Man I don’t know why but this song makes me tear up.. maybe it’s because this is the first song I’ve listened to since coming out of depression that’s made me want to start playing drums again. It’s been a rough 4 years.. I’ll tell you without saying too many words that it’s not something I would wish on anybody. Feels like Being trapped in a hole with no way out and every time you seem to reach the surface someone steps on your fingers and you fall back to the bottom. Long story short with an IMMENSE amount of work and trust in myself and faith in the future I held on. This last month has felt like being born again and I’m getting to re experience everything that gave me joy for the first time again. Sometimes it’s overwhelming but in a good way. No matter who you are.. what journey your on or what is going on today. Please stick around forever. ❤️ You light deserves to shine for a long time. Anup you are such an inspiration and in incredible person. Thank you for this brother ❤️

i couldn't help but notice you use a condenser mic on the kick in addition to another (dynamic?) mic... can't wait to learn more about your mic preferences. i'm just using a basic xy overhead setup with a kick mic and dynamic mics on the drums for that extra punch for heavier stuff. it works, but i'm hoping to up my game eventually.
Nice! I use an Evans Heavyweight on batter, and maybe 2-3 small squares of moon gel. Just need to experiment with how much resonance/ring you're trying to control with the gel. As for tension, I don't go too high or cranked with the batter head. It's definitely tight, but I usually try and go for a mid-range pitch with the snare a lot of times.
