I loved hearing from a repair man who is very experienced about our babylock and brother machines. Such a wealth of information that we all need to know.
THANK YOU!!! This video just saved me a lot of money I would have had to pay a repair shop. I sat here with my Brother machine all opened up and followed along with what you were doing. The very first thing I learned was that plastic piece could come off without taking the screws and cover plate off everytime. What a timesaver and I feel really dumb. My machine is going on 10 yrs old. It has worked very well for me and I clean it often. I have been having tension issues and have found that giving it a good clean always helps. Well, this time it didn't. While watching you, I pulled out the bobbin case and looked at it closer and found lint, fuzz, and a huge piece of shredded thread. This improved it 99.9% and a little adjustment of the screw fixed it the rest if the way.
QUESTION: once you adjust that screw, should the purple/blue tapey-glue stuff be replaced? If so, do you know what it is called and where I can get some?
This is invaluable information. I’ve been sewing a long time and I just learned more about how a machine works than ever before. Bravo for your efforts in providing this instruction. I sincerely hope you will do more in the future. Thank you!
Very informative but extremely long video. I've been sewing for 50+ years and I still learned a few things. I wish I had a Baby Lock repair man locally that knew this much! I would like to see 15 minute videos max for specific issues. I will check out your website. Thank you! And, thank you very much for not showing an ad every 5 minutes!!
That was really informative. Not scared at all now to give my machine a clean. If you take care of your machines you shouldn’t have many problems. I know I will enjoy using my machine.
I just found this site on 9/11/21. Patrick thank you for explaining everything perfectly. I have a Unity and had a sound every time the needle came down. Needles kept breaking. I learned so much on this site and fixed my machine myself by tipping the machine upside down which was a end of the needle that was hitting under the bottom case. You saved me $250.00 service charge.
I love this guy! What a wonderful soul this guy is! Thank you for the class. I have all ancient machines, and the youngest is a stylist special. Its the only drop in I own or have ever used. Thanks for your guidance...
A very informative video! Thank you for covering so many details! I just purchased a new-to-me BL Decorator's Choice 2 and this has helped to ensure I know how to keep it clean as well as understand how to check on bobbin and upper thread tension. Also, thanks for little tip on wrapping the thread around twice for winding a bobbin.
Are you going to do a class on Embroidery for tension. Free standing lace. My tension on top and bottom are loose. Use the purple bobbin case. Have a Brother 4750 D. Thank you.
Thank you for this great video, so hard to find this type of information and videos on the Baby Lock machines. Wonderful video, book-marked! It's too bad that we cannot open these machines and fix things like timing issues! I work on machines from the 40, 50 and 60, I take them apart, change out gears, fix the timing and it's just a shame that we have to bring machine to a repair shop for a simple fix.
I have a Babylock Ballad and Chorus... Had the ballad serviced in January. Only have abt 115,000K stitches and it is making that "noise!" I brought it in because I had used an iron in interfacing with a project (fabric bookmarks) and the silly stuff left all kinds of little "pellets" debris in my bobbin area.... Like the glue pellets? So I clean often in my bobbin area anyway.... I added oil to the area below the bobbin - is that all I need to do? I don't want to pay another $135 technician fee just to have it looked at - and if they can't "reproduce" the issue I still get charged....i would like to learn to service my own machines. I have five Babylock (two sewing, two serger, and the Euphoria) And I find if you don't buy them locally they don't want I service them very quickly. (even under warranty! 😢)
Great video Patrick easy to follow instructions, I needed to change the return spring on my Brother /embroidery 2650 sewing machine but now assembled the needle threader will not return it stays in the same position, not sure were I have gone wrong .
Hoping you can help. So glad I found you! Need a little help. I repaired the thread holder on my xl-6040 and a little spring came undone while I was putting the case back on. The little spring is still connected on one side close to the tension wheel but I don't know where the other end attaches? Please help! Thanks again!
Thank you Patrick! I truly baby my baby lock machines and finally learned those invaluable tips about checking the bobbin case, needle plate and the tension disc for debris! Also, thank you for advising to occasionally oil the serger. I make a lot of in the hoop projects and find the thread really bounces. I had to take it off the horizontal pin because it would twist as passing through the tension assembly and now i get bouncing with it on the vertical stand. I'm wondering if the stand might be too high? Thank you!
I found your site yesterday and found it very informative. I have two babylock machines - a crescendo and an altair. I was using a thicker thread on the altair, managed to do the auto thread, but now I can't do the auto thread on the 40 wgt threads. I now know that I should not have threaded the heavier thread, however is there anything I can do to fix the auto thread issue without taking the machine in?
Had my unity cleaned and adjusted. He said I had some damage on my hook . Can I continue using my machine until the part comes, without do additional damage? Been on order for a month and may take months to get the new part. Also have had trouble using/adjusting my Character stitches. Had the machine serviced twice. But the character stitches fail to stitch correctly shortly after. Can the hook affect my character decorative? Please help me get back to sewing once again? Karen
I am BEYOND frustrated. My tension check spring broke on my Babylock Jane and I purchased a new one. I was able to remove the tension spring cover/pieces--everything EXCEPT the old spring. I saw no way to get it out except to pull it. Which I did. And with pulling/twisting it came out, but how do I fit the new one on? This is so frustrating because I love my machine, I'm in the middle of a quilt, and there is ZERO information on this anywhere. Do you happen to know how to replace the tension check spring on a Babylock Jane because that would be awesome.
This could be a couple of different things. 1. There is a setting in your machine to change the max speed. 2. This is the more common one, but on the front of your machine is a speed control. If this slider is all the way to the left then it is turned all the way down. You just need to simply slide that back to the right. If this doesn't work either then give our store a call and we can try and see what else could be causing it for you. Hope this helps, Matt
Hi Patrick, I have a SE400 brother sewing and embroidery machine. Any chance do you know where the speed sensor is located? I can't find it anywhere on the internet or brother site.
Hello, I have a Sofia 2 Embroidery machine Babylock. An F05 sensor error came on. I cannot find anything to pinpoint where it would be. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
Has anyone had events of your Baby Lock Destiny just stopping embroidering? Mine was doing that a couple of months ago and I took it to the shop and was told the sensors needed cleaning. It's doing it again and I cleaned and vacuumed it yesterday. Now someone told me it could be the jack for the foot pedal, that if you sew while the foot pedal is plugged in it will screw up the electronics. Any help would be appreciated.
Maybe someone can help me, my machine is doing something I find anywhere, after about 30 min use, when I take my foot of the pedal, the needed stops as it should, but there is a sound like something is still work, she doesn't fully turn off if that makes sense, I have checked everything I could find , loads of tips, nothing,, she sows fine, just this sound like something is still working when it shouldn't be.
I switch on the unit (Baby lock Crescendo Model BLCR ) and receive the message The Guideline Marker was not operating properly" then immediately got a second message saying "A malfunction occurred, turn off, then on" Then the screen freezes! switching of / on the machine makes no difference - same 2 messages and locking of screen ! No solution - any idea ? Thanks !! also to your youtube material !
You have empowered so many of sewing operators. Thank You!
This is one of the best video's that I have ever watched. Thank you!

👍
This was part of our baby lock club very helpful.
Thank you I found several things I was doing wrong with my maintenance. I will correct them now thanks to you.
Thank you for this video. While I do know a lot about machine maintenance, I learned some new things. Thank you!
I loved this information. I found this video after spending hours trying to get my brother embroidery machine to work. Thank you so much.
Awesome video! Thank you very much, I learned so much about everything (troubleshooting, threads, needles, tension, etc). Thank You👏👏👏👏👏
What a great video I am sure that it will save me a great deal of time when I have sewing glitches Thank you so much for sharing your expertise.

Hi Patrick!! Kasey here! Good to see you. I’m loving life in Florida and just got the Solaris II so I’ll be watching all your great videos.
Thank you thank you very educational! 26years? I haven't even been sewing for 26 months
I just found your videos and am so glad I have, learning so much from you, thank you

Thanks
Marry me… lol. Just kidding!😂. I love all that you teach sir, very helpful and not a lot of useless gab! ❤
Thank you
Just saw your video. What causes embroidery machine (Elegante 3) to embroider at very slow speed?
This could be a couple of different things. 1. There is a setting in your machine to change the max speed. 2. This is the more common one, but on the front of your machine is a speed control.
