Even isn't a Stage 1 you have the opportunity to rebuild little by little an extremely rare vehicle such as 1972 Buick GS 455 and 4 speed! I have no idea how many GS came with a manual 4 speed transmission in 1972 but I bet that weren't many cars, even GS350, and look at that casting: 3925661 GM, looks like a M21 close ratio, lucky guy! Keep posting, greetings from a Buick guy from South America (Peru)
Yup I'm also coming to the same realization after some more research. Of those 81 I can't even figure out a number that came with a 4 speed. Considering the white paint with black vinyl top, there is a chance this is a 1-of-1 build which would be sweet.
@@onthemountainor not sure if you know about Stagewonrestoration or not. Todd Miller is the source for anything you need. I know the percentages are for the Stage cars, but of 728 built, only 19 were white with black vinyl top. You probably have single digit in your case for sure. A/C equipped is rare on a 4 speed as well.
@@onthemountainorDefinitely keep going. Question: Where did you find her and how much?? I've always loved these cars, there's something about them. Bench seat with a floor shifter?, Now that's cool. Keep the videos coming, thank you 👍.
The giveaway was the multiple holes in the fender , also newer engine , wrong color , I recently sold a body off 1970 GS 455 , buckets console , factory air , new 1/4s , black urethane paint , black vinyl top and interior , in Canada in Canadian dollars for 30,000. If it was a Chevelle would have been worth 60,000 go figure ?
Hey there! It was a bit disappointing to find out after my dad storing this for decades that it wasn't what I thought it was... however I much has been done since this video (I have two more in the works). Engine is out, shes off for body and paint already. More to come!
Fifty yrs later you cant expect it to have ALL the original stuff with it.
Looks like a great car to work with.
Keep moving forward!

I believe there were 101 72 GS 455 Stage 1's 4 speeds produced. I am fortunate enough to own one.
Nice ride innice ride i have 2 68 Rivieras one is a GS option i got a new 455 going in the GS
solid car. blue paint on the engine is a dead giveaway that its a later model engine, as is the intake. still a cool car though
Looks engine was replaced with a later model because of the color. But keep going it seems to be a rare car with a 4 speed and A/C.
They built 84 GS455’s in 1972. 101 Stage 1’s. So it’s more rare.

@@onthemountainor the 84 ARE 4 speeds. I’ll look to see if I can find out the color percentage.

If the vin reads 4g it’s just a gs if it’s 4v it’s a stage 1 72 Buick is the only year you can identify on the vin
Nothing wrong with that! Keep er going!!
That's the plan!
