Load is a masterpiece as far as I'm concerned! I literally just watched an old interview with James from 1988. And he was talking about fans saying they sold out long before their music video for One. James said "we play what we want to play. If you don't like it, we don't want you as a Metallica fan anyway."

Yep and remember the radio played until it sleeps and everyone at school hated it lol I got the cd and didn’t like it but now it’s on my top 6metallica albums 🤘
I liked Load when it first came out but it took a while for me to love it like I do now - still think it's 15 to 20 minutes "over weight" - but has easily 2 of my favourite Metallica songs on it... Bleeding Me and Outlaw Torn
The Load album for me is the album I always play from beginning to end without skipping a song. I spent to many great moments while travelling in my life, so it has a special place in my heart!
Ppl say load and reload was Metallica sold out albums. I say it’s just Metallica 96 and 97 lol. Their some my favorite albums from them. I loved the heavy metal/ bluesy sound.
Thanks for doing this. I understood the hate back then because a lot of fans become locked in one feeling when they fall in love with a band and they can’t stomach evolution. For me, load and reload were awesome, honest and authentic. Nothing firced, just masters expressing themselves in that moment. I do feel they were the last true, honest and pioneering Metallica albums. They circled back to thrash after, and despite some pretty awesome riffs here and there, all subsequent albums felt forced to me. Still love them, still my favorite band of all time.
I’ve always said that people who hated Load and ReLoad are just people who don’t listen to any other genre of music. If it’s not thrash they hate it, and that’s something I just don’t understand. There is no way someone only likes ONE genre of music. They force themselves to do that just for an image man. Music is far too amazing for me to limit myself to just one genre or sub-genre. I love Metallica because they DO cover a lot of sub-genre’s in the rock and metal category, and they do it well.
I’ll be honest, Reload is one of my favourite albums of all time. It was my first experience of Metallica and heavy music. Load and Reload are a different beast. We all love the thrash but these albums were a nice break up from what we were getting. I agree with you, James’ voice is on form for these albums. Powerful singing voice and lyrically the themes are great. I’ve never understood the hate….

The reason they are the number 1 band is because all other bands pretty much release the same album over and over Unlike others every Metallica album is different not 1 or 2 but every album and they don't rush it
The black album wasn’t only the biggest selling album in metal out of all the albums that came out in the 90s of all music genres, including hip-hop and country and Pop, and I mean you had huge artist dropping classic albums in the 90s from artists like Nirvana, Snoop Dogg, Tupac, biggie, smalls, pearl jam, Pantera, Garth Brooks, Michael Jackson, etc. Metallica had the biggest selling album of that holds 90s. There isn’t one album that came out in the 90s that sold as much as the Black album. No, it’s not a thrash album but I’ve never bought this idea that Metallica sold out because selling out is doing something that you don’t want to do and you want everyone to like it but I’ll people did was bitch about it. And you can’t tell me load in Reload was done for money when you look at the album sales for records like Master of Puppets, Justice and the Black album, and then look at the record sales for load and reload. I think it’s fair to say that whether someone likes the music or not is irrelevant I think Metallica just expanded their taste. I mean I grew up on metal and hip-hop in the 90s. That’s mostly what I listen to but I listen to so many different genres of music today. If I were in a band, I would not want to be pigeonholed and told I’m only allowed to play the same style over and over again. I love Slayer but how many albums past the early 90s does anyone ever give any praise to? When you just put out the same album 15 times in a row yeah no one’s going to call you were so loud but no one really cares either. Not seeing anyone has to like any album by any artist but people are allowed to change. I don’t get these metalhead dudes I see that are in their late 40s or 50s and they were literally online screaming at people calling them posers. If you’re still the same person when you’re 40 years old that you were when you’re 18, you wasted two decades of life, not growing at all.
Yes it means 2 riffs played 4 times in a row and James took that name and wrote lyrics about literally a 2x4 a block of wood “put the screws into you” for example
The cool thing about Load is that the guitars play different lines a lot of the time. Sadly the same doesn't happen in Reload. Lars' playing is still mot that bad at this point in their career, too.
Ain’t my b isn’t about an ex. It’s about hearing people whining and complaining to him and bitching to him and trying to bring him down. Basically saying don’t come to me with your problems cuz they ain’t mine
Fuel or Ain´t my Bitch? The Unforgiven 2 or Until It sleeps? Fixxxer or The Outlaw Torn? What are you talking about? That´s a BULLSHIT! We don´t need to give up any of these great tracks! We just need to make one BIG album or one double album on 2 CDs (something like Senjutsu or Book Of Souls from Iron Maiden) with these fantastic tracks IMHO: Ain't My Bitch The House Jack Built Until It Sleeps King Nothing Hero of the Day Bleeding Me Wasting My Hate The Outlaw Torn Fuel The Memory Remains The Unforgiven 2 The Devil´s Dance Low Man´s Lyrics Where The Wild Things Are Fixxxer
There's something flat about Loads production. Reload def cracks more and is more UP. Load is a moody bastard for sure. Could've done without 2x4, Cure, Poor, Mama, Thorn and Ronnie.
@@metallicaopinionz I can't agree with that, but that's your opinion and i respect it, but in my case those song are the weak part of the Metallica discography (and some songs of St. Anger).
So at the 13:00 mark @metallicaopinionz stresses that if you think Metallica sold out with Load and Reload then you’re the problem 😂 😂 😂 kid I’ve been a fan of the band since the 80’s. To watch them go from Kill’em All to playing Alternative 90’s rock was a big disappointment for me and many many Metallica fans. They were riding the alternative trend of the 90’s. I love the band but they sold out big time. Blaming fans is a cop out. And today we have Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga performing with Metallica 🤦♂️ tell me they haven’t sold out again kid.
I listened to this album somewhat recently and it was even worse than I remembered. Reload was terrible too. It really is sad what happened to this band in the 90's. They were probably my favorite metal band in the 80's and then became something completely different that I no longer respected. Thankfully, we still had Slayer, Pantera and incredible death & black metal starting up in the decade.
@@metallicaopinionz No, not at all. Metallica disappointed me back in 1991, but that was a long time ago. Since then there have been hundreds of metal bands I really enjoy. I couldn't care less now that Metallica has been sucking for 30 years.

If the songs had been better, no one would have noticed the personal style change. I'm so sick of these fan boys defending everything Metallica does. We don't care that the album was different or not heavy, we care that 80% of the album is insufferable and boring.
I don't know why your reply on my previous shows on the notifications but not in the comments, but i ll reply here. Popularity does not equal good for sure, but when you have a combination of factors such as: the vast majority of the older fans do not like them, the band themselves (James that basically wrote most of the music) described them "as acts of compromise within the band that didn’t work out" while he absolutely hated the artwork, they barely play these songs live, they are the less streamed songs today, and still are extremely controversial among fans. When you have all these together then you really need to think about the quality of these albums. Unless you somehow still support your comment that you and a few others have the musical knowledge and ability to appreciate these masterpieces, while the majority of people that disagree, are simpletons that cannot appreciate "diversity and innovation", which i find highly arrogant. Also if by innovation you mean slides, steel guitars, bluesy and country licks that thousands of blues/country/southern rock bands have been playing for the last 30 years at that time, then you need to redefine innovation. You do a good analysis of the album, however i find many of the comments either too enthusiastic or condescending if people have a different opinion.
Your comment about people not appreciating diversity and innovation is ridiculous. You need to understand that the vast majority of the Metallica fan base back then were metal fans. The Load/Reload albums are basically bluesy rock with elements of southern rock and a bit of country. Why on earth should appreciate this type of music, when for example i happen to absolutely hate blues, southern rock and country? And that was the case for the majority of people then. You will hardly hear anything live from these albums (apart from the memory remains and fuel and some times king nothing), something that tells a lot about the popularity of these albums. Even James said lately that he is not fan of that era. You need to accept that people come from different backgrounds and appreciate different things. Also think why the Black Album, although was a departure from their thrash sound (of course much less than Load and Reload) are loved by the majority of the fans and its songs are played all the time 30+ years later, while these albums are rarely heard ?Also they are the less streamed albums on streaming platforms (except of course St Anger). This tells you a lot about the popularity of these albums.
How about both albums debuting #1 and if you read the comments of the live versions of songs from this era, they're mostly comments about how they should do more Load/ReLoad songs live, Metallica makes the decision to give the fans the older classics (80's)over songs the fans do love but just a little less (late 90's) just bc Load n ReLoad aren't as highly thought of as the thrash albums Metallica has,in terms of being heavy and in your face badass doesn't mean that they're not badass in a different way,i feel like if you would do some unbiased research you would find that L/R are quite respected today by most adults, only hormonal teens and old heads who don't have an identity besides their thrash metal loving days actually hate L/R,now I'm not saying ya have to love them but ya can't top to bottom act like they're complete trash just bc the thrash days were as good as they were, you can not be a fan of certain music and that music not be the worst music ever, hell there's plenty of music that just isn't for me but that doesn't mean it's the worst songs that artist has done, but i thought I'd let ya know what the view from the other side is and no it's not my personal opinion which is why i told ya to research and you'll find that L/R were both #1 albums and ppl do ask for live songs from both, the thrash stuff is more popular nobody is saying otherwise but load and reload aren't shit albums either, you're mainly going off a narrative that was picked up by the media and blown out if proportion bc some young thrash metal only lovers didn't like Metallica changing their style up,to each their own but you're not gonna get by with trying to portray load n reload as shit albums that very few ppl like bc that's just not the case, remember just bc the thrash classics are more popular... doesn't mean that load n reload aren't popular in their own right

My favorite album, I dont really care what anyone says...I wouldnt have picked up a guitar nor learned to play it without these songs.
Still waiting until they relase the album unload.
Could be next album in 2022
The reason they are the number 1 band is because all other bands pretty much release the same album over and over Unlike others every Metallica album is different not 1 or 2 but every album and they don't rush it
The black album wasn’t only the biggest selling album in metal out of all the albums that came out in the 90s of all music genres, including hip-hop and country and Pop, and I mean you had huge artist dropping classic albums in the 90s from artists like Nirvana, Snoop Dogg, Tupac, biggie, smalls, pearl jam, Pantera, Garth Brooks, Michael Jackson, etc.
They used a fretless bass on nothing else matters so this would be the second time it's been featured
Ain't my B*tch just means, that it's not that person's situation. 2X4 means 2 guitar Riffs played 4 times in a row 😀🤟🏻
Wish i mentioned that in the video
talkbox was a miss imo, but overall i like load a lot
Actually Jason used a fret less bass on nothing else matters
Yep, some of their best work
Ain’t my b isn’t about an ex. It’s about hearing people whining and complaining to him and bitching to him and trying to bring him down. Basically saying don’t come to me with your problems cuz they ain’t mine
It can be open to both interpretations in my opinion
@@metallicaopinionz I guess so
I just do not like harsh drum sounds, because Lars stopped using ride cymbal, and abuses china cymbal. Becomes tiring to listen to it loudly.
I love THTJB but I hated the talk box solo
Think it was cool for 96
Load>Reload
Fuel or Ain´t my Bitch?
The Unforgiven 2 or Until It sleeps?
Fixxxer or The Outlaw Torn?
What are you talking about? That´s a BULLSHIT!
We don´t need to give up any of these great tracks!
We just need to make one BIG album or one double album on 2 CDs (something like Senjutsu or Book Of Souls from Iron Maiden) with these fantastic tracks IMHO:
Ain't My Bitch
The House Jack Built
Until It Sleeps
King Nothing
Hero of the Day
Bleeding Me
Wasting My Hate
The Outlaw Torn
Fuel
The Memory Remains
The Unforgiven 2
The Devil´s Dance
Low Man´s Lyrics
Where The Wild Things Are
Fixxxer
1:26 nothing else matters was also with fretless bass.
There's something flat about Loads production. Reload def cracks more and is more UP. Load is a moody bastard for sure. Could've done without 2x4, Cure, Poor, Mama, Thorn and Ronnie.
I disagree with the removal of these songs especially 2x4, Mama Said, and Thorn Within
Team Lars 💪
I think the problem with Load and Reload is they are pretty boring albums, there's good songs in both, but also the have some forgettable songs.
Highly disagree with your opinion, they are really great records
@@metallicaopinionz I said it, they have great songs, but also have forgettable songs like Ronnie, 2x4, Poor Twisted Me and Cure.
@@panicoestatico9260 2X4 is one of the best songs on these albums honestly, and cure is super catchy
And it’s still horrible now
I listened to this album somewhat recently and it was even worse than I remembered. Reload was terrible too. It really is sad what happened to this band in the 90's. They were probably my favorite metal band in the 80's and then became something completely different that I no longer respected. Thankfully, we still had Slayer, Pantera and incredible death & black metal starting up in the decade.
Too bad for you I guess
@@metallicaopinionz No, not at all. Metallica disappointed me back in 1991, but that was a long time ago. Since then there have been hundreds of metal bands I really enjoy. I couldn't care less now that Metallica has been sucking for 30 years.
@@davidburns6284sucks for you dude
@@Pusfilth No, not at all. Metallica disappointed me back in 1991, but that was a long time ago. Since then there have been hundreds of metal bands I really enjoy. I couldn't care less now that Metallica has been sucking for 30 years.
@@davidburns6284 damn dude sucks to have your brain
u indian?
No, why u asking?
No, this album was not underrated.
Ok
This guy sounds like mclovin no offence
Underrated??????? Its Part Of The Rubbish Tbey Been Dumping Out Since The Black Album...
These 2 albums and that entire era have aged like milk. Good riddance.
Ok
False
outlaw torn/fixxer/bleeding me/where the wild things are/ the house that jack built/thorn within/unforgiven 2 /low man's lyric are awesome
If the songs had been better, no one would have noticed the personal style change. I'm so sick of these fan boys defending everything Metallica does. We don't care that the album was different or not heavy, we care that 80% of the album is insufferable and boring.
Thank you for sharing that opinion. I still think its a great album tho
both albums just suck
Load is my personally favorite album
Glad to see an under appreciated gem getting some love
