I believe that Wukong got mad and lost control which resulted into this and he didn't even realize it till he saw the blood gushing out of Mac's eye as he starts to soon realizes the severe consequences of his actions. Which is why I also think Wukong always control's himself around everyone he's with in LMK cuz he doesn't want to do the same thing he did to Mac to them by losing control.
