Numero pondere et mensura Deus omnia condidit.
God created everything by number, weight and measure.
      - Sir Isaac Newton
On more than one occasion, Newton wrote these Latin words as his autograph, with his signature. In Gilles Personne de Roberval's Aristarchi Samii de Mundi Systemate (1644), he frequently uses the abbreviation “P.N.E.M.” standing for “Pondere, mensura et mensura.” It was adopted as the motto of the Smeatonian Society of Engineers as “Omnia in Numero Pondere et Mensura.”

Science isn't about god(s), it purposely restricts itself to the truths about the material world, which is an important part but far from the entirety of human experiences.
Science can merely inform a human being about what is the case, never about whether or not a human being should do something about it nor what a human being should do about it if so. This self imposed restriction doesn't go for religions as religions are mainly about what we ought to do.

The flat earthers who bully, have power of employment or passing uni or school for that matter and mobbing Christians who have spent so many years of study, have poor thinking skills, prejudices or do not define issues, the education level of the general population and science graduates from uni regarding evolution and its facts limitations assumptions is quite appalling, then you combine it with the dreadfully poor standards of our churches makes it a hard slog .... so glad you found John Lennox and his exposition of the bible as I did....

    • @BlacksmithTWD
      @BlacksmithTWD Год назад +4

@@kobi219 Science does not make God obsolete, it merely chose to restrict itself to address only those things that don't require a concept of God to explain them. Science and theology are merely different branches of philosophy based on different axioms. If you want to know what is materialistically the case, then science is the best model. If you want to know what to do about it, then you need a religion as science can merely infrom you about what is, not about what you ought to do about it.
Science itself when proporly done is to be admired, as Thomas Aquinas argued over 800 years ago, both nature and scripture have God as their divine author so neither can be at fault. Science studies nature and thus when proporly done it can't be at fault either. Hence when a fallible human being perceives a discrepancy between science and scripture it's not that science or scripture is at fault but instead that fallible human being didn't proporly understand one or the other or possibly didn't understand either.
Scientism on the other hand is an ideology and one of the greatests threats to science.
It's the difference between someone wanting to learn the truth and doing scientific observations, experiments and reasoning for themselves and someone who refers to what some scientist may have said to be taken as authority. It's this ideology that is being used as a weapon, actual science by itself doesn't even provide a motivation to share ones findings. Both science and religion often get hijacked for personal political gains, in both cases the result is similar: corruption.
Personally I don't see God as coexisting, I rather see God as existing itself. I can see a front wheel of a bicycle coexisting with the rear wheel or the saddle of that bicycle, but I can't see the frond wheel of a bicycle coexisting with that bicycle since the front wheel is already part of that bicycle. In order to coexist it must be separate from not part of, but perhaps you have been using the verb 'to coexist' differently.
What do you get when you combine science with politics: politics
What do you get when you combine religion with politics: also politics.

Yet how many people fail to spend even 10 minutes/day truly studying and learning what the God of the Universe has to say to them? They read the Bible through in a year, but how much can they recall three days after reading a passage? How many verses have they 'implanted' in their life so they are an approved workman? How many people have they shared the Gospel of Christ with which we have all been commanded to share? How many people have they discipled after leading them to the Lord of the universe?

@deebrightassociates Yes I can; all within the first twenty seconds of the video. He states that atheism gives him no explanation of why mathematics works. If he were using critical thinking skills to be rational, he would understand that atheism does not have anything to do with why mathematics works. Atheism only addresses one proposition; whether or not one is convinced in the existence of a god or gods. Whether or not mathematics works is irrelevant to being convinced of said proposition; an unfalsifiable proposition, that is. Also, it is irrelevant that Newton, Faraday, Kepler, etc were theists as that is an argument from authority.

    • @deebrightassociates
      @deebrightassociates Год назад

@@nonprogrediestregredi1711 I appreciate your perspective on this matter, but I believe there are a few points that need further examination. While it is true that atheism, in its most basic definition, deals with the lack of belief in gods or deities, it is important to acknowledge that worldviews often encompass more than just a single proposition. Atheism, in practice, often involves a naturalistic worldview, which seeks to explain the world and its phenomena without reference to the supernatural.
In the video when he mentions that atheism provides no explanation for why mathematics works, he is likely referring to the broader philosophical implications of atheism, particularly within a naturalistic worldview. Without invoking a higher intelligence or a transcendent foundation for the universe, some atheists find it challenging to account for the existence of abstract entities such as mathematical principles and the laws that govern them.
Now, it is true that the he might have misattributed the problem solely to atheism. It would be more accurate to say that naturalism, a philosophical position often associated with atheism, struggles to provide a satisfactory explanation for the existence and efficacy of mathematics. This point is not intended to prove or disprove the existence of God, but rather to highlight a perceived limitation within certain atheistic worldviews.
Regarding your mention of Newton, Faraday, Kepler, and other theistic scientists, it is true that appealing to authority alone does not prove a position. However, their beliefs are relevant in this context because they serve as examples of highly influential and accomplished scientists who found harmony between their faith and their scientific pursuits. Their belief in a rational Creator provided them with a framework to understand and explore the order and precision of the natural world through mathematics.

Seventy years of intelligence poured into a process and still no results. Either the intelligence is lacking or the task is daunting.
One of the issues facing current scientists is that there's so much information and many are concerned and consumed with their little corner of knowledge.
A broader application of the current knowledge of known molecular biology is needed and rarely considered by many in their quest for knowledge and truth.
For instance, the next time you consider the mixing and creating amino acids to form the building blocks of life. intertwine amino acid formation with the formation of biological machinery.

Distribution of Nobel Prizes by religion between 1901-2000, the data tooks from Baruch A. Shalev, 100 Years of Nobel Prizes (2003), Atlantic Publishers & Distributors, p.59 and p.57: between 1901 and 2000 reveals that 654 Laureates belong to 28 different religion. Most 65.4% have identified Christianity in its various forms as their religious preference. Overall, Christians have won a total of 78.3% of all the Nobel Prizes in Peace, 72.5% in Chemistry, 65.3% in Physics, 62% in Medicine, 54% in Economics and 49.5% of all Literature awards.
While separating Roman Catholic from Protestants among Christians proved difficult in some cases, available information suggests that more Protestants were involved in the scientific categories and more Catholics were involved in the Literature and Peace categories.
Atheists, agnostics, and freethinkers comprise 10.5% of total Nobel Prize winners; but in the category of Literature, these preferences rise sharply to about 35%. A striking fact involving religion is the high number of Laureates of the Jewish faith - over 20% of total Nobel Prizes (138); including: 17% in Chemistry, 26% in Medicine and Physics, 40% in Economics and 11% in Peace and Literature each. The numbers are especially startling in light of the fact that only some 14 million people (0.2% of the world's population) are Jewish. By contrast, only 5 Nobel Laureates have been of the Muslim faith-0.8% of total number of Nobel prizes awarded - from a population base of about 1.2 billion (20% of the world‘s population).
according to the data judeo/christians who invented mordern science when the greatest monastiry (oxford, yale, harvard, stanford, ...) became the most highest universities praising god and searching for truth inherit ~85% of ALL nobel prizes.
in contrast atheism (the religion of deny) has less then 5% most of them in litrature and not even scientific.

@@friedricengravy6646 Hey, I actually lost sleep last night contemplating my reply to you. I am no theologian, and it looks like I commented on this video about 8 months ago. It’s only been about 12 months since I responded to God….I had ignored that relationship for about 37 years….so my personal experience with God is one that has included, like any relationship, some challenges. If a relationship is ignored, not nurtured in any way, it easily leads to disaffection. I would say that is how my relationship with God was, until February of 2022. I had moved forward with life at age 23 and didn’t include God, didn’t seek Him and although Christian principles had been ingrained in me as a young person I know first-hand now that it’s not possible to live those principles without Christ! I just heard someone say that Christ knocks loudest when we’re young, and the longer we ignore Him, the fainter it becomes. I didn’t hear a knock last year. The word “surrender” was in my thoughts. I wasn’t in crisis, I wasn’t “seeking God, but I knew what it meant. And I knew where it came from. It was the most unnatural thing to do, try to close my eyes and pray. My dog was staring at me, I was distracted. But I did, and I asked Christ to forgive me. I wanted to surrender my life to him. I wanted to re-establish our relationship. Again, this came seemingly from nowhere, but I do believe it was now or never last February. I had been to the point of mocking God and Christians as I had walked this life without Him for so long. I told my husband the next day that I was prepared to be rejected for my decision to dedicate my life to Christ but I had responded to God and I could no longer ignore Him. I am grateful he didn’t reject me. I mean really, I invited someone else into our marriage, lol, it isn’t just he and I! But my husband encourages me. He is not feeling the same conviction at this time. He does believe, but walking the walk so-to-speak is not foremost on his mind. So this is my experience. There is no object that will prove God’s existence to someone. God’s Word, the Bible, is what we’ve been given to learn the heart of God. My heart has been changed, is still changing and my relationship with God, through His Son Jesus Christ, is a daily relationship! I would point anyone to the source, God. Ask Him to reveal Himself to you. Let Him know you want to know Him. I was voicing things out loud I came to question, things I inherently believed as a young person, being raised in a Christian home, attending church, experiencing God at a young age. God didn’t reject me for it. It’s like He was waiting for me to even care again. So my comment about God being the greatest scientist is my acknowledgment that God is my creator, the Creator of everything (Genesis 1-11).

Modern Quantum Physics has shown that reality is based on probability:

A statistical impossibility is defined as “a probability that is so low as to not be worthy of mentioning. Sometimes it is quoted as 1/10^50 although the cutoff is inherently arbitrary. Although not truly impossible the probability is low enough so as to not bear mention in a Rational, Reasonable argument." The probability of finding one particular atom out of all of the atoms in the universe has been estimated to be 1/10^80. The probability of just one (1) functional 150 amino acid protein chain forming by chance is 1/10^164. It has been calculated that the probability of DNA forming by chance is 1/10^119,000. The probability of random chance protein-protein linkages in a cell is 1/10^79,000,000,000. Based on just these three cellular components, it would be far more Rational and Reasonable to conclude that the cell was not formed by un-directed random natural processes. Note: Abiogenesis Hypothesis posits that un-directed random natural processes, i.e. random chance formation, of molecules led to living organisms. Natural selection has no effect on individual atoms and molecules on the micro scale in a prebiotic environment. (*For reference, peptides/proteins can vary in size from 3 amino acid chains to 34,000 amino acid chains. Some scientists consider 300-400 amino acid protein chains to be the average size. There are 42,000,000 protein molecules in just one (1) simple cell, each protein requiring precise assembly. There are approx. 30,000,000,000,000 cells in the human body.)
Of all the physical laws and constants, just the Cosmological Constant alone is tuned to a level of 1/10^120; not to mention the fine-tuning of the Mass-Energy distribution of early universe which is 1/10^10^123. Therefore, in the fine-tuning argument, it would be more Rational and Reasonable to conclude that the multi-verse is not the correct answer. On the other hand, it has been scientifically proven numerous times that Consciousness does indeed collapse the wave function to cause information waves of probability/potentiality to become particle/matter with 1/1 probability. A rational and reasonable person could therefore conclude that the answer is consciousness.
A "Miracle" is considered to be an event with a probability of occurrence of 1/10^6. Abiogenesis, RNA World Hypothesis, and Multiverse would all far, far, far exceed any "Miracle". Yet, these extremely irrational and unreasonable hypotheses are what some of the world’s top scientists ‘must’ believe in because of a prior commitment to a strictly arbitrary, subjective, biased, narrow, limiting, materialistic ideology / worldview.

Every idea, number, concept, thought, theory, mathematical equation, abstraction, qualia, etc. existing within and expressed by anyone is "Immaterial" or "Non-material". The very idea or concept of "Materialism" is an immaterial entity and by it's own definition does not exist. Modern science seems to be stuck in archaic, subjective, biased, incomplete ideologies that have inadequately attempted to define the "nature of reality" or the "reality of nature" for millennia. A Paradigm Shift in ‘Science’ is needed for humanity to advance. A major part of this Science Paradigm Shift would be the formal acknowledgment by the scientific community of the existence of "Immaterial" or "Non-material" entities as verified and confirmed by observation of the universe and discoveries in Quantum Physics.)

    Noah and His Ark Problems...
Even if Noah could acquire the impossible amount of wood needed to construct it, however, we run into further problems. The Ark would have been a sizeable fraction of the size of an aircraft carrier or a battleship, and a wooden boat that size would have been too leaky and flexible to withstand the stresses of global flood conditions.

Conclusion: Noah supposedly took two pairs of each animal. That means Noah at least has to fill and feed more than 10 million animals in his ship (if we exclude animals living in sea and include insects). Neither description of ark in Bible can satisfy this demands nor any ship ever builded in human history. A common remark, "Mom, how can you still believe that stuff?" And for the most part, the church does very little to combat this. I have devoted much time and energy to fighting this lie of the devil. If any anyone is interested, I have an in-depth presentation with an accompanying slide show in which I have argued and pointed out the absurdities of the beliefs of many icons of evolution, i.e. Dawkins and Krauss. I would be more than happy to share this with anyone interested. I can assure you that it's laid out in a format that would be easy for anyone to present. And with the help of a Hebrew scholar, it presents views that incorporate modern day physics in a way that actually verifies the Genesis account.

I will give it to John Lennox, he certainly has the ability to lie with a straight face. But when John Lennox mixes with people like Kirk Cameron any credibility he thinks he has goes right out of the window.
It seems that believers today are not satisfied with just "faith", they need to be shown "evidence", and it's why there are people like Lennox and WCL around to manufacture it. All religions are called 'faiths' for a reason, there is no evidence for any of them. If you prove one you prove them all.

If John loves math so much, and it supposedly convinced him to believe in God, why does he reject the Genesis 1 account of creation ? Since he loves math, he should count the genialities in Genesis chapter 5 and 11. He will see the biblical timeline is about 6,000 years, not 13.7 billion years. Then he should reason God is correct, and the Big Bang is a myth, right ? No, because apparently Lennox holds secular timelines as more authoritative than Gods holy word ! He has a Very serious foundational problem !

As a mathematician I can only agree with John Lennox, there are good arguments for God. And among these, one by Leibniz convinces me the most: a version of the argument of 'eternal truths' put forward by Augustine and ultimately going back to Plato. Leibniz argues that spaceless and timeless immaterial truths, such as the laws of logic or mathematical theorems, apply independently of any real world and can therefore only be grounded in the Logos of God. Following Leibniz, there must be something that this non-material reality is based on: that something is God »as the ultimate basis of the being or nature of things that are possible - and of necessary or eternal truths: 'If there were no eternal substance, there could be no eternal truths'. God is seen as the root of what is possible, for his spirit is the realm of ideas or truths.« [ Maria Rosa Antognazza, »Leibniz, a very short introduction«].
It is not without a certain irony that materialist atheists, for whom thought is ultimately mere "reflexes" (as Dennet once explained), claim "truth" and logic (obviously two immaterial categories) for their supposed 'knowledge'. And if they think that using logic and mathematics, they can explain a naturalistic materialism in which neither of them actually exists (or is ultimately just "reflexes"...). 😆😆😆

We aren't making God in the image of a man to make us feel good, but God made us like him, and everything is a reflection of his creativity such as math and science. Not to mention the god head of the trinity explains our relationships with each other and why we love. I heard of a college professor who would tell his class at the beginning of the semester: "Before GOD created anything, He created algebra." You have to give praise to GOD for those things that don't require faith, but are tangible to establish and build one's faith.
Before giving my heart to Christ I went to see a fortuneteller at the recommendation of a friend. This woman used Tarot cards to read my fortune. She laid them down on the table in front of me and told me according to the meaning of the cards what was in my past, present, and future.
Everything she stated was perfectly precise in what was transpiring in my life at that time: everything from recent events in my life to the decisions I had just made for my future. I was just an immature kid out of high school; but I had enough sense to ask, “Who shuffled the deck?” This clearly was no coincidence-no random stroke of luck.
This experience taught me a very important lesson even though I was not a Christian at this time: there are controlling forces outside of our ability to control our own destiny.
