In terms of a hooper I’ll take Kyrie because he can score elite on around the rim, midrange, post, and 3 ball while having the best handles in NBA history. He doesn’t flop or foul bait into getting free throws either he actually has to absorb contact just to get to the free throw line
I used to play NBA live 2002 back in the day when I was 6-7 years old, and I took Michael Jordan, maxed out his stats, and played like Steph Curry, chucking 50-60 3’s a game. Curry’s that guy.
Yea james harden they guy who took 1000 3s in 2018 steph never shot that many ever in his career this is why nobody can do what steph does and should stop imitating it
I fully agree with Gil, Hardens whole package in a total changed basketball . The rules, everybody’s natural package, even Joel embiid is trying to do his step back . A whole gather zero step came out of nowhere. Imagine if KOBE BEAN BRYANT HAD THESE RULES . He’d average at least 40 in one season.
And also the lack of ball movement. It's funny how people only want to pick up the bad habits of a player and ignore the good habits. For example, people think of Kobe. They think of isos but they don't think of beautiful butterfly like off-ball game. Where he actually got more than half of his shots from catching shoots. Even Allen Iverson would be considered a top three offball player because a lot of his points came from catch and attack. It's to the point that they called the Iverson cut. But nobody remembers that nor emulated. People just emulate the bad
It’s Iverson he was the first moving with out the ball the first doing the step back to score he was the first point guard dribble to a paten then score harden nd the rest of these players who play the point guard to score is from Iverson idk why this is not mentioned yall sorry for just letting the world not know the truth it’s the Answer!!
Im so glad this is getting covered. James gets swept under the rug too much. Not even a harden fan, but you cant deny he changed ball on a similar scale to curry.
@st.toussaint4632 yes fool, look at your favorite young shot creators, TATUM, ANT, LUKA, Donavan and even Shai to a certain extent do that lil tween tween top of the key isolation stepback 3. At high volume too. That's harden influence right there
Gil is right everybody does iso and try step backs even the 3 pointers they shoot are step backs and double step backs even big men try to be harden but teams are doing Steph way that’s why everybody even the big men have to be 3 pt shooters
I agree. Harden definitely influenced more with what players have in their bag/how they attack the idea of offense. But Steph changed the culture of how teams and players are scoring. The new generation puts harden type moves on display just to transition to a Steph type bag when actually attempting to score by shooting a 3. Look how many 3s guys take now, and the range of the shots. That’s Steph. But gil is right. Steph is one of one. Dudes can’t copy Steph. It’s easier to copy harden.
You know what’s crazy is neither Curry or Harden were the pioneers of their play style. Harden’s play style was Gilbert Arenas on steroids with crazy freedom. Curry plays like Mahmoud Abdul Rauf but the 90’s didn’t allow for the freedom to shoot 3s like it does now.
You crazy..Gil was just bigger stronger and faster than most of his matchups and he was a ballhog(no disrespect). James plays with sooo much creativity we have never seen anything like that. He’s lowkey from the Steve Nash cloth ..we’ve never seen anyone like James Steph is nothing like Abdul..maybe just the consistent burner but that’s it. Steph is a blend of Reggie Miller, Ray Allen and Nash. Look at Dame game and compare it to Steph. One has a burner and the other has a burner with an imagination So they are indeed the pioneers of their style
I disagree with rashads point on steph being an iso scorer on the pg. First off, most pgs in the league aren't good defenders so alot of cross matches happen anyway, but steph has beaten those iso pg match ups all the time as well
I think Gil needs to remember WINNING plays a big role in influence. People see Steph's game as winning basketball, even if they are doing a poor version of it. Harden's playstyle, while it does affect the game, it hasn't changed the landscape of the entire game. Even Caitlyn Clarke's game is modeled after Steph's.
Harden is definitely influential. Harden and the rockets changed the game just as much as steph and the warriors did. Thiw years Celtics are basically the 2018-2020 rockets 2.0 with better personnel.
Man, it's Harden. Yall saw that kid do a step back free throw. them fans are just picking steph cause that's who they like I bet they walk in the gym and do a step back 3 rather than a regular. 3 lol
Iso plays started way back from MJ to KOBE and MELO, heck anyone can do ISO, but Steph was the one who changed the game, big man throwing threes rather than in the post. Thats the reality.
I'm so glad somebody thinks it I've been saying this for yrs harden and ginobili are the same player with a few differences and now add luka they move at their own pace they get into the paint at will and are magicians theyre not fast but you cant stay in front of them
@Fearseblack I see you need to comprehend better..I stated Trailblazer whom style resonated with modern players as the game has elevated..I doubt if you seen any Elgin Baylor games...
If i was Rashad, I would glaze over my NBA "career" and just keep it on the Tarheel yrs. As far as Harden his impact of showing youngsters 2 things. 1. Choking in the Playoffs 2. Dribble, Dribble , Dribble.
The most impressive part about harden reaching 2nd all time 3 is that most of them were unassisted, just straight iso buckets off the dribble, man was a monster 😮💨🔥🔥
Yes, many nba players incorporated a few of Harden's moves into their own games. But Steph changed the way the entire way the game is played. Once the Warriors proved that you could win championships with the 3-ball, damn near every player in the league got a green light to shoot 3s. So even if players aren't specifically copying Steph's particular style, the WAY they play (and the way rosters are constructed) is almost entirely due to Steph and the Warriors.
Honestly I agree with Cam. I play more of a James harden style of ball over Steph style. And when I’m playing pickup it’s mostly iso no one running plays and hand offs for 3s. It’s just 5 out iso ball
Both have changed the game. Harden changed the way that individual players play since you got players like Tatum forgetting he is 6’8. But Steph has done that aswell, in addition, he’s fully influenced how teams play. No disrespect to harden because he does go overlooked but Steph is still way more influential on the game
What Curry really did was make the normal person believe they could play. You watch the Jordans, Kobes, James, etc. of the league and they are super-human. Their physical attributes alone distance them from the weekend hooper or watcher. Sure, we watch in awe and celebrate their outstanding plays, but they are over there and we are over here. And then Curry came along. Under sized. Average speed. Nothing physically imposing. Heck, if you met him at the park, and you didn't know better, you would say "let's run". But, he became the elite through work, dedication, and unique skillset. Everyone watched in awe as "David took down goliath" again and again. From this, the average weekend player and watcher began to think "maybe I can". This changed basketball.
Steph probably also had an impact on the way James developed his game. At OKC James wasn't playing the style he plays now. Most players who had a certain package added 3s because they saw how effective it was with Steph. Regardless if it follows Steph 3 or they had to make space in other ways to get it off.
Your hard focusing on off ball thing is Steph pick and role game is super elite and iso game is super elite. However, curry breaks the game while being a small guard. To me he is the greatest player to play. He won’t have the accolades, but his actual impact on the game has never been seen.
All 3s aren´t the same. Even though there are players that shoot the 3 at a higher volume, percentage, and even score more than Steph, they still cannot attain Steph's level. His 3s seems to be worth 25 points when he gets going. Its a whole other experience. Harden brought in innovative footwork to the game to help create space behind the arc that helped usher in a host of new offensive moves for this era. Both players deserve their flowers
I’m glad somebody gave Elgin Baylor his credit for inventing “The Baylor Step”💯 Europe colonize Elgin Baylor move & called it “The Euro Step”😡 Baylor being doing this since the 50s & up, hell even Dr. J was doing “The Baylor Step” in the 70s💯
McCants is 100% correct. If you ever watch Steph play consistently then you would know he isn’t trying to go 1on1 iso. That’s not his best attribute. Can he do it ? Yes. But the team offense is elite because of his movement without the ball. His pick & roll game & even him as a screener. James harden is the better iso player. Most kids copy his bag. But Steph changed the culture to a 3pt league.
No it didn't. The entire suns offense was based off the theory 7 seconds or less. It mattered not if it was a 3 or a 2 just that the offense was super quick to shoot. Steph and klay changed the nba on lebrons watch lol
Gil is arguing who package is they takin more from not who is more influential. Yesppl wanna do MORE OF what harden does because it’s flashy. But curry shooting and making threes at an alarming rate changed the whole game completely
The most influential hooper had to be shaq…he made rules change, the way they built the hoop changed, the way teams were built changed, he had the ref triple guessing what was a foul on both end dealing with him, he went double platinum rapping off of that influence, became a movie star off that influence…really based on influence he affected every aspect you could from hooping…hell shaq got reebox inside wal-mart
Steve Kerr's system had more of an impact than Steph. The sets they were running changed the game but he was influenced by Dantoni, who's probably the most influential offensive coach in history.

@@dequanadams8107 lol man curry was taking 9 and 11 3 per game in 2015, jarden attempt still half in that year, 3 years later harden and lillar start doing the same, from 2012 till 2018 curry was leading the league in pull up shot and was the only one allow t do it. curry influence harden and lillard.
@@gsuandre5579 I’m not about to argue about this fam all u got to do is look it up Harden shoots way more 3s off the dribble than curry do
@@dequanadams8107 lol. curry was shooting more off the drible 3 in 2014 than harden was shooting 3s in general. you all forget basketball history to easy. NBA start playing like curry in 2018 or 2019, curry was playing likethat in 2013-2014. and he was leading every single category in 3 all those year.
@@dequanadams8107 harden didnt try that before curry did it first for 4 years. so no, harden didn't invent that is a copy of curry green light that every team copy after the warrior won championship playing that way.
No one remembers how many forth quarters steph sat out when he was hot, throwing flames. Go back and look.
Rashad was so off this segment. Not sticking to the point of what statement was made and was just chatting😭🤣
He's been doing good lately so we all letting him slide, notice the comments are not destroying mccants rn lol, he got 2 more times though loool
He off a fresh bump. U see he got the napkin on deck. Who tf carries napkins 😂

Harden validated analytics…3 or layups, no midrange…now that’s the whole game…
Harden took the Euro from Ginobli & incorporated it more as a pure scorer!💯 Goin up & under ur arm for fouls, CP3, & KD had that prior & they BOTH got it from "Kobe"💯 (who admitted that move was taught to him by MJ) Jumpin & kickin ur legs forward to make it seem like the defender is in ur landin spot, THAT was solely James💯 the double step back THAT was solely James💯 The between the legs dribble dribble dribble over half the shot clock away, THAT was solely James💯
Sarunas Marciulionis was eurostepping long before Manu.
Rule changes neutralized Harden. It’s about time he got back to himself now.
so many players took his iso dribble.
James harden impact is definitely more than it gets talk about they both got kids out here playin like it’s a video game
Gilbert game closer to Harden than Curry thats why he argue for Harden. Curry has more influence at every level period
yeah buddy u obviously are blinded by curry’s greatness and completely misunderstood this topic and gilbert arenas/cam thomas take… try watching the vid again
In terms of a hooper I’ll take Kyrie because he can score elite on around the rim, midrange, post, and 3 ball while having the best handles in NBA history. He doesn’t flop or foul bait into getting free throws either he actually has to absorb contact just to get to the free throw line
How you tell stories is unmatched!
i literally modeled my game after harden when i played jv
Steph and harden have people playing like it’s and 1 mixtape at the park. Sickening
I used to play NBA live 2002 back in the day when I was 6-7 years old, and I took Michael Jordan, maxed out his stats, and played like Steph Curry, chucking 50-60 3’s a game. Curry’s that guy.
Bro its curry or jordan period
Comparing harden to curry is crazy work
How
The last 2 mins is why I know Gil be trollin with a lot of his takes. 😄
I hate the three game because of Steph. I like James's impact more
Yea james harden they guy who took 1000 3s in 2018 steph never shot that many ever in his career this is why nobody can do what steph does and should stop imitating it
Both have made a major impact on and influenced the game 💯
I just want to be "like Mike"
For once I agree with Gil, it needs to start at a single digit age.
In order to influence a team, you have to influence the individual players so make it make sense. Steph all day.
#CurryGoat!🐐☝🏼
Im so glad this is getting covered. James gets swept under the rug too much. Not even a harden fan, but you cant deny he changed ball on a similar scale to curry.
Similar scale?
You must be five
@st.toussaint4632 yes fool, look at your favorite young shot creators, TATUM, ANT, LUKA, Donavan and even Shai to a certain extent do that lil tween tween top of the key isolation stepback 3. At high volume too. That's harden influence right there
@@hacimdoowlla2730 harden dame all influenced by steph hes the grandfather but yes james did influence alot of the youth as well
Gil is right everybody does iso and try step backs even the 3 pointers they shoot are step backs and double step backs even big men try to be harden but teams are doing Steph way that’s why everybody even the big men have to be 3 pt shooters
Nope . Harden pioneered his style . He the first one doing it
You crazy..Gil was just bigger stronger and faster than most of his matchups and he was a ballhog(no disrespect). James plays with sooo much creativity we have never seen anything like that. He’s lowkey from the Steve Nash cloth ..we’ve never seen anyone like James
Steph is nothing like Abdul..maybe just the consistent burner but that’s it. Steph is a blend of Reggie Miller, Ray Allen and Nash. Look at Dame game and compare it to Steph. One has a burner and the other has a burner with an imagination
So they are indeed the pioneers of their style
Lol james harden pioneered flopping in more rediculous ways
U can’t compare anyone to curry
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤪
Harden can pass creative with it as well… harden starts with the med range step back
Well technically James harden influenced Steph Curry to shoot the step back like how he was doing it
I disagree with rashads point on steph being an iso scorer on the pg. First off, most pgs in the league aren't good defenders so alot of cross matches happen anyway, but steph has beaten those iso pg match ups all the time as well
James harden to me looks the most fluid in a isolation situation the man is cold and was even colder 7 years ago
Steph game is fundamental but nobody practices fundamentals anymore everyone want a flashy game like harden
Ppl wanna get buckets like harden mfs not running off screens like Steph to get easy shots
Gil is right you defo see more people do the step back than shooting 3s
Ginobolli was the trail blazer of that style
I'm so glad somebody thinks it I've been saying this for yrs harden and ginobili are the same player with a few differences and now add luka they move at their own pace they get into the paint at will and are magicians theyre not fast but you cant stay in front of them
Since when did the spurs run ISO’s ? Let alone for ginobili? Only thing same is lefty n euro
Ginobolli ain't invent that style, y'all love giving credit to anyone except black players from the 70s. Elgin Baylor did a eurostep in the 60s
@Fearseblack I see you need to comprehend better..I stated Trailblazer whom style resonated with modern players as the game has elevated..I doubt if you seen any Elgin Baylor games...
@@Neil-q6r did you watch any of Ginobolli games before the Spurs?
Gay Z and LeCumstain going to prison ahahahahaha
If i was Rashad, I would glaze over my NBA "career" and just keep it on the Tarheel yrs. As far as Harden his impact of showing youngsters 2 things. 1. Choking in the Playoffs 2. Dribble, Dribble , Dribble.
MJ if it was no Mj there be no Kobe no Kobe there be no Lebron etc… Respect MJ! Shoes still selling out haven’t touched hardwood since 2003
The most impressive part about harden reaching 2nd all time 3 is that most of them were unassisted, just straight iso buckets off the dribble, man was a monster 😮💨🔥🔥
It also took him 700 more 3pt attempts just to pass Ray Allen.
@@remnant8898 that’s what happens when someone sits in the corner waiting for 3’s vs having to create them off the dribble
3:09 McCants is a hypocrite but this was facts
Damng this thought one but yall was able to get me some understanding here .. however ima go with martin on this one
Talking about packages in 2024 is wild😂😂
Harden is the best combo guard of all time
Both have changed the game.
Gay Z and Lecumstain going down ahahahahahah it’s over
Steph probably also had an impact on the way James developed his game.
James game is fire but it don’t equal to team success. Curry games do, James game might look more flashy, with curry games of team win championship
U give Harden a prime Kd prime Klay prime draymond he would of won also cs a injury cp3 injury Dwight injury Westbrook
lebron didnt need that to win championships nor did giannis kawhi or jokic. Another man needs another man situation to be successful? Damn that's sad
Do we have to take McCants serious? Ion know how y’all do it 😂
I’m glad somebody gave Elgin Baylor his credit for inventing “The Baylor Step”💯 Europe colonize Elgin Baylor move & called it “The Euro Step”😡 Baylor being doing this since the 50s & up, hell even Dr. J was doing “The Baylor Step” in the 70s💯
It is not closer than that! It's Steph baby!!!!! Gg❤
Stephs game is reggie miller 2.0 . Steph says this himself cause reggie was his favorite player.
Don't forget ray allen
@@steamz3607ray was bouncy Steph and Reggie not so much
He also used to watch Steve Nash a lot
Cam was right.
Teams are shooting 3s because of Steph but PLAYERS are PLAYING like James.
Not everyone want to dribble like Harden but everyone want to shoot like Steph🐐🐐🐐
Harden a goat Steph a goat too
KMart is always the voice of reason on this show
You know harden got the 2nd most 3s right?
Jimmer Fredette vs Gonzaga in 2011 changed the game for youth basketball. IYKYK.
100% harden is more influential. My step backs since 2016 are insane at this point.
The increase in three pointers started before Steph was even drafted with D’Antoni’s Suns teams.
No it didn't. The entire suns offense was based off the theory 7 seconds or less. It mattered not if it was a 3 or a 2 just that the offense was super quick to shoot. Steph and klay changed the nba on lebrons watch lol
lol shad tripping 😂😂😂
Gil is arguing who package is they takin more from not who is more influential. Yesppl wanna do MORE OF what harden does because it’s flashy. But curry shooting and making threes at an alarming rate changed the whole game completely
Harden with the step back and Curry with the 3 shooting.
Steph n klay are literally the reason the nba is why it is today
Steve Kerr's system had more of an impact than Steph. The sets they were running changed the game but he was influenced by Dantoni, who's probably the most influential offensive coach in history.
