WOW that absolutely MADE my day to read this! No musician should ever have to accept pain as a part of their music-making, so I'm so glad you found your way to playing more comfortably! 🎉🎉🎉
I absolutely love this, soooo helpful!!! Thank you! I’m still having some shoulder tightness at the tip of the bow in the A string and it’s hard to visualize the table concept when my arm is so far from the strings, maybe I’m still not relaxed enough?
This is great. I’ve never heard this explanation before. I need a lot of help in understanding what and how I’m supposed to FEEL as I bow, so I really appreciate this. It never occurred to me that I should be able to detect movement in the lower back muscles! Whaaat? But yeah, I can feel it at least right now without a bow in my hand. I’m really hopeful I’ll be able to sense this movement when I practice today. If this actually helps me, I’ll let you know. ONE QUESTION: should I expect to feel this movement less on the A and D strings than on the G and C strings? If you have any other advice for body movements to pay attention to, I’d really love to know. It’s very difficult to keep the shoulder relaxed on the A & D strings.
best explanation of what to feel when bowing with body weight!
I recently made my peace with the fact that my back and shoulder will always hurt, but you just made my pain go away with your tips. Thank youu!

Also! Try making your thumb more loose! It might seem smalll, but it’s those small muscles that have a big impact on your bigger muscles.
Thank you for sharing these tips your generosity is so helpful

My left shoulder is so inflexible, there's no way I can reach my fat back right now. I need to stretch!!!
