Love how Winston represents and promotes the culture 🇹🇹🇹🇹. Great interview and looking forward for the movie.

This guy is so charismatic!
Not only that he is also very tall (handsome), very eloquent in the way he speaks, he is also humorous and very reflective when he speaks. he is a born actor. I wish colbert team would release the whole interview the uncut version
His charm was the main reason I saw Us
So true! I really enjoyed this guest interview as opposed to so many other interviews that are attention seeking contests.
He's Trinidadian we are like this!
This needed to be much longer. I wanna hear more of his stories.
Agreed
I had the VERY same thought! So many actors get multiple Segments. I was really *sad* when This interview ended!
@@halimahiman I watched it again so I could show it to my bf. I really want to see that movie now too.
Surah Al Iklas
Gosh! I love this. Thank you for always representing us. 'Trini to d bone' 🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹
Love him. He’s so talented and I love when he gets to talk about his culture. Charming!
Yes Lawd!!!
"Is ah island ting". Being a Trini from the other island ... I can tell you that his style is very authentic
@@dexterdanieltnt The better half…Bago!
Oh man… I love the Trinidad stories….they were so true, especially the soap operas and the machetes. Reminded me of the small things growing up there.
You can get machetes on Toronto. 😆
I literally knew every single one of the soap operas he mentioned immediately! Haha they were on every day
Reasons i dont like telly and prefer streaming.
Sits in my NY apartment, stares at the cutlass by the door . . . damn, call us out why dont you
Trinidad and Tobago represent!!!! Proud!!! 🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹
Winston Duke!! Thank you so much for sharing the Trinidad culture and your outfit was poppin! Your charisma and warmth made my whole family smile. Thank You!
Yo that “if you cross this line…” is the most Ghanaian thing I have ever seen. And I love that I see it within the diaspora lol
It's still down up to this day. Lol I love my T&T
We really are the same across the globe. Lots of traditions remained with us. Love my Country Trinidad and Tobago
@@faatimabrown4084 true dat, they can steal the body but not the soul

Any black person you see came from somewhere in Africa especially Western Africa so it’s not a surprise to mention Ghana or Nigeria etc just know black people are from Africa 🙏🏾🙏🏾
my step dad passed away and a week or so later i had a dream he was in a victorian house with a conservatory that was being used as a waiting room, he said "I'm fine, don't worry, things are alot better now" gave me a hug and I woke up!
i live in Trinidad it is true before d nine days u would smell their perfume that's ur relative come also if u smell wood burning and u don't see nothing burning then it's a spirit near u I love our culture
I'm also trinidadian and that is truth. Jist dont go with them whrn they tell u to follow them.

I saw “Nine Days” at Sundance and again last week. Loved it both times. It’s a beautiful film! Had the opportunity to meet him and he was so great.
Yesssss represent we ❤ you. Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹 to the world
He reminds me of a random guy you’d meet at an airport who ends up being the best man at your wedding.
😊❤
We NEED Winston back for a longer interview. Soon!
Winstonnnn!!!! Yes my Trini brother! This is what I call representation! Every word he said was true about Trinidad!! This gave me chills to watch. Victor, Cruz, the machete! Yesss! I've been a fan of Stephen Colbert for years and this interview just made me so freakin happy! Thank you Winston and Stephen!
Haha thought the same thing. Glad he took so much of the interview to speak of those Trinidadian things (and Tobago) lol
Ikr Krystal
What a delightful man
I loved him since Person of Interest. They always had such smart villains.
POI is a great show. One of my favorites & in my queue to rewatch. Love Michael Emerson (Finch) & Enrico Colantoni ( Elias) also.
Came here just to say this
Yes! DOMINIC! POI is a greatly underrated show. Only just discovered it this year, and I loved it.
he was the best thing about "Spenser Confidential".
How do I not remember this!? 🤔 *furiously google* ooooh!!! Right! I gotta rewatch this. I must have fallin asleep during many of these episodes! Haha
Loved how he told stories of his background 🇹🇹
Great interview Winston. Much love from 🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹
Anyone else wish this interview was longer?
Another interesting guest cut short. The movie sounds like something I'd like to see. 🖖😊💕
I saw it this weekend and it was a really unique (in a good way) experience. I loved it.
I saw it 2 hours ago and it was incredible and beautiful. Such an interesting movie.
Such a talented, sweet and beautiful person!
Love from Trinidad🇹🇹🇹🇹
Cruz ❤️ my God i forgot about “Santa Barbara” i looooved that show. Winston just upped his hotness in my eyes, if that was even possible
Lol! Big up to Winston. Love from Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹
I love Stephen Colbert and on most occasions he never disappoints. I do, however, feel that he rushed this interview. Winston Duke’s personality and the short description of the movie “9 days” just sounds to me like they should have been explored a little more. Can’t wait to watch the movie though 😊
Completely agree!
He's got great presence, he personifies Mbaku.
He was definitely my fave character after T’Challa
Beautiful human being❤ Such a light he has!
He's so likeable! Jon Baptiste you should have played the Trini calypsonian Mighty Sparrow as Winston's entrance music though. (Which he has played back in 2019 btw)
That would have been good, but I really liked Jon's choice! "Duke" from Stevie Wonder!
Wow, I don’t generally like celeb interviews but was blown away by this one. 🥰
I have never been more proud to be a trini .....brother you have made a fan for life!!!
Winston is sooo sweet and handsome. ♥
My father visited my daughter within the 9days, she didn't even know what it was, she told me she dreamt grandpa and he looked at her and smiled. I felt so peaceful after that.
What d 40 days for Debbie..i witnessed a ritual at tbe 40 days..but it was because of a situation within the family that they had to do that..but a normal 40 days i feel different..
@@debbiemarquis3231 nah it have 9 nights and the 40 days I think it name something else. Can't remember if there is anything on between, I'll ask my mother she would know
I'm Trinidadian and I learned A LOT about Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹 from this interview!
This dude is overflowing with charisma
Marvel is going to get a lot from this man.👏
I see an Oscar win in his future.
mmm! Winston is looking and sounding so damn good!!!! I wish I could hug him...just ONCE!
Delightful interview💥🎉Winston is phenomenal💜🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🌴🏖
Just love Winston Duke! Great actor, wonderful storyteller, and seems like really funky person. Terrific laugh. Love the cruises story. No idea thatTrinidad and Tobago was so immersed in US entertainment. John and Human are "The Band".
We are part of the Americas after all
@@nigivlog3775 So very true! A great benefit to the US.
9 Days was such a beautiful film. The last scene between Zazie Beetz and Winston Duke was incredible.
Loved Santa Barbara and Cruz was my favorite character. This took me way back !!
9 days?
I was having dreams of my mom almost two years after she died, in 2019.
I still miss her and need her, to this day.
Same! My mom died in 2016 and I still have dreams of her sometimes.
A mother's love is with us for life :)
I try to cherish every moment I have with my mum and can't imagine a world without her
My mom died last year. I dream about her off and on.
Same, my Dad passed almost 2 years ago and at 48 I still miss him everyday🥰
9 days also called novena is a Catholic tradition. Ppl pray 9 nights for the soul of the deceases. Catholic believe in purgatory and prayers are made to purification of deceases sins:. So the souls could move on to heaven.
My mom used to get dreams about her father constantly after 1 year of his death. She started to pray for him and stop receiving dreams about him.
Maybe that is happening to u or it could be u are missing your mom
He's a fantastic interview.
The movie sounds really interesting, and the way he describes it sounds beautiful.
Also, Winston Duke is ridiculously gorgeous.
I love him immediately in Black Panther and loved him even more when I heard him in interviews and then in Us. This movie sounds SO interesting
Some Filipinos also do nine days also. They call it a Novena. Prayers, family, friends and almost a festive time. I was in the Philippines for my grandmother's Novena. Her body was in the living room of the house. It kept smelling a floral scent and the family said it was her spirit visiting us. I think it was someone's body wash.
Yes, yes. We say the same. I had an experience about my Granny when she passed & to this day I believe what happened was true!
Novena for all sorts of reasons are commonplace in the Roman Catholic religion. Novena is from the Latin word for nine, novem. Novenas are a series of prayers said for 9 days in a row. How interesting and beautiful it is that 9-day ceremonies are part of other cultures.
@@culibarri2709 + Well I'm from The Caribbean also. Most people don't realize it. But most of us are either Catholic or Christian.
@@SeekThePaleSeptember I knew that most people in the Philippines were Christian. No idea that many of those Christians were Catholic though. Thank you, always nice to learn something new.
In Jamaica, we call it Nine Night, full of singing and eating and drinking and reminiscing about the dead person until we bury them.
Not just great bandleader vibes, but the name already works. Wishing you a long and rich career, Winston!
That outfit of his is wild as hell and I'm here for it
I love it! It's very 70's.
I already love this movie. Sucks for nobody to understand you. Amazing to see a movie where someone would take the time to understand you, even if it is way too late.
Winston Duke, so the band plays "Duke" from Steevie Wonder, well played 😉
It made me tingle 🥰🥰🥰
sir duke, but, yes.
Love this guy hes funny & Down to earth !
The band is always hot fire. I would see the the show for the band

Great actor and charming cat. He’s huge! I agree, would’ve enjoyed a longer interview with him.
🇹🇹 big up t&t ...great job in the movie my country man represent
I like how the segment opened with the Seventh Inning Stretch. I enjoy this guy Winston Duke very much. Very good actor.
OMG.......i can't believe he brought up Santa Barbara and Cruz....holy shit im OLD......btw....i was in love with Mason....😁😁😁
I really appreciate that WInston said 'suicided', as a lot of mental health advocates would prefer we use it as a verb, not as a sin (i.e. 'committed suicide')
Thank you for pointing this out. That word caught my ear for a moment and I dwelled on it. This verb form is more straightforward and honest than any other euphemism we typically use.
Thank you caught my ear as well. Well done
I don't get this. Are you pro-suicide or are you not very good at communicating?
@@eduardolarrymarinsilva76 Why not both? Are you pro- poor reading comprehension by ignoring clear context clues, or are you not very good at empathy?
@@tabularasa that explains nothing
Great interview. It was fun and too short.
i still remember those shows and victor yelling: I don’t give a damn what you think!!
Loving this interview! I watched Santa Barbara! It was the first time I became a fan of Robin Wright! Kelly Capwell. It was my favorite storyline! Winston is definitely charismatic!
Yes! Cruz was played by A Martinez. People never talk about Robin Wright getting her start on SB. They make it sound like The Princess Bride was her first big role.
Yes..I am still a huge fan of Robin..damn...I'm old
Damn they played him in to Sir Duke! Legendary.
That was a fabulous interview - I’m sold on seeing that movie
I just watched Nine Days today. It’s very good. 3 thumbs up from me.

I've loved Winston Duke since he was on Person of Interest. 😍
I'm 4' 111/2 " so - 5 feet 😹Yes, that 1/2" makes a difference. Also - when my mother passed away (in my arms) she spoke to me every night in my dreams, often waking me up thinking she was really there. Love his stories!
Is this a Caribbean thing? This whole island is a soap opera hit close to my puerto rican heart.
In Russia there is such an old anecdote about the Santa Barbara TV series.
One woman, a TV fan, asks another:
- If you went to live in America, in which city?
- In Santa Barbara
- Why?
- I know everyone there 😂
He was phenomenal in that movie. His monologue at the end made me weep!
Such a humble and gentle giant!
The way he described this film's premise & his role in it... Beautiful. Hats off, Sir Duke. 😉

Winston Duke was brilliant in Person of Interest!
Big up my country Sweet T&T 🇹🇹
wow what amazing energy…whoooo!!!
This 9days is also meaningful in the Jamaican culture 🇯🇲
Please bring him back for every thing he does and just give him the airtime because he's delightful
Absolutely delightful
I love that folklore. TBH as he was describing it, the whole soul limbo thing reminded me of SOUL (Jon Batiste's Oscar win!). but also I have had too many ppl in my life take their own lives prematurely (not terminally ill except one), so this whole theme hits close to home. Count me in for this film! Thanks, Sir Duke!
Not a folklore, a belief.
@@candicejeremie877 I stand corrected. But no matter the nomenclature, I still think it's beautiful.
I love Winston Duke! This was a good interview
Needed more. I love you Winston.
Always representing our homeland. His mother is the best.
As a Trinidadian as well, I can testify to the "community theater". If he starts his own soap opera, I want to be on it.
Everyday is a bacchanal wi.
Nine Days was a stunning film. It was beyond a shame it did not get a wider distribution.
I wanted a longer interview!
I remember Santa Barbara. It was my mother’s fave before Bold and the Beautiful took over. Team #CruzandEden 🤣🤣🤣
Also, that machete thing is done in Jamaica too 🤣
I don't remember Santa Barbara but remember bold and beautiful in St Vincent. We only had one channel, we used to pick up young and the restless from Grenada if you twist the antenna just so and put a piece of foil on the top. There was a sweet Trini soap we used to watch too but can't remember the name

Sweet T&T ... It is really like a Soap Opera at times and I have lived it as a kid growing up and after you just laugh at the characters like it was a comedy of some sort ... Amazing culture...
Such a great actor! I just watched "Nine Days", and his performance was phenominal to me.
The film itself was an incredible experience and made me feel something indescribable that is only unique to me.
My nephew is 6’5” and just saw himself standing in a picture by average sized people. He didn’t realize he looked like that so I get what he’s saying.
I’m 6’4 and I’m constantly surprised when I see pics
I'm 6'6, and it's weird to see me stand out so much in pics.
My one brother is 6'6, one uncle of mine is 6'5, and one of my best friends is 6'5. To me it seems so normal but I get where guys that tall feel the need to figure out ways to negate their natural Intimidation Factor. My brother slouches and speaks softly, my uncle jokes and always is smiling, and my bff tries to sit or lean rather than standing up.
He seems like such a nice guy and his new movie sounds really good :)
