Looks like a great trip, we have yet to get to Opeongo. However, we a really excited to get there soon. We arent sure about you two, but we are looking forward to some warm weather and getting back onto some open water.

Us too! We have our first trip planned for late April to Sucker Lake in Kawartha Highlands. A nice easy one to start the season. Thanks!

Beautiful trip that anyone can do. Can you tell us how much the water taxi cost? I have braved that big lake in an open canoe and I won't do it again. Thanks for sharing.

The water taxi is quite expensive if you are only 1 or 2 people as there is a MINIMUM cost. I think it was around $100ish....and that's only 1 way! Of course the more people on a run the cheaper it becomes per person. Opeongo is such a large lake and it's around 16 kms to paddle to the north end which tends to be a little quieter And since the lake can be notoriously windy I decided the costs were worth it as the taxi gets us out to a site in about 20 mins...with the added benefit the boat driver can bring you from site to site quickly while searching for something suitable. Sadly you can't book a specific site on Opeongo which means that if it's a busy long weekend you could possibly have to do a LOT of paddling to find an empty site.
