Yes, it's possible.... I recommend you go to test it out. I lived there one year, and feel more "at home" there than anyplace on earth; the images are hauntingly familiar and feel like home.

Can a man truly feel nostalgic and homesick towards a place and people he's never been with? What I would not give to walk those paths, speak with the townsfolk and become one with a place the phrase "heaven is a place on Earth" does not begin to do justice to.

The population itself is a bit over 1k but there is a popular anime set in Shirakawa-go and that anime has been out for quite a bit. So due to that and Shirakawa itself looking beautiful I'd guess they probably enjoy seeing people appreciate their town
I visited Shirakawago last late autumn and it was so beautiful. The red leaves meet with snow covered mountains. I felt so peaceful. Hope to be able to return to this pretty village in the future 🤍

Oh....how I have missed these moments... OK, minutes of beauty and serenity these past few weeks while I was traveling from west to east coast here in the U.S. These last two videos, very much alike, yet very different. Both in the high mountains, where yes.....seeing this in a blanket of snow would be fantastic. But be safe in your travels back, snow and ice can be beautiful, but hard to travel in. Love the different "houses" which appear to be historical museums of what was. Just fascinating.. You have once again treated your viewers to the wonders and beauty of this marvelous country. The way the construction is tied together. wauw. these museums remind me of all the museums my parrents took me to as a child. 日本の世界遺産の中でもあまりにも有名で何度もテレビなんかで映像は見るけど、散策という形でこんなにも詳細で細部まで映した映像を見るのは初めてです。それにテレビとは違い観光向けの良い所ばかりを切り取った映像ではなく、ありのままにすべてを見せてくれるAnnaさんの映像はあたかもそこを自身が散策しているかのようなリアル感があります。

I was here in march just before the pandemic hit and it was snowy and really busy :)
Almost all videos like this are filmed early in the morning (5am or so) so the filming wont disturb the villagers out of courtesy.

The way the construction is tied together. wauw. these museums remind me of all the museums my parrents took me to as a child. The items and the arcitecture where different, but it was old everyday items in traditional houses. And by the way thank you for the ropebridges in your resent video, they were beautyful.
