This was the first SRV and DT song I ever heard. I had just gotten off of work and stopped to grab some beer. Got in the truck and when the radio came on, this started playing and I just sat there listening saying" Who the Hell is this?" Been a fan ever since. There are several videos where he breaks a string and performs a guitar switch without missing a note.
Now this is some hardcore Texas blues. I live in Austin and there's a larger than life bronze statue of Stevie Ray in Zilker Park. Even though he was originally from Dallas, he became famous in Austin, TX.
Love Little Sister with Jeff Healey in Canada. Stevie discovered Jeff in Canada and got him to play onstage with him. Jeff became famous and played with all of the greats. Jeff was playing in town at another club the night Stevie jumped on the helicopter and in the morning they were all stunned at their loss of SRV.
The change of guitars was because he broke a string in the middle of his solo, Lee. SRV is so smooth he didn't miss a beat, and then his guitar tech was so on it, that he was ready with a replacement guitar just at a nod.
Thanks, L33 - one of my very favorite performances: Reese Wynans on keys (check out Reese.. in every performance, when he's done.. he raises his left hand).. AND.. the string break/guitar switch.. appreciate your reaction!
Reece the Beast, the best broken string guitar switch you're ever going to see. SRV and Double Trouble. Tommy, Chris and Reece and SRV, It's going to hard to find a tighter band.
Very entertaining! Even a broken string didn’t interrupt SRV’s smooth performance! It’s nice being introduced to a talent like Stevie Ray Vaughan’s. It is sad to know that it comes after he has gone… Thank you, Lee and Connie!
Reese is still amazing. I saw him with Joe Bonomassa not too long ago. Not sure if Reese is traveling with Joe now or if he was sitting in for someone. Either way, it was a treat. Reese was inducted into hall of fame as Double Trouble member.
In 1985 Stevie and the boys were in the studio and somewhat stalled trying to record Soul to Soul. Stevie had wanted a sax player and a piano player for the Look at Little Sister track and Reese was contacted. Reese and Stevie knew of each other but had never met to that point. They completed 3 tracks the first day/night and 3 more during the second, at which point Reese was asked to join the band. Reese accepted and asked Stevie to let him know which songs he was expected to play on during live performances, to which Stevie replied; "Well , you're one of us now, so....all of them".
I don’t think you noticed that he popped the string continued playing you didn’t even notice and then the sweetest guitar change ever the smoothest guitar ever!
When he breaks a string, he can switch guitars effortlessly. He also would change guitar if he didn't like the sound or couldn't tune it to his standard. Life Without You. Reese has been touring with Joe Bonamassa. Still has it.
👏🙌🎸🎶‼️Another great reaction Lee👌and shout out to my SRV Blues Sister💙💙 Connie👋✌️. Yes Reece is beyond awesome🎹! He joined the group in August 1985 until the end. He brought so much to the table creating a fuller, richer sound and able to take solo leads giving Stevie a much needed break from carrying it all himself. As good as Reece is, he even said he felt like he had to step up his game after joining. Right after you said Tommy and Chris are holding it down Stevie broke a string which you couldn't hear but had to see, (I don't think you saw it) He kept playing until Rene brought him a replacement. You saw the smooth switch out which resembles a top tier race car pit crew! Thanks for our Stevie Sunday Lee🎸🎶💙👌❣️
@@L33Reacts I had mentioned in another comment that there is the 90 minutes of "In Session" the studio recording video of Stevie and Albert King, one of his idols and mentors that is not blocked. It shows the personal admiration and respect these two had for each other and is a whole a treasure of Pleasure💙🎶🎸💙 for when you are looking for new material for Stevie Sunday✌️ Can be watched song by song…
Not only was SRV a GREAT, GREAT guitarist, but he was also a GREAT human being. All monies they were paid for performances was evenly split between the 4 of them.
Forever missed master SRV. He always seemed liked a good doobie; as do you brother. Nice T dude. I remember the original tour shirts when I was a boy. Stevie gives Reese a lot of rope in the later years because he was great and it took pressure off Stevie, lifting the whole band.
After Stevie died, the band took a break for awhile. It was a very hard loss for them. They came back together as the Arc Angels for a period; Reese is now playing with Joe Bonamassa, a great blues guitarist. I think they've all done some collaborations since DT broke up, with other artists as well as each other. The connection you feel to Stevie, I think many of us share. He put so much of himself and his soul into his music, that his presence and energy still resonates on some strange, deep level in these performances. Listening to Riviera Paradise from this live performance in Austin, feels as though Stevie is still sending out his beautiful message through his music.
It’s not just the guitar change that’s amazing- they changed the strap too! It would have been so much easier to bring out a new guitar with a strap already on, but why for hints the easy way?! 🤣🎸💥
friend, take a look,,,, ''crossfire life at nigth music'',, there's also a good live ''stevie ray vaughan w.c.clark little thing'',,,,greetings from Lisbon Portugal
Man, when I bought this Cd and put this song on, I was hooked to SRV. I told all my friends this guy is going to be hot. Best guitar I heard in a long time. Miss you brother RIP 🎸🎶
For Stevie Sunday... you'll LOVE not only the passionate guitar solos, but the vocals... in "Ain't Gone 'n' Give Up On Love" (at the Capitol Theater, 1985). An SRV original, and Stevie to the core! Thanks, L33, for treating us to your reactions, and especially those to this man's gift. (I love Reese as well, and Tommy and Chris, too. Once, when introducing Double Trouble after the addition of Reese to the band, Stevie ad libbed that they were now "Triple Threat" instead of Double Trouble.) 💙😉🎶
Man, when i was ur age in the mid to late 90's me & all my friends listened to pretty much exactly the stuff ur reacting to: the beatles, srv, dylan, etc, etc...just running the gamut of all this older stuff...its so awesome to see that in this world of digital fakeness that people are still really enjoying the old world stuff & getting into it to the point of learning all of the band members' names (when u said "go Reece" it made me write this comment, its exactly the kind of thing my best friend would say back then) ...anyway, cool stuff, great reaction, & yeah, this music will never die, its just too good & goat'ed:)
I love those Pagannini moments where an artist breaks a string and plays around it. I was at a Satriani concert at Summerfest once, where Joe broke a string during something like Summer Song, and finished the song, solos and all playing around the broken string. Epic. Great reaction yet again. Rock on, Lee!
Seemed like you missed the reason for the guitar switch - Stevie broke a string a minute before and played right through it - didnt even sound like it affected the song.
Slickest guitar switch I've ever seen....love SRV. The book Texas Flood is a must read. 💚🎶🎵
The GOAT. Popped a string, changed guitars.........and DIDN'T MISS A BEAT !!
Change It is another great SRV song with a groove. Solid reaction Lee, thanks for having so many thoughts and sharing them with us.
That guitar switch is like watching a pit crew @ a NASCAR race
Reece is a force of nature. Ive known him for 30 years working in studio and live settings here in Nashville. And he still has it at age 76.
Aint nothing like a busted, string, ..and never miss a a beat. ❤

I can watch Stevie Ray Vaughan play anything all day long and not get tired of it
This is absolutely amazing, but I'm partial to SRV playing this song with our homeboy Jeff Healey. It's worth a look/listen Lee!
Agree. That performance was outstanding
Also my pick too‼️🎶🎸

SRV ~ 🎸🐐 The goatiest goat in all of goatness
Stevie kills it everytime

If you haven't already you should also react to Riviera Paradise from the same concert. That one has a very nice piano solo by Reese.
Stevie was always so generous with Reese, and it was genuine.
Still breaks my heart that he is gone. Thanks, Lee for another stellar Stevie Sunday.
Reece the Beast, the best broken string guitar switch you're ever going to see. SRV and Double Trouble. Tommy, Chris and Reece and SRV, It's going to hard to find a tighter band.
He missed a couple notes that were added back in post, watch closely you will see it. Still a decently fast guitar switch.
Arguably, one of the BEST blues guitarists *_EVER !!!!!!_*
SRV, R.I.P.
Very entertaining!

Reese still killing it with Joe Bonamassa! Stevie is one of Joe's guitar heroes!
Reece's hands are almost like foriegn, alien beings that move in strange & otherworldly ways😂🤣😂🤣
Great straight-ahead blues...letting the music speak for itself...

Thanks Harriet💙. What a fantastic way to inherit a blues sister, but with SRV!!!❤️

Reese played like jerry lee Lewis.. real 🔥 . Luv the switch off guitars so smooth
THIS cut played with the great Jeff Healy is great on steroids.
Do it. Do it. Do it.
Watching them play is fantastic. Thanks to requesters for going for live videos over studio. Thanks so much, Connie :)
Such a great show! Glad we get to watch it 😀

The next song of his you have to listen to is Life by the Drop.
I like this period in his life because his eyes are open and his music has more blues rock style. Nobody like SRV.
You can't go wrong with Stevie Ray !
I can’t wait to see your reaction to this one!!!

First time I was introduced to SRV was watching his Live from Mocambo Club…….insane talent

Love your Stevie Sundays
Just happen to be wearing my SRV t-shirt today. Memorial Day ya know.
I'm no expert but pretty sure it's for fallen combat military members. But every day is SRV remembrance day. Rock on 🤘🤘
Stevie's always amazing!
YES HE IS!!!
COLD SHOT.
My bad live from the greek theatre. Reese is still tearing it up
As clean as a Formula 1 pit stop.
In another reaction, someone put it this way...
Reese 6 out of 6
SRV 6 out of 6
Strings 5 out of 6
You should check ot some Rory Gallagher anther amazing blues player
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Seemed like you missed the reason for the guitar switch - Stevie broke a string a minute before and played right through it - didnt even sound like it affected the song.
A string broke on the guitar
Reese now plays with Joe Bonamassa. Check out some of therir stuff on tha live from the beacon must see in my opinion
He switches guitars because he broke a string
Wait! Till ya see, Jerry lee Lewis play with his feet, elbows, and butt piano "The Killer!" is best I'm sure Reese was inspired!
SRV to me is one of the greatest guitar players, but I have a suggestion, check out Zakk Wylde (Mississippi Queen yeaahh) live.
Hey! Reese plys in Jimmy Vaughans band now if you want to catch his current playing
Reese is playing with Joe Bonamassa.
He broke a string and had to change guitars
I'm tired of LIVE Stevie Ray. Studio album versions are better when discovering new music unless otherwise specified.
I'll make sure to let everyone know. 😌
Yawn
@L33Reacts haha, all we see from everyone is Stevie Ray from Austin. Just try some album stuff as a change-up
I love studio SRV of course, but I’ll take the live videos all day long.
@@conniehorton1981I "listen" to Stevie in my car otherwise I really love watching him playing! Just magic!
