While Grandma chic isn't quite my style (I'm more light academia/goblin core) I really applaud when people, especially 'influencers' publicly and unabashedly move away from the minimalist modern farmhouse. I'm not sure when everyone decided we all have to have homes look exactly like everyone else's, I love it when people's spaces are galleries of self expression!
I don’t think this style ever left us here in south Louisiana. Most older upscale homes still look like these rooms. Especially New Orleans area older homes. I love it!
I think it’s just making a come back….Like the whole 90s fashion is coming back.
I rather this than the 90s style fashion even though I am a 90s kid. 🤣
We have a small town called petoskey in Michigan and there are so many vintage homes and they are all this style inside, I love looking at them…these homes are seasonal and in the summer it so lively.
I LOVE Ballard Designs. I feel like with every catalog they send, I want to redecorate my entire house. 😂 Their styling and fabric & furniture designs are beautiful.
Ok I’m just going to say it. Your classic little earrings and collared sweater is about a perfect match for this video. You are such a babe Ang ❤
thanks for noticing ;)
@@angela.braniff I also noticed in this video how perfect your eyeliner is. I struggle SO much with liners. What are you using?
Of course she is perfectly adorned, down the deets! 🥰
I love that you have a sweater that fits the style!
Well said, "The 90s were a long time ago, I'm now accepting that."
You got me laughing and crying at the same time..
😬
I am 100% a Grandmillennial. This style speaks to my heart ❤️
Glad to see that classic decor is being appreciated by modern generations. The furniture and decor is much better made than current styles. A good form of recycling vintage heirlooms.
I don’t care much for granny decor but I love me a good old granny nap 💤
Oh man I am busting up, I’m also accepting finally the 90s were a while ago 😂 my grandmother was my ultimate style inspiration with bold fabrics and wallpapers, beautiful wood and layered textures. Thanks for sharing this and good luck in decorating!
I tried the minimalist thing… but my personal collocations of vintage,* antiques, and all the lovely things I inherited the past few years from southern Mother and Grandmother said no 😂. I didn’t know my style had a name until someone told me that’s how I decorate. I truly love it ❤
I find I'm drawn to this in a cape cod/lakehouse/backwoods cabin/old fashioned farm/english cottage kind of way. 🤪 It makes sense in my head anyway.
I love this style! My husband and I love visiting Savannah and we live in a small historic NC town, so it suits our styles well! I knew i wanted to incorporate a southern traditional/Savannah/Charleston/well-traveled design into our home, but I never knew quite how to blend it all. This style is a great guide!
Yes to coastal, traditional, blue, green and white, wicker, bamboo, chinoiserie ❤
YES! I call this cottage core! I've always had this style and didn't know it had a fancy name! Ha!
My house is an 1896 Victorian and this is sort of the way I have decorated it. I am so happy to have a name for it! I am 71 today (2-14) so I am also a vintage granny (except I’m a Nana 🤣). I have many things that belonged to my grandparents and parents that fit this style so well!
I would adore a shop with you video!
Happy birthday! 🎂🥳🎈🎁
Happy birthday!!! 🖤
Happy birthday! 🎉
Happy birthday 🎉🎉🎉
Happy belated birthday!
Oh my, antique shopping is what I do on Friday's. Speaking of lamps, I just found the most beautiful vintage lamp for my bedroom. It is a prayer answered!
It is a very cozy but open style because there is texture and pattern, but it’s all still light and airy, white backgrounds, calm happy colors. Nothing so dark and weighing down. I cannot handle a dark home haha so I do kind of love this!
sounds like the golden girl set look. :) for your Grandma
I’ll be 40 next year and thought I was the only one my age who loved this theme 🥰
This is totally my style. I’ve never had a specific name for it, so thank you! I’ve been decorating this way for years, just didn’t know what it was called.
This comment is me too! It's nice to be able to name it. 😁
Yes. Kelly Clarkson is killing it on wayfair. Also, I hope everyone who loves florals will try Amaryllis bulbs in their house. It's a very "old timey" flower bulb that will make you so happy.
My Nanna always had amaryllis, I have them yearly in honour of her!🥰
I am so glad to see I’m not the only one who enjoys color! I would love to see a shop with you and see a room come to life from start to finish❤
My granny is very chique and her house looks so much like this, I’ve always loved her style. She mixed older antiques with more art deco things effortlessly.
I am interested in decorating grandmillennial style and also opening my own online store selling grandmillenial decor and this video was so helpful!! Thank you!
Love it!!! Can’t wait to see your newly decorated home with this style
Decor shopping videos are among my favorites!! Love this style
💙
I LOVE WALPAPER! I'm so excited to put some in my bookcases for a pop of print.
.....Being older ( in my 60's) ...I was doing this " Style " for DECADES, because it feels Comfortable, Cozy and lends itself to a type of Elegance that is NOT stuffy, or " untouchable " furnishings. I had this Style when my daughters were growing up , and I even had people who came into my home ,ask me who I had used " to help decorate my home ".. I just smiled, ... said thank you, .." it was all me " . This is s t i l l my Decor Style... I love Birds, Rabbits,.. I incorporate those into my Decor. ..I use hues that are giving the room " colour " but it's not " overly bright ", ...it's there in certain doses, subtle...but I love using colour. I don't care for the white / cream/ grey " no colour room " ... it feels flat, it feels austere to me. Life has colour... Nature is full of colour...I look to Nature for Inspiration and I did not care for the " ALL the Farmhouse signs" but I do like Vintage signs and such . I'm all about Vintage. I love fringed furniture, down cushions,... unique furniture and soft furnishings. Ballard Designs has been around since the mid 80's , I believe. Prices back then were better, lol. I find many of thier items completely overpriced in this day and time.
Video was great, thank you . I am a new Subscriber,
Yes, I would love going shopping with you videos!
This was so interesting, I’m so glad I finally have a name for the style I love!
I’m here for this! I’ve always been an old soul and now my style in “on trend!”
Loving different pieces of this style. I have been craving more color and coziness in my home as well. I love that this style has lots of weed tones and organic type “boho” style as well with the wicker and rattan.
Yes love the Grandmillenial style! And Id love to see you antiquing! ❤️
Love! Me too. I'm sold on this style. Erin napier from home town decorates like that. I'm obsessed. More videos like this please! 😉
Angie, the color you are wearing today is 100 compliment to you👐. Vintage truly coming back. I have been looking for a round 54 inch Vintage/ antique table for two years plus😵💫
I've been trying to figure out what my style of home decor is. Thank you for helping me. You described my taste perfectly. Also, I'm absolutely in love with your blouse.
My family lived outside of Charleston when I was growing up. I love that low country style!
I am on round two of wallpaper samples. Thanks for the encouragement to follow my heart and embrace my grandma chic ways yet again.
You are so welcome!
Antiquing with me YES PLEASE! I don’t have much access to antiquing where I live so I would DIE to see some of the southern antiquing action !
Lol I had never heard of this.till you said it and I looked it up. It is definitely something that I have always been drawn too.
Angie I think you nailed it on this style. It’s perfect for your beautiful home. I’m excited to see the downstairs transform. I love all your kids rooms, somehow though I missed the redo of your older daughters room, hope I can find it.
Thank you so much! I'm haven't uploaded their video yet, the room is like 90% done and I hesitate to put up part one and then have it be a few more weeks until part two .... maybe I'll put it up anyway!
So this is the style I grew up with. Estate Auctions are a great way to find amazing deals on a budget.
I most def want to shop along with you. Love watching all your videos and love this style. ❤
Oh girl! Please take us antiquing with you! My fella and I LOVE to go antiquing as often as we can. I have found so many treasures with him. My great-grandmother had a pink depression glass cookie jar, Manhattan style. I have collected a whole set of it a piece at a time. I don't know what my style is, vintage, boho, cottage, my daughter calls me it old grandma LOL! Im ok with that, Ive always been an old grandma at heart :).
I love this! I'm right in between english cottage and grandmillennial.
This is very much my style! I didn’t know what it was called, but it’s definitely me to a T! I love color, and I love classic, cozy, and put together design. My grandmother, who was from New Orleans, and who was an artist, raised me, and all she had was beautiful, colorful antiques. I miss being surrounded by all of the beauty she had in her home, it was inspiring💖
This is so me! I love to look at farmhouse and modern and minimalist decor, but I can’t live in it. I need lots of color and patterns, it just makes me happy. I have tons of my great-grandmas paintings/decorations that I’ve incorporated…not my grandma though…she loved 1990’s southwest style…not my thing. 😅
haha! Yes, it's not always so easy to add those things in :)
I love Ballard Design but can’t afford it 😂. You described exactly how I would like to decorate my house if I could. Thank you for sharing.
Would love a vlog of you going antiquing 🙂 thanks for the fun content!
This is GORGEOUS
I absolutely LOVE this style! For those who have a ton of the farmhouse style, you can transform many of them into this style for a base. Re-stores, Goodwill's, those type of places are also reaping the merchandise from transitions in style without the high price tags.
I would love to go with you, @Angie to find treasures. Please!
Amazing video!!!
I love the style. Enjoyed.
I love your hair this length and alao whwn it was shorter. Ive been so envious- then you got extensions 🤣😂 gorgeous bith ways but im partial to the shorter look- just so naturally stylish. 😍
Love bold prints and color
My Nonny (my moms mom) lived in Savanna GA. I feel the same way about her style. She had the cutest plush denim couches. Soft yellow walls with lots of bold florals, birds, baskets. ❤
I love "English Cottage" decor, this seems close to it! Yay! Antique shopping is how I've decorated my home. Have you seen Chateau Diaries on RUclips? They shop at antique stores and auctions to furnish their chateau, and a lot of times, they will show how they refurbish items. Happy decorating Angela!
Thank you for sharing this video! I've been struggling to figure out what my design style would be called, but I see a lot of elements in it in this video. I think I might be a mix of cottage/gran millennial with pastel colors being the queen. 🤔
Shopping with you would be so fun!! ❤️❤️
It is beautiful.
My husband is starting a business and I'm taking care of the kids. On the moment is insane how much everything cost. We must start saving to make this a reality.
I would absolutely love for you to do an antiquing vlog. I always call it treasure hunting. It’s my Fave!
I would love a go antiquing video and more home decorating videos.
This reminds me a lot of the magazines my sisters and I use to fawn over in the late 90s. I decorated my family room in this style. 90% of it is from Facebook marketplace. The sofa was $50 and the coffee table was $20. Great place to shop on a budget of your willing to put a little extra tlc into things since they are used.
This is what I have been looking for❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️, I’m in a rut with brown furniture I hate it!!!!!! Thank you for sharing I would love to go on a shopping excursion with you
Whattt??? This is a thing?? I thought I was the only one. 😂😂 this style happened to me by accident when we moved into my grandmother’s house and were looking for ways to pay tribute with her key pieces and make it our own.
So inspired to make a mood board and redecorate. 😍
mood boards are my love language, lol!
If you haven't heard of Ruth McKeaney, and her book about her home and family, Hungry for Home, I think you would love her and her ideas about decorating, faith, and family, as I feel you are so similar. Plus, I really love the wallpaper in her dinning room, but also that she adorns her walls with her children's artwork, as well as other pictures and phots that mean something to their family. You have a lot in common! All good stuff!
I will check it out!
This is me!! I just didn’t know it had a name!!! I love mixing old with new and I love having my family hand me downs around me!!
Love it!!
I am exactly going for this style! I just had no idea what the name was! ❤️
Hi Angela, I love your videos! You are one of my favourite people to watch on RUclips and I always look forward to your videos on both your channels. :) I would love it if you did a “come Antique’ing with me” shopping video. I do really like those types of videos and I’m really interested to learn more about this Grandmillenial interior decor style, and what items to look for to add more of this style to our home. Thank you! :)
Maybe it could be called Ang’tique shopping 😊
I’m in!!!I didn’t have the name of what I’ve been thinking. I’d love to watch a few videos of you shopping.
I’m LOVING your channel content. It all feels very true parts of yourself. Keep it going Girly!🥰
Yay! Thank you!
Definitely interested an antiquing video!
This is my style lol! I always just assumes it was cottage core😂
Would love a go shop with me video! Love how you are decorating your house
Yay! Thank you!
We inherited my grandmothers house fully furbished and just added all our more modern things we had. So I guess my house has been "grandmillenial" for the last 14 years! good to know it's a style with a name...if I wouldv'e cared about that.
Oooh! I think this is my style! Mixed with a little farmhouse.
I would love to see some videos where you go antiquing! Please post some! 🥰
YES! Do a shop with me!!
I have always loved the traditional style but my husband is drawn to modern, it sounds like this might be a good mix of the 2
I would love “shop with me videos”!
I had no idea this was a style! I love it. ❤ I actually just recently came across your channel and your style caught my attention cause it’s so similar to what I like. So I stuck around. 😊 Thank you for sharing these things! Also we recently (well maybe not so recently anymore lol about six years ago) moved to SC. It’s much different here than AK and HI. Love how historical it is.
Welcome!! SC is definitely growing on me!
Hello Angie the style of the old movies of the 80'S or Alice in wonderland that inspires you fantasy like a house in the tree and you were 6 years old....Nothing arrives in Tenerife in the Canary Islands I have tried to enter wayfair and it is not available where I live or target anything... I have been following you on Pinterest for a long time and your style inspires me a lot I like what is different and not follow trends ...and I'm sorry if I write English wrong...I'm Spanish, regards Angie
I thought part of the draw of Grand Millennial was that you could get a lot of it thrifted instead of new; totally understanding that thrift store mileage varies greatly. Good, sturdy furniture will always cost more. Getting what is cleared out of actual grandparents' homes will still cost you and truly execute on the style.
I appreciate the style for that reason, and always find that new creations to lean into an older style tend to miss the concept. Just like all of the new farmhouse stuff and new mid-century furniture, that just wasn't quite it.
I'm looking forward to watching you curate this look for your home.
Yes please!!!
❤ This style however with a little more nautical. I realize you're not supposed to make too much of a themed room. You look so pretty in your blouse and sweater.
I'm more of a mix of traditional (dark furniture - mahogany) with contemporary grey / Nickel and dark wood. Accent with burgundy/navy blue & grey's (light grey walls, soft white Ceilings) & leftover light beige carpet (can't move the TV cabinet - so I can't do the plank flooring I wanted)
Would love 2 watch a shop with u antique ect!
I’m OUT! I’m already a “Vintage Granny”, so I don’t need my home decor to emphasize the obvious! LOL I’m just joking! The decor is beautiful! But I really am a vintage granny. ❤️😂❤️😂❤️
Love it!!
I saw the home tour when you guys moved in. But I know I have missed a lot. Do have a more recent home tour or walk through??
Nice
Yesss!! Let’s do some antiquing!
Love this! Yes to shopping with you. I watch your vlogs because I enjoy time with you. (Sounds weird now I've typed that!) So, shopping with a girlfriend is fun. (Also sounds weird and stalkery!)
I’m not sure if it is grandmillennial but I have been loving dainty pastel florals or just pastel florals in general and lace for the past few years. Quite a departure from my previous “neutrals and functionality over anything” approach.
Oh, that sound lovely!
This is my style. I didn’t even know it was called this back in 2021 until someone said their style is grandmillennial. Then I was oh… that’s what you call my style?
Try a shopping video. You have great taste!
I'd love to "shop with you". i would love to see the stores there.
I live in England but I find myself drawn to American decorators, my brother recently described my living room as your “Oka living room” and I just wanted to cringe. I’ve since taken it all apart and put back pieces including my illustrator son’s artwork, I don’t want my home to look like the pages of a magazine. Interestingly I loved my grandmother’s house and my children love their grandmother’s mid century style (Danish wall units) and they’re terrified I’ll ditch them. I have promised I won’t. A mix of antique and modern works for me but it has taken many years to realise that aesthetic.
I also live in South Carolina. Where are those antique stores you mentioned.
It looks like a colourful feminine hamptoms style
Love your sweater. Can you link to it please?
Yes! bit.ly/3IzG0Rz it runs small!
