  • Looking to increase your hockey sense? Week 1 of our 6 week series will help improve just that.
If you're looking to elevate your hockey sense and mechanics, you've come to the right place. In this six-week program, we will unravel the mysteries behind the natural abilities of top NHLers and superstars. What may seem unlearnable can actually be understood and taught through the power of science and mechanics.
Throughout this series, we will delve into two crucial aspects of hockey sense and mechanics. First, we'll explore the importance of head position and its impact on your gameplay. Second, we'll uncover the fascinating concept of your dominant eye and how it plays a vital role in your performance.
In this episode, we kick things off by addressing your dominant eye. Just like being right-handed or left-handed, you have a dominant eye that plays a key role in tracking, perception, and balance. Identifying your dominant eye can drastically improve your overall gameplay.
    👁️ Discover Your Dominant Eye
To determine your dominant eye, follow these simple steps:
Form a triangle with your hands.
Place an object, like the blue bicycle stand, within the triangle's field of view.
Close your left eye. If the object remains in the center, you are right eye dominant.
Close your right eye. If the object shifts from the center, you are left eye dominant.
Confirm by closing the opposite eye, and the object should stay fixed in the center.
Knowing your dominant eye lays the foundation for your head positioning and overall hockey sense. Correct head positioning in various situations will make your gameplay almost automatic, allowing you to focus on tactical thinking and coaching strategies.
    📹 Upcoming Videos
In the upcoming videos, we'll explore how your dominant eye affects your head position during different gameplay scenarios. Mastering this aspect can make a world of difference in your performance. Remember, even with great tactical skills and coaching, without the right head position, success will be hard to come by.

Another variation of this test which may be simpler: start the same, stretch your arms, form a triangle with your hands, pick an object to focus on... but instead of closing/opening eyes, bring your hands slowly back towards your face, keeping the object in focus. Before you touch your face your hands will inevitably pick the side of your dominant eye. *source: ophthalmologist (I've had multiple eye surgeries & it's something each one has checked)

The object moves off centre for both my eyes

not possible. The brain always uses one eye for main focus and the second eye is used for judging depth perception. This is why people with one eye, or one bad eye, have depth percention problems and working in-tight even though that one 'good eye' may have good vision.
When you do the triangle and focus on an object that is close to you, this test does not work well. The object you are focusing on should be far away, not a few feet/meters away. At the very least, try doing this with an object across the room and or an object far away, outside the window for example. You will have a distinct shift when doing the test on object far away.

+1 same thing happens for me. Moves on both eyes.
Edit I've tried on far objects and near objects. The object is never in the center whichever eye I look through. I have to physically readjust my hands to center the object. Either calling bs on this technique or some folks don't have a dominant eye

If your like me you can actually control which eye is gonna be the focus and which is not. I can swap them and make it move for both eye at will.
When I don't think about it though, I do have a dominant one.
