    You can say a lot of great things about this performance, but the aspect of her talent I think I like the most is her ability to blend her tone with the piano. Unbelievable ear.

      The top notes could sound a little less shrill but she is young.

    Yes, she basically 'interprets the music ' & what is written here very precisely ! Wonderful

    Was für eine seelenvolle, einfühlende Interpretation! Und dieser Ton - clarinettissimo! Auch der Pianist ist ganz hervorragend.

    That opening melody in the 1st movement is an absolute one-off. Was it the best tune he ever wrote? So he saved it for an unimportant little sonata for teaching purposes. Saint-Saens must have had tunes to burn.

    Nice tone, but sounds really rushed. I envision this song meant to be played a bit slower.

    • @youririnsema1148
      @youririnsema1148 6 лет назад +6

      I think that when You play this to slow it gets really boring, but yes this performance was indeed a little faster than most performances

    • @herbertwells8757
      @herbertwells8757 6 лет назад +6

      "Song"? In any case, there are four movements with four different tempos. The third movement is quite slow.

    • @cesteres

      Yeah she should have been more disciplined during the fast part. Now she plays like violinist

    • @ClarinetistsMusic
      @ClarinetistsMusic 5 лет назад +5

      The speed is quite right - there are some really slow recordings, but I like her tempo a lot. I would also play it at that tempo.

    • @azureicewind
      @azureicewind 5 лет назад +1

      if you play too slow you lose momentum so it's difficult to keep the support

  • @xbionicfireplayzx1192

    • @xbionicfireplayzx1192

      in random spots she is stressing notes and slowing down slighlty. To many swells, but hey, better than me!

      It all depends on how you want to express it. It isn’t one of those pieces that are exactly by the book.

  • @avarmadillo
    @avarmadillo 5 лет назад +4

    This gal has a long way to go. Send her some recordings by Harold Wright---that should help getting the un-centered, hollow quality of her sound. Tongue position--too low and forward---more character in phrasing. this sounds like a first time reading.

    • @rachelsimms6822
      @rachelsimms6822 5 лет назад

      And I thought it was just me.... i agree wholeheartedly. The upper registers especially lacking the richness we strive to accomplish. Sloppy and without love for the piece.
      But, if i was not a clarinet player I would enjoy it for what it is.

      rachel simms I am going to play the second movement for a contest... I’m an eighth grader (third year playing) and I’m actually kind of terrified after listening to her play it. Do you suggest I play it a bit slower (even though I’m a great player for my age)?

    • @rachelsimms6822
      @rachelsimms6822 5 лет назад

      I’m sure you have a different tone as we all do.

      @@addisonwillis46 Amazing to know that you are a great player for your age. I would't do the contest. The jury would only bring you down. It is indeed terrifying how incredibly expressive she plays. Would't do that if I were you.
