-Alto I've seen goes to concert pitch F-0. Either way the Contra-Alto has a wider bore and larger bell which is why it has an even deeper warmer sound. And unlike the reedy scratchy Bass, the Contra-Alto sounds magnificent playing Alto & Soprano pitches.

Why is your bass clarinet so big bro bass clarinets are meant to be played sitting down I can’t tell if your like 4,5 or yours is just really skinny

Because this is a Low C bass clarinet, it has 3 extra notes so it's longer than standard ones :)
It has the same diameter though

In my opinion, I like the Bari Sax better but the bass Clar and the Bari Sax is one of the best low reed duos

For me, in the low register the bari sax is more punchy and present, while the bass clarinet is more smooth. Two different usages :) .
But when I put a Fibracell reed in my bass clarinet I found the sound to be a lot brighter and closer to a saxophone... This gave me a video idea ! I'll shoot a little comparison :)
