    I am enjoying this series! Thanks for sharing your process. It is most always sad to see trees come down. But, I'm sure that it had to happen otherwise you wouldn't have had it done. Cheers!

    So much room with the trees gone for sure. But yes will need your privacy, need to put some trees up by the fence. The progress is coming along quite nice. A lot of work ahead.

      John Granter You're right there John. Once the house goes up (and maybe a little sooner) we'll tackle those privacy trees. Have to see how much money we have left….if any. Cheers mate

    "watch your tootsies" you said in that video, stuff that look out where your walking more like it, as it won't just be wood chips getting sprayed out that machine.
    Anyone got any people they don't like? eg mother in law ha ha.
    On a serious note great video Shane, I have enjoyed this owner builder series looking forward to the before and after shots, don't envy you doing them slabs though but just think of the great house and garden at the end of all this.
    Watch that back mate.
    Thanks.

      Barry Roberts Yeah the stump grinder is a pretty gnarly bit of kit Barry. You wouldn't want to stumble into it :-) We had a crack at the slabs today. Stay tuned for the video. Cheers mate

    Hey Shane, a shame about the trees. GREAT tip to be pro active with your suppliers. Keep them on their toes to make sure YOUR timeline is met.
    Keep the vids coming.
    Wish I was there to help you!! (just kidding)

    Sounds like you are onto it with your programming mate, are you using a construction schedule to keep track of the critical dates, or the good old fashioned diary? Its looking awesome by the way, making me itchy to start stage two of ours...

    • @diyforknuckleheads
      @diyforknuckleheads  9 лет назад

      Our Build Thanks James. Construction what???? :-) Na l have a rough schedule..mostly in the head but l do have all the important dates on paper.. Pretty hard to schedule precisely when l have such a short period of time each day to get anything done…l'm sure you know what l'm talking about. The day just goes so quick!! What does stage two comprise for you guys?

    • @diyforknuckleheads
      @diyforknuckleheads  9 лет назад

      Our Build Sorry about the late reply mate but l only just found this in my Spam Folder!! Thanks mate, if you could email me that schedule that would be fantastic. It would be really interesting to compare it to mine.
      Stage 2 sounds full on. Wouldn't it be easy if money wasn't an issue? Cheers mate

    Good looking fence i your backyard. Is that wood? Looks like steel.

    • @diyforknuckleheads
      @diyforknuckleheads  9 лет назад

      Charles Lambeth It's Colorbond Steel Charles. It comes in a range of colours. Very easy to install and fairly cheap. Cheers

    The trees were all at the perimeter of the property. Are you allowed to build right to the property line? Just asking.

    • @diyforknuckleheads
      @diyforknuckleheads  9 лет назад

      peggyt1243 Yes you can build to the perimeter if you meet certain guidelines but the reason we cut them down was that they were going to cause a bit of damage to the new building in the not to distant future….especially the fig tree as they grow to an enormous size. Cheers

    G'day Knakers, it's looking good mate. One question, how did you manage to knock down the tree without the tree huggers cracking the s....ts?

    • @diyforknuckleheads
      @diyforknuckleheads  9 лет назад

      Wayne Jones G'day Wayne….didn't tell them mate LOL. In all seriousness, the council weren't to concerned with it due to the voracious nature of the tree. It would have ended up causing all types of structural issues so cutting it down was the best option. Cheers mate and thanks for watching.

    I still hear birds chirping in the background after the tree lopping. Chirping, or maybe cussing?

    Noooooooo!!!! Poor trees, I hope you kept some of the trunk to make something as a momentum of its earth life. 😒
