I bought an FTM 500 DR this past Saturday. But, it's on backorder. Grrr. So I'm hoping that maybe it might come with this firmware update? If it doesn't I'll just watch your easily understandable video. Thanks so much.

It seems to me that when the FTM400 first came out it had a quick firmware update that was required when it first came out as well. I don't remember why. 73

I've only had my ftm 500 for a few days.
After programing about 50 memory channels both vhf and uhf, just today when scanning the memory channels either vhf or uhf when the scan reached the end of the last memory channel the radio locks up. I couldn't change the channel either up or down. Wierd.
Hope this firmware addresses that also.

Great vid Ape, nice and simple, hrmm, but after factory reset, how would you re-apply your backed up memories ? might be a PITA if one has 100s of them :)

I live in Brazil, traveled to JAPAN, bought a Yaesu FTM 500D (Japanese version). I need to transmit in Brazil on 146.950 and the radio says TELA is prohibited. TX PROHIBITED. Can you help me make a change of region or opening in TX? What is the best solution for my case? Thank you if you could help. Moacyr

Sorry man, I do not know of any software mod to do that...
They didn't fix the recording bug where it records the mic no matter if the setting for it is off or not. This really sucks when trying to record satellites to hear my own self on the signal.

Did we get banks with this update?
Banks are not in any of the recent Yaesu radios like the 300, 200 and 500. I think it's pretty clear they deliberately went a different direction. You can mimic having banks by using different SD cards to store different memory group profiles. Not great, but something.
