Agreed, look at how customizable the Apple Watch faces are, imagine that level of customization on the iPhone home screen! We could have a mix of live icons/widgets/complications.
Apples mission has never been to give everyone every possibility for customization. They were based on a vision and not making generic products but curating for specific taste and function. Now they’ve seemingly lost their way and have become galaxy 2.0. Android was always about features over idealism. Apple has no identity anymore and it shows.

Tbh I kinda wish they’d add the ability to customize backgrounds and text bubble colors on iMessage and also change the photos app icon to something other than a rainbow flower thing.
I was very disappointed with the iPhone 16 PM, same as the last few years. Got a S25 Ultra and wow is that the most customizable phone I've ever had. I can change anything I want and I mean anything, I can change the volume symbol to an acrylic changeable metallic color. I think you would really like the s25 ultra, when I unlock it I have a rainbow go around the screen it's crazy.

@jeffdois3331 yes, to some regard, but atleast google and samsung (and nothing) are still very much their own thing, but while its true, It seems to me like iOS artificially limits its possibilities and actively fights against the user, ofcourse if you're used to it it wont be a problem but for me, i have alot of things i really dislike about it, i will explain some 1: The back gesture, its just not great on iOS, i prefer Androids back gesture alot 2: More advanced Volume/Vibration control, not much else to say about that 3: Im not about customizing my phone to lts limits or installing some custom roms or launchers, but i feel like even tho the iPhone improved in that regard its still lacking some stuff 4: The Keyboard: i really dont like the iOS keyboard, i want my numbers to show up too aswell as my commas Now, there are some good things too , i believe iOS usually has the most refined design (even tho kinda boring) and the third party apps are better for sure, the ecosystem is also great even tho i havent ever used it myself ofc, there's certainly some good stuff on both sides and they dont differ as much from each other anymore, but i still like Android (refering to Pixel) and OneUI more, everyone has their preference
7:22 the motivation has to be to get people used to using a Mac that are normally using PCs. I have significant problems when I go over to Mac because the operating system is completely different and if I was used to using it on an iPad or plugging my phone into a monitor it would be a much easier transition to get a Mac.
I feel like the photos app, once you get used to it, it’s not a bad concept and I like the concept of filters way better than the old one. But it needs to be more intuitive and easier to quickly apply filters. Also the filters need to sort quicker. And when you scroll down, I like that it undoes the filters quickly but there needs to be more resistance on scrolling down so it doesn’t happen by accident all the time
It looks like apple has finally realised playing it safe no longer works, glad to see them making some bold moves, hopefully it actually comes true, though they still need to fix the core iOS experience!!
But here's the thing. They announce it in June and roll it out in september. Samsung announced ONE UI 7 in december and only the US market and S25 models have it.

Have an option for newly opened apps to open on the current stage (not constantly a new one) 2. Have an easier way to move apps in and out of stages. Like how you can move apps in and out of spaces. A bonus would be to be able to configure apps to always open on the same stage. Like for example, you could have a development stage that has Terminal, VSCore and Docker on it for example. So you can have workflow dependent stages.

They should let us change some icons like RUclips and Instagram to the the original ones that they use to be when the iPhone first came out. I like the retro look but the updated version of the app icons as well. Instagram let us change the icon a couple years ago but discontinued the feature.

Why has no one mentioned the existing iOS 19 Vision Pro design elements already in current iOS? Take the “+” button in iMessage, for example - it’s circular and layered on top of the message interface. It always felt a bit out of place, but now it clearly fits with the upcoming iOS design direction.
Stage manager on iPhone makes sense when you consider how wasted all the power they have is. Lots of apple users only have iPhones and apple would be able to grow their digital services, accessories and even other product lines like displays. There will also be less incentive to constantly upgrade due to rising costs for consumers with stagnated incomes and especially as right to repair policies get implemented in markets like the EU and an increasing number of US states.
FYI, squircle is actually a term, and it was technically what they’ve been considered for a while. It’s basically a square, but the rounded edges blend seamlessly into the flat edges. There’s some math involved. But now, they seem more like true squircles. Even more squirclier I guess. But yea my point is, squircle is actually shape

Before migrating to Apple, I use various brands of Android and during that period, I always customize my icons to squircle shape because I love that shape a lot. It looks even cooler when I used Sony because Sony has the narrowest profile. If Apple decided to use squircle as these images suggest, them I'm totally happy with that.
