Oh someone probably had misinformed you. The etiquette is to fold the leaf towards if you enjoy the meal, and fold away if you don't. But this is not cast in stone. In any case the fact you cleaned up the banana leaf proved more than anything else you enjoyed the meal. Other banana leaf trivia : 1. Banana leaf contains polyphenols, natural antioxidants. Apart from the pleasant aroma, hot food served on it is said to absorb and benefit from these natural antioxidants. 2. A "full" banana leaf meal has many dishes. Not seen above are rasam (spicy sour soup), tairu (unsweetened yogurt) and dried fried chillies. Incidentally, Kapitan at Chulia Street, Penang - the one with big red sign board in front of you at 21:12 - is supposed to make the best chicken tandoori and naan in Penang, and that's saying a lot.
Thank you so much for sharing this knowledge with us! We love getting educational comments on our channel, so useful for the future and other foreign tourists I guess 🤓👍

Is digital nomad a sustainable career? Or only good for people with rich/affordable parents, who can be their safety net during down time? Can poor kids from poor family also become digital nomads?
OF COURSE it is possible! Myself and Justina have worked for everything that we have today and we don’t earn a lot still to this day. If we went home tomorrow our money would not be enough to survive in the UK. We would also have to rent a place to stay whilst at home. My mum passed away when I was 14 and from that moment life was a lot more challenging (never had a real place to come back to). I had to work full-time whilst at college from the age of 17. Justina also moved to UK at the age of 17 with nothing and to start a new life. So yes go for it. Work out what you actually NEED to survive and make that your starting point. You will find out that you don’t actually need a lot.
Let me teach u guys how to use your hand while eating rice. Firstly u must gather your rice with fish or chicken or vege and then u must compress it to make it looks like a triangle. After that use your thumb to push it slowly to your mouth. Enjoy your new skills yaaaaa...

You are supposed to fold the banana leaf towards yourself to indicate you enjoyed the food. folding out means you didnt like the food.
I am sure they would know that we didn’t mean that given that we are tourists 👍. Will know for the future though, thanks 😎
