Also when grazing, cattle will go for the most desirable parts/grasses first and trample the rest causing lost feed or not complete nutrition whereas zero graze has no trampling waste and ensures cattle eat everything rather than just what is desirable.
@@popandbobyou could accomplish the same thing by simply baling is as silage and storing it. We do it once in the spring and then we are done for the year.
@@Tiger-fv3nl If they do it as one and done they are missing out on 2/3rds of the growing seasons growth. Also there are substantial costs to setting up enough silage capacity whereas grass is cheap and easy.
I'm not really understanding what the point of this is. Why wouldn't you just cut this hay and bale it as silage? That's what we do it works well. We easily Bale enough in the spring to cover all of our needs throughout the year.

They slurry spread. Better distribution.
