What is a good way to locate iliac crest on a bigger patient that you can palpate? Someone said you can ask for them to tell you where their belly button is. Is that true?
You can ask them where their belly button is! It isn’t an exact science but it can help if you can not feel the Iliac crest at all. The belly button most times is in line with the iliac crest
Can you keep the eyes open during this procedure?l am a bit worried because l accidentally looked at it and it keeps on niggling at the back of my mind.😥
Try to start at the iliac crest, use your finger pads not the tips, and follow it to the most anterior surface. Once your fingers are feeling the bony protuberance and are not pointing up or down and you are at the most anterior point you should be good.

The x-rays are only going where the light shows, even so, your eyelids will not protect your eyes from xrays
I cant palpate the ASIS for the life of me 🥹
