Very good setup overview! That was much better than trying to read the little manual... I'm glad another commenter mentioned, the little packs labeled A, B & C are to shim the receiver to your camera shoe... Cheers!
Very nice review. I just bought one and it will come in a few days. I do have a question (or a few). What are the main differences in recording mono or stereo? Is it what is recorded on local storage or what the RX outputs to the camera? Are maybe the TX1 and TX2 then left and right..? Question 2 - I see there is a gain setting. does that only affect the RX output or also the internal recording?
I hate to admit it, but I've only used single TX recording so far, so I haven't seen how stereo/ dual TX recordings are saved. From my understanding, mono is for single TX and stereo is for dual TX. All my recordings have been indoors, so I haven't had to use the gain increase/decrease yet too. I'm actually at the airport right now on my way to Asia, so I am not able to do a quick test of it. Sorry.
This video I didn't edit the audio. I have had to edit it before, though. I noticed the mic is more sensitive than my previous mics, so I'm becoming more aware of where I place the mic depending on my surroundings. Mic placement has helped with reducing the need for audio editing or the amount of editing. If I need to edit the audio, I usually use the audio editor that comes with DaVinci Resolve. A few times, I have also used Audacity for audio editing.
yeah, thanks for that reply about PC mac...but there is no drive or folder that opens...period...not sure what's happening there, but will keep working on it...I'll try a local PC that I have handy next just to see
Did you try a different cable? That would seem like the likely culprit to me. Or try a different port on the computer? If you're using a hub, remove the hub and try directly to the computer.
I watched the entire video, and you did a great job, but I was watching it to find out exactly how to get the files off of the 2 individual transmitters. I connected them to my mac and it does nothing. There is no folder or drive icon that comes up, and bluetooth sees some kind of device, but it goes away. Got any ideas? thanks.
I don't have a Mac so I can't help you with that. I have a PC and when I plug the usb c cable into the transmitter and open the drive for the transmitter, my audio recordings are in the root folder. I simply copy it off the transmitter and into a folder on my computer. Did you make sure your usb cables are data cables and not just charging cables? Since I don't know Macs, that's about all I can think of to verify what might be the problem.
I found that the device didn't show on my PC initially when I was trying to transfer the files from the device. I eventually figured out that you have to push the cable end in hard until you hear a soft click it then popped up on my PC, so push the cable in a little harder.
Thank you for review. I have read there is a loss of internally recorded audio every 30 minutes of internal recording. Is this true? Also, do you transfer the files to a laptop effortlessly.. as expected?
I actually haven't tried recording long sessions locally, but I'll give it a try and see what happens. I'm on Babson at the moment, and I didn't bring it with me, but when I get home I'll test it. Yea, in my PC, I just plugged it in, and Windows immediately saw it and assigned it a drive letter. The audio files are in the root folder for the transmitter.
So I tested it with an ~3 hour recording. What it is doing is recording for just slightly over 30 minutes (31 minutes 20 seconds), then it ends that file and starts a new file where it continues the recording. So my ~3 hour recording ended up with 6 separate recorded files.
Hi. Excellent review. I bought this mic a few days ago and am facing some issues with the noise cancellation. It gives a lots of hiss sound and isn't there an option to avoid it?
I have noticed the mics are fairly sensitive. Depending on the location of recording, the audio can either sound good or have bad reverb (hollow sounding effect). I've been trying to experiment with placing the mic on different areas around me depending on where I'm recording.
Another person mentioned he was getting static, and after he swapped out the usb cable for a different one, the static went away. You might want to try a different cable and see if that helps.
I actually haven't had the need to use the local recording so I never compared the two. I did test and check and yes, my local recording does seem to be lower in volume compared to what's saved with the video.
@@R-TechEnthusiast Thanks for checking! Another point that could be good to know for users of people considering a buy; I'm happy with the mic and think the sound quality is ok (maybe not always great but good enough) but the included cables are of quite bad quality, stiff, and feel cheap. I had severe issues with static when filming with my Iphone and was very close to returning them but fortunately tested to swap the included cable between the receiver and Iphone since I had one of those cables and the issue went away completely. I could even feel a difference in connecting the cable to the receiver, the fit from the included one felt loose while the other one I hand felt snug och tight.
Little did he know that in a couple of months these mics would become all the rage!
So true. They just seemed like a good mic to buy and give a try at the time. Hehe
Excellent review. 👍
Thank you!
Excellent review! I ordered mine on Amazon.
Thanks! Hope it works well for your needs!
You've did great job! Nice review!

Thanks for the review! I'm going to give it a shot to try with my videos :)

if you want to fit it into your camera hot shoe you need to put those A,B,C gasket stickers to the mic's cold shoe and choose which size accordingly
Yea, i eventually figured that out. Hehe thanks.
You probably figured it out by now, but the the black and white little squares in the baggies are padding to give it a snug fit in the shoe mount.
Ah, good catch. thanks for mentioning that. I forgot all about it.
Did you edit the audio at all? If so whatd you use? Ive noticed other reviews sounding quite muffled?

can you show how it is paired Ulanzi to IOS or Android phone? Thanks.
It comes with a usb c to usb c cable for android and usb c to lightening cable for ios phones.
Thank you for review.

Hi. Excellent review. I bought this mic a few days ago and am facing some issues with the noise cancellation. It gives a lots of hiss sound and isn't there an option to avoid it?
I don't have that issue. Does it appear in the local recordings too?
No. I didn't try the local recording yet.
@@leonfx2009 try a different USB cable as well. Some people complained about the cable being the bad.
USB cable? There's no USB involved! I connect the receiver with the camera using the 3.5mm jack?
@leonfx2009 ah sorry, I assumed it was connected to a phone :) try a different 3.5 cable.
I couldn't get a healthy sound. Even if I'm short, the sound definitely explodes. What could be the reason?
I have noticed the mics are fairly sensitive. Depending on the location of recording, the audio can either sound good or have bad reverb (hollow sounding effect). I've been trying to experiment with placing the mic on different areas around me depending on where I'm recording.
Hi There,
Are you getting white noise when using the mic ?
No, I don't have any white noise in my recordings, either on the video or local recordings...
Another person mentioned he was getting static, and after he swapped out the usb cable for a different one, the static went away. You might want to try a different cable and see if that helps.

Have you notice that the level is much lower when doing a local recording?

only 16bit recording?
Cd quality - 48KHz, 16 bit stereo
Ulanzi audio sounds better that the unboxing audio. You can throw that old microphone away
I sure hope the new mic sounds better. Hehe. I definitely like it better than the old mic I had.
Does it have noise reduction?
Yes, it has noise reduction.
Is the noise reduction turned on by default? If so, can it be turned off?
