You two are absolutely wonderful! Argentinians love to watch you drinking mate. However, for a better taste I recommend putting the yerba mate in the "mate" first, about 3/4 of the way, then removing the powder by shaking it well, a little bit of cold to lukewarm water to put the straw in, (just a little bit of water). A few minutes later, start adding the hot water, little by little, so that it only serves for a few sips. That's the way to drink mate, little by little and for it to last a couple of hours, it's also great to share the same mate, that always improves meetings here. Enjoy! 💟
