  • Gramma remembers loving her pepperoni & salami- it’s a wonder she’s lived so long with all that “healthy” food! Not such fond memories of being in school- “They treated the foreigners like hell!”😳😲”We’ll have trouble”👋💪🏻🤣...

I can see gramma as a young child saying “Oooooh shhhiiitttt” when her mom would sit down the spaghetti in front of her! And Ginga saying “Queeny eat your damn food you shitass”!!

My great grandparents brought my grandfather over here as a small child to work in the copper mines in Calumet Michigan from Yugoslavia. My grandfather was terrified his whole life to even get a traffic ticket because he thought he would be sent back. The way people treated him was horrible and he was ashamed to even teach us our own customs and language. The way we get called just “ white people. “ angers me beyond belief. We are many cultures and races never lose your family history because some day it will be very important to you! My history and heritage was stolen from me because of ignorant people and now I have to dig for it . God bless you and have a beautiful Christmas ladies.

Gramma loves salami and pepperoni, and look at all the horrors they say about it now, that it's soooooooooo bad for you. Lol. Yeah, that's why she's lived a long, healthy life to 105 and counting! Excuse me while I go eat a delicious salami sandwich! ;) Love you, Gramma!! Miss Ginga, hope she's doing well.

Love that she got in the teacher’s face for daughter Sheila. I know for a fact from hearing my own grandparents talk that they’re used to be some mean old broad teachers. Part of our history that kinda been swept under the rug. Being able to spank and use yard sticks and all that. My 10 year old’s mouth fell open when I told him that. We can’t even begin to imagine all the hardships.

I am 52 and my grandfather used to polish my white tennis shoes ALL the time. LOL I stayed with my grandparents a lot and all the way thru high school he would get my shoes and almost every night he would take white shoe polish and put it on my shoes. I hated it and I never understood why until I got older. I loved my grandparents so much and still do. I miss them everyday.

We make Fritters. Call them New Years Cookies (don't know why they're called "cookies" instead of doughnut) because it's a tradition to make them to celebrate the New Year.
A sweeter dough usually with raisins and fried then rolled in sugar when they cool before serving. YUM! One of very few I'll still fry.

Ginga had some sudden onset of dementia. She had some good days when she is pretty much like her old self, and some not so good days. She is still living in her house with her son and DIL. They take care of her but don’t take her out much. Gramma was only visiting her house here but is back in Va living with Sheila full time now, which is 4 hours away from where Ginga lives. And on top of that, Ginga’s family is very private and didnt want her on camera anymore so we had to stop posting videos of her per their request. Sorry
