I am 72 years old and am enthralled by how China, more philosophically, man,
is able to change the geography of the planet. Rickshaws
drawn by human beings were the common means of transport in my lifetime.

Fantastic! I worked in Zhuhai for a number of years from 2005 [and met my partner there] when I heard about this bridge that was to be constructed, unfortunately the billionaire Chinese businessman did not live to see his dream come true. But each one of us that travels to this part of the world down this road will witness just how great his dream really was. His dream became dreams of the businessmen and other ordinary engineers and workers. Now connections can be made between East and West as well as Hong Kong, Macau and the mainland. It use to take me 2 hours by ferry to get from Zhuhai to Hong Kong Airport, now only 30 minutes. Congratulations to all involved in this major event, and one of the newest and greatest marvels of the world in the 21st century. Also, China created a new train line system linking provinces all the way from the capital Beijing; that was another major project that made it all the way to Tibet; and it makes links with the new bridge. I was always amazed how China is able to move over 600 million people during Chinese New Year, so that they can be with their families on this important occasion. Congratulations China!

I am sure when China finally reaches the Moon or Mars these engineering feats will pale in comparison to what lays ahead! Peace and prosperity for all humankind.

what is different between China’s mixed new democracy and US democrasy? US has only two parties to just switching them while China has one. Also there is a party in Taiwan province, that is the second party of China. Not a big difference hah. US democracy works for wealthy people mostly. While China democracy works from poor to wealthy. Everything in China are democracy instead of not choosing party. If their life is better then no need politic stress. Haha. In US people stresses from politic too much because too much things became chaos such as porn, violate, shooting, races, crime and drugs. I am from Mongolia so how you want to beat me as US do always? Tell me. I am thinking China democracy is better democracy among others in the world. 👍👍👍🥰

Kurt Urban I didn't see any, but it should. I don't know, but that's a good question. Maybe the train took a different route, or maybe they use a high-speed train to make up the difference.

You'd think they'd make it so that rail could be laid even if they're not laying rail yet.

No trains.. Only cars. They already have trains everywhere across the mainland and the new bullet train system from HK to Beijing just opened last month. So, they don't need a train system on the bridge.

On a culture / general knowledge level the video is interesting on an engineer perspective it has no explanations on « How it's made » / what and how challenges were overcome.

Perhaps 10 years of serviceability after completion will have to be the most crucial period to finally say that the project is finally a hundred percent. That after unforeseen conditions both man-made or natural are overcome that will give this piece of engineering a real passing test of endurance.
