Question: If our alternate airport wx is forecasted for 700-2 at arrival, and allows standard 600-2 for a precision approach,and has a LPV approach with a DA of 200’ but not an ILS approach, then can we list it as an alternate? Since the FAA doesn’t authorize a LPV as an approved precision approach, I would think not. Anybody? Comments?
Response from Mike Thompson: Approaches are currently in three categories: Non-Precision, Precision, and APV. APVs are not currently considered Precision approaches. Work on this with your CFI-I.
