- Korean Rice Bowls
Ingredients
- 400g (14 oz) jasmine rice
- 500g (1.1 lb) beef, cut into strips (ribeye recommended)
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 3 tsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, finely grated
- 2 tbsp gochujang
- 1 cucumber
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- 1 carrot, sliced into matchsticks
- 200g (7 oz) mushrooms, sliced
- 200g (7 oz) baby spinach
- Oil for cooking
- 4 eggs
- Salt
Method
1. Wash the rice three times and place it in a rice cooker or pot. Cook for about 25 minutes or until done.
2. While the rice is cooking, slice the beef and set it aside. In a bowl, make the marinade by mixing 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 teaspoon of sesame oil, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 2 finely grated garlic cloves, and 2 tablespoons of gochujang. Mix well.
3. Marinate the beef with half of the sauce, reserving the rest for later.
4. Prepare the vegetables by slicing the carrots and cucumber. Marinate the cucumber with 1 teaspoon of sesame oil, a pinch of salt, and 1 teaspoon of sesame seeds. Mix well and set aside.
5. Heat a wok or large frying pan over high heat. Add some cooking oil and stir-fry the mushrooms with a pinch of salt for 1-2 minutes until just cooked. Remove from the wok and repeat with the carrots. Once the carrots are cooked, remove from the wok.
6. In a clean wok with a little oil, add the baby spinach along with 1 teaspoon of sesame seeds and 1 teaspoon of sesame oil. Stir-fry quickly until just tender. Remove and set aside.
7. In a clean wok, add some cooking oil and the marinated beef. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes or until just cooked. Remove and set aside.
8. Fry the eggs in the wok until they have crispy edges and runny yolks.
9. To assemble, place the cooked rice in the bottom of a bowl. Add the marinated cucumber, cooked carrots, mushrooms, spinach, and beef on top. Drizzle with the reserved gochujang sauce, and finally, place a fried egg on top. Enjoy your Korean rice bowl!

20min? I would’ve needed half of day alone for the chopping
Yep! U kno dis! 🤣🤣🤣
Bro!😭😭
dont believe everything they say
not to mention the cleanup
Skill issue
Made this for the family tonight. Everyone loved it. Added sliced yellow bell pepper and made some toffu marinated like the beef for vegetarian daughter. Outstanding! Thanks Chef!
Andy 😢 you make it all look so easy. Took me 52 minutes
You're doing great 👍
That's actually impressive 👏
It took me longer, so congrats! 😂❤
see now that's actually a flex 💪🏼
Your timing is dyslexic
I really appreciate a guy like Andy, working on his profession, his art, day after day, slowly but surely mastering it.
25minutes for an experienced Chef who can trim a steak in less than 1 minute 20 seconds
And ? lol
I am not a chef but I can do it in less than 25 mins. You can use diff cut of meats or non at all for bibimbap
Peeps should be embarrassed if they can’t do this in 25 mins it’s not that hard 🤣😂
@@Tayla23 if u can wash rice, trim a steak and prep it for the wok, pickle cucumber, dice up a medium carrot, mushrooms, wash spinach (you're not gonna just have pre washed spinach laying around) and the. Cook it all and have it all done in less than 25 minutes then props to you. But whether it takes 23 or 40 it doesn't matter much.
Sorry we can't all be Chopped contestants
@@reyrex4938 if that’s difficult for you there’s nothing wrong with it
I always love Andy’s shorts. The sounds are so relaxing 😂 cooking ASMR.
Andy always opens up a fresh new side of beef every video and only uses 3 steaks. We not gonna judge you for using up the last one you opened from the last video!!!
I was paying close attention to your watch and it looks like you had put the rice on at 1:00, so let’s call this the starting time! Then you started cutting the beef at 1:05. By the time you finished chopping the mushrooms it was 1:23. Even though you blitzed through cooking the veggies with the commercial grade gas burner it was already 1:30 on the clock behind you when you started cooking the beef. At 1:37 on your watch you were plating up. At 1:45 at the beginning on the video shows you presenting the finished dish. More like 45mins Andy! Gotcha mate lol!
And now let’s add about 15mins of clean up time. So realistically, for us mere mortals at home… easy 1.5 hours.
Good eye! And yeah, would totally take that much time for prep and cleanup
You're also totally ignoring the fact they're making a video, with a production team. Which means, he's not doing something the entire time. Then are paused for a while to be discussed on how to do things, could even be doing reshoots.
@@IAmTheGlovenorno production team here, it’s only Mitch behind the cam. Andy is moving quickly to between each component of the dish because they’re only minutes apart. So the timing to make the dish sounds about right!
I’m only being a cheeky kent too hehe
The advantage of Korean dishes is no matter what you put in the bowl. You can choose your garnish as well as any nutrients you need.
최고의 요리사 늘 맛있는 요리 고마워요
Good work chef. Very nice egg at the end.
I feel like all that chopping in itself would take me 25 mins lol
easy to say. it would take me 25 minutes just to cut those carrots
Finally some decent recipe with no bs like vinegar gochujang sauce
😳😳I love food like that you are so good in the kitchen I wish I had that right now to eat looks very very good great job💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😛🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🙏🏾💙🥰
Looks awesome❤❤❤
You should definitely do more korean vids.
Maybe galbi or bulgogi
The rice bowl looks great, chef!
Also, nice wristwatch!
Under 25 mins for him is more like 2 hours for me
i just saw Andy make Korean Rice Bowl and I also heard a Korean Rice Bowl music 🤣😂
The fastest and tidiest chef on RUclips 🔥
I’ll take a plate😉✌🏼👍🏼
Always love your recipes and i know this is great because i made bibimbap many times, but for an average home cook this is going to take at least twice as long. Most of the time i make my condiments ahead of time in big batches so they can marinate longer and also prep fpr coming meals
That's Dolsot Bibimbap Chef...great 👍
U should try making kaisendon, its a shushing bowl
와우 😊
I make something similar at home. Rice is literally the quickest meal ingredient you can utilize.
(No snark here) It’s called “bee-bim bahp” bee-bim, meaning mixed & bahp, meaning rice ❤
비빔밥 맛있어요!!
This dish appears like Bibimbap...
Nahh... 비빔밥 아님
Actually.. That's not Korean food. It's more like Japanese 'Donburi'.
손질이 좀 달라서 그렇지 재료가 걍 비빔밥 그자첸데 어떻게 돈부리죠 @@nathanlee4547
yup, it is bibimpap
Now I need to know the difference between the two, bimbap vs. donburi. Please discuss.
(Edited for spelling)
Mmmgood! 😋
Thanks!
What does gochujang taste like? btw loving the content Andy! Inspired me to cook much more❤
That looks delicious I will be trying something similar
Andy, what is your favourite mushroom dish?
Looks 👌
That looks so good
That looks delicious!
Love it ❤from India 🇮🇳 😍
맛나게뚜아 ❤❤❤
Bimbimbap is good af, better in the hot stone bowl though
Yum. Looks delicious thank you. Are you OK? You look tired.
Only for professional cooks is this 25 minutes🤣
So glad the meat is cooked and not raw
❤ this!
I’m making it!
You are doing better than Korean . Proud !! Only think I can get more Cily paste with extra sesame oil on the too as I love spicy food.
Love these videos but no one is making this in 25min 😅
Bibimbap is the name of this dish
Not banchan? (Please excuse my spelling) I saw another creator make the same spinach, cucumber and carrots with a kimchi as well and called those side dishes banchan, which one would eat with rice and protein of choice if desired.
@@nazam8211 Bibimbap is the rice bowl. Banchan is all the side dishes (like the cucumbers and carrots) that go in it or are served on the side in other styles. All tasty.
@@aarongreenwald5747 aaah, okay! Thanks for clearing that up for me 🙂
I would need 25 mins Cutting the carrots😂 but apart from that fact which is my Bad...YUMMY❤
Would this be bibimbap?
Yes! 😋
Cepelinai do take longer than 25 min but they are delicious
Amazing ❤
Looks absolutely Yummy!
When I made bibimbap it was definitely not a 25 minute dish
If you prep right its possible but maybe a bit stressful and you have to clean afterwards
비빔밥! 😋
thank you for not butchering the name bibimbap even tho that is what it is called and rice bowl is pretty ambiguously vague. 비빔밥 for your copy-paste needs. as an americanized fellow, i like to call it a (hot) korean rice salad lol your shit always looks good meng
It seems to miss the red sauce
@@ChrisTian-sd5yq go juchang
Oh god, calm down.
Feel sorry for whoever's doing the dishes.
Great work chef but I think that’s going to take a little longer than 25 minutes.
Bibimbap ❤
Beautiful and somewhat healthy. 🤣
I want some😂
😊
Where's Mitches chitterlings!? Asking for a friend...for almost 2 years! 😏🙏
Bimbimbap🔥🔥
Hey Andy,
All looks good! But no plastic chopper board pls😅
Koreans rarely add salt during cooking as many ingredients are already salty 😊
Hey Andy! You’re great like always. I challenge you to cook Persian dish called Fesenjan 💐💐💐
Imma say press x to doubt on that 25 minutes... Well at least for me having to arrange everything in my small kitchen would at least take 1hr...
Wait stir frying the spinach instead of blanch & season like most of the recipes I saw is quiet convenient though?! I personally not a fan of blanched spinach in a bibimbap :(
Never thought of that before, will definitely try it!
stirfry is probably faster, but blanching is far more traditional and for sure healthier. idk, do whatever you want, lol
Andy please do a worldwide campaign against plastic cuttingboards
love these even better if you get a clay pot and get the char
It's called Bibimbap.
There's a Korean restaurant where I live in which they use heated stone bowls. It crisps up many grains of the rice.
Arroz imperial!
Yeah Andy, no; that doesn’t take 25 minutes, that takes 2 days to make.
Source: Korean mother
😮 that’ll take me 1 hour minimum
This takes me 3 hours😂
Recipe in the description as always
“Under 25min.”
Then you have cleanup XD
Does that include washing all of those dishes ?
BIBIMBAP!
Add a layer of lettuce on top of the rice and it’s a whole lot better to the Bimbimbop.😊
Right, it will take me only 25 minutes to do the plating. It will take me half a day to do all the cooking and chopping and washing as well lol
오우..이건 귀하네요..
So im a Korean chef … the most important ingredient in this dish is the gochujang sauce , everything else is just blanched veggies and a fried egg
Pork Sisig please !!
이탈리아인들이 분노하는 이유를 알것같다....
Only 7minutes ago?
For a lot of these dishes with an egg on top would it be smarter to cure several yolks and just grate them into the dish or is it as much garnish as flavor.......asking for a friend
Uhm....for this dish in particular you'd want to keep the whole egg. It's as much for texture as it is for garnish. Bibimbap is meant to be mixed together so it's really nice to break apart a fried egg into chunks and mix it into everything else
Having a fried egg on top and having grated cured egg yolks are two entirely different things - both in flavour, taste and overall context of the dish.
It's completely up to you, so if you want the egg to be an apparent part of a dish, it wouldn't hurt to have a whole egg added as part of the dish, no matter how you want the egg to be prepared (fried, soft boiled etc.)
Personally I would think of a cured egg yolk as extra garnish, but it doesn't mean it'll lack in flavour - it'll just be different compared to a soft boiled or fried egg.
What oil do you use for cooking
This is 25 mins from the time you start frying
I make it with more sauce and mix it all together at the end.
Do you mean under 25 minutes if you have everything prepped already?
Love your stuff, but don't be like other RUclips chefs exaggerating how quickly dishes are made
This! Im not the only one! Im not working restraunt pace at home 😂
Actually though, these “quick and simple” recipes are just out of hand
Can you make ratatouille... 😋😋
Bibimbap
Wow you have wok
His work skills are much improved. Now, he can work in a real life busy Asian restaurant as a wok cook. 🍚 🍤
25 minutes if you have refrigerated (not frozen) meat, a high-heat stove for your wok...
Doing bibimbap authentically takes much more than 25 minutes. It all depends on what kind of namu to put in the bowl.
Gotta love the bibimbap
Looks like bibimbap
Under 25 for you only 😂
