I am sharing this with all my Catholic grade school friends. So many of us haven't heard this since the 60's- before they stopped the beauty of the Latin music in church. As very young children we were taught these songs and could sing them by heart. Thanks for the translation as well. Christians all over the world need to pray this every day for the protection of God during the coming evil.
As I heared the beautiful voice of the woman 0:48 I couldn't help it but to write hier what I felt. I got shudders! BEAUTIFUL! Great video! THANK YOU! Now added in my favorites. ALL GLORY BELONGS TO GOD FOREVER AND EVER!
I still shake my head why the Church gave up this deeply moving music, moving to God.. and replaced it with the likes of "His Banner over me is Love". I have taught children for many years. They can learn these Latin hymns as we did , and they love them. The lyrics alone are theological masterpieces and are catechetical. The 60's and 70's sure set the world on a strange path!.. it's not pretty either. Thanks for uploading this gorgeous hymn! May more listen to it, and yes, study St.Thomas' writings.
paul wood Thank you Paul for your wisdom, I love this music and listen to it daily. I think it was an intentional movement by some specifically to move the Church militant away from “Glorifying God” in seeing and worshipping God with the respect he deserves. This lack of reverence can especially be seen in the mass. Look at what’s happened...these priest were reduced in the mass and moved away from lives of prayer. However there are many listening to these beautiful hymns for the first time and those of us coming back to them exposing our souls to the holiness, glory and adoration of God the Father, God the Holy Spirit and to God the Son...please pray without ceasing
Nel vibrante bronzo della lingua latina, sublimi espressioni rivelanti il mondo costruito per mezzo della grazia. Quasi per diretta mediazione di Thomas lo Spirito move l'inno miracolosamente autentico.
Why not like the text? I'm a Christian, but I love the text of the Muslim call to prayer. The text is beautiful in it of itself without having to be devoted to it or believe in it.
The Father who has revealed Himself in Jesus Christ and in His word is not hidden from those who believe on Christ Jesus and believe His word. Only a mystery religion considers God to be hidden as it does not believe on Jesus Christ and believes that the traditions and writings of men, even those of pagans are higher than the word of God.
doro te devote, latens Deitas, Quæ sub his figuris vere latitas; Tibi se cor meum totum subjicit, Quia te contemplans totum deficit.Quia te contemplans totum deficit. Visus, tactus, gustus in te fallitur, Sed auditu solo tuto creditur. Credo quidquid dixit Dei Filius; Nil hoc verbo veritátis verius. In cruce latebat sola Deitas, At hic latet simul et Humanitas, Ambo tamen credens atque confitens, Peto quod petivit latro pœnitens. Plagas, sicut Thomas, non intueor: Deum tamen meum te confiteor. Fac me tibi semper magis credere, In te spem habere, te diligere. O memoriale mortis Domini! Panis vivus, vitam præstans homini! Præsta meæ menti de te vívere, Et te illi semper dulce sapere. Pie Pelicane, Jesu Domine, Me immundum munda tuo sanguine: Cujus una stilla salvum facere Totum mundum quit ab omni scelere. Jesu, quem velatum nunc aspicio, Oro, fiat illud quod tam sitio: Ut te revelata cernens facie, Visu sim beátus tuæ gloriæ. Amen
