I used to make a lot of these on another channel and was inspired to get back into it with the most recent Archspire album: "Bleed The Future".
I used FL Studio to create the MIDI composition and GXSCC to emulate a retro sound chip.
MIDI started with the official Sheet Happens GP7 files.
Drums were transcribed by ear as they were not included in the original MIDI file and several other compositional changes were made from the tabs.
Guitars were panned to match the recording, instruments were changed for the interlude parts and volumes and velocities were tweaked extensively so that no post audio processing was needed.

8 bit versions of songs are genius because I find that stripping it down and simplifying the sound really reveal the intended progression of the song and how it adds elements on as it goes. I feel like when the drummer goes apeshit it doesn’t translate that amazingly to 8 bit though😂
