  • This is Hope. Sometimes Peregrines raise their clutch in the most inconvenient places. The City would be one of those places! This is the case with Hope. She has fledged the "scrape" on-time, but her wings are not as strong as they should be at this age because she was not able to properly exercise them while still in the nest. You see, the area where she hatched out this year was in a rotted cornice (the area between the roof and the outside wall of the building) in one of the area mills. You will see her exercising her wings a bit in this video. At this age the parent peregrines (In this case Lizzy [aka 49/U] and her mate) care for the offspring until they learn to hunt on their own and become excellent flyers.
There is road construction going on VERY nearby, and you can hear the activity. There is a delivery of food and warning calls by Lizzy to anyone who would disturb her chick while it's eating!
I was able to record these clips while waiting for some help to capture her and bring her where she will be safe until she can fly.
Enjoy, and please like and subscribe!
