I honestly prefer this to a lot of the Vaporwave MVs made nowadays. This older stuff seems a little more grounded around a theme, instead of just random clips playing from everywhere.
Subarctic Paradise. Yeah, that makes sense. Still standing, though, this seems more integrated than some of the things it inspired. Thanks for the recommendation, too.

The Compact Disc will be the ulitmate form of storing media in the world. Soon everyone will have their very own Compact Disc and will be about to store up to 80 to 120 minutes of audio. The future is bright for the Compact Disc, perhaps it will be the final form storage we need.
OPN cites Steve Reich and minimalism in general as a major influence, so I can see why. That's my second favorite Reich piece btw. Music for 18 Musicians will always be first.
I don't get why people are calling this a vaporwave MV considering it sounds nothing like vaporwave at all apart from the first six seconds with that Marvin Gaye eccojam; it's a Berlin School track from OPN's beautiful Zones Without People! Also, this music video's great, the arpeggiated layering of the woman's face next to the CD strongly complements the curious futuristic arpeggios of the track itself, further amplifying the hypnotic effect the track already had; though I wasn't around when CD's first started booming in sales, I would have to imagine for those around during that initial boom that CD technology was as fascinatingly futuristic as the advertisement used as found footage in this music video would suggest.

y'all I don't think this is even vaporwave. Oneohtrix Point Never likely composed this rather than sampling another song. that's my guess, especially when comparing this to other eccojams music which is considered "vaporwave"
