Yes, I thought that Parametric House where outstandingly good teaching parametric architecture, Grasshopper 3D and algorithmic design, something they do extremely well. However I never expected them to be a game changer in parametric 3D model making for architecture. This open up a complete new field on chained skin facades. This is revealing in the best way possible. This goes on a field called composite textiles for double skin façade and multi skin facades. Their educational material and channel worth every penny. It's a game changer for architects, engineers, designers, game designers and 3d artists.
Why not have alternating pins and holes on the same H so you technically only have a single part to print over and over for ease of printing and assembly? I really like the drag and drop programming based approach, very thorough explanation of the software too thanks
Hi! This is a great tutorial. I'm new to Grasshopper, just wondering why I have untrimmed surfaces after the Pipe module (ends of the 'I' are open/hollow)! Can't seem to achieve a closed Brep for Solid Union (i got a open Brep instead). Any help is appreciated!
(for those who encountered the same problem) I solved it with Caps Holes module after the Solid Union to close the Brep! The rest of the steps will follow. :)
Which slicer software do you use? I suppose it's not ultimaker cura. Or which slicer software do you recommend? So, on the solidworks, i draw an articulated 3d object that contains the spaces shorter than 0,25 mm like a chain. But ultimaker cura i use it as a slicer software, doesn't detect the those short spaces, and slices the object as unarticulated and monoblock. Which slicer software do you recommend for the works like this?
What if you print the more tightly woven chainmail with flexible filament so you get more movement with the added coverage. Most of the fabrics are more of a fashion stlye and not really practical

It is just a more sophisticated and most stylish way of add more plastic and machine waste (printer) into our environment! Why can't we stick to natural clothes such as khadi, cotton, jute, wool and etc.
I really dig these fabrics, but I could never imagine anyone ever wearing any of them. Far too holey for any practical situation, to say nothing of conversations of modesty. :)
As several of the models did: wearing skin colored spandex/leotard/unitard results in a really cool look. You can even wear these prints over patterned or non-skin colored spandex (or normal thin clothes for nifty effects (including moire effect).
While this does look interesting, aren't we trying to get rid of plastics rather than producing more? Using plastic is very harmful to the environment as well as animal life.
These plastic meshes have the possibility of lasting indefinitely, which means less textile mill waste, and could allow for gradual elimination of the textile mills that use child labor.

Adding to the chain mail just print armor plate parts, paint them with metallic spray, and you have a knight cosplay very cool

today it is an excellent solution for making costumes in film production 😉✌️
Prints literally a chainmail
