I'm a 44 year old dude and I had the EXACT same reaction when it dawned on me what i was watching. Okami has always held such a special place in my heart and i never thought we'd ever get a sequel. Words really can't describe how happy that announcement made me.
I screamed when I heard the music sting and saw Ammy running through the woods. It looks like such a beautiful homage to the original Tech Demo trailer they planned before Okami'a official debut, and then seeing Ammy transform and hearing The Sun Rises once more. Oh my gosh, I cried. I am still crying. Its so beautiful and I cant wait
no one could've expected tonight's absolute onslaught of bombshell after bombshell. from Elden Ring: Nightreight to Okami to Turok to The Witcher 4 to all the other absolutely shocking reveals tonight, this may go down as the greatest game awards of all time. Geoff really held nothing back tonight.
I was exactly the same, girl! Okami is just one of those games that touched me in a very particular way, and I have bought it for every console I’ve owned since I played it. I was so close to crying last night!
Same here. I am a trophy hunter, and usually, when you platinum a game, you don't want to play it anytime soon because you've seen every inch of it and/or it drove you nuts in the process. So sometimes, when you platinum a game, you can really get to the point where you start disliking the game because of all the work in it. I can tell you, Okami is the only game I've platinumed and would do it a hundred times over again ❤🔥 It's the only game that I've played 4 or 5 times on different consoles and that I would play another 4 or 5 times 😍
This also caused me to shed tears. Okami is my favorite game of all time so seeing this caused me to lose my composure. I went into an almost uncontrollable fit of sobbing because that game meant the world to me. It may jolly well have been the game that caused gaming to click for me and why I love video games.
The traditional Japanese instrumentation gave it away for me the moment I saw Ammy exit the forest, I realized exactly what I was seeing. The rising sun was a nice little bonus given that she's the sun goddess

I love this so much. it went from "this looks a lot like okami" to instant tears from one's loved childhood love that you never thought was coming back.. but it came back finally after 18 years. Im so happy for you and others that grew up with this game :) Just shows you how this really meant so much to people.

I think it's poetic as hell that back in the alpha, they tried to make the game look realistic and it just wasn't turning out right, and they accidentally stumbled upon the beautiful scroll painting style we all know and love... And now that they tried to remake it with the same style, they apparently couldn't get it to look right and made it look realistic and it's the most beautiful thing in the whole event. lol
i've never played okami before but i love hideki kamiya games like Bayonetta and the Wonderful 101. i keep hearing how much everyone adores okami so i'm actually so happy for you guys right now :)

I was 20 when this game came out. I had resigned to myself that I would never see a sequel for my favorite game of all time, and I had come to terms with that. Eighteen years later I and fellow fans get blindsided by this wonderful announcement, and I, a grown ass man, couldn't stop crying for like five minutes once I realized what was being revealed during the teaser trailer. We did it, everyone. We won.
I never seen anything Okami related apart from the HD remaster announcement trailer on Switch so many years ago When I saw the art style, I immediately recognized it as soon as the doggo came up. I couldn't quite remember the name tho I'm about to buy and finally play Okami HD on my SD OLED :D

Okami sequel has a serious chance to be the most breathtakingly visually gorgeous game of all time. And also has a chance to sincerely be one of the psychologically enthralling games of all time. Geeked AF. Okami HD is ALREADY the single greatest 3d Zelda style game, including all the Zelda titles. Only Wind Waker HD & Link Between Worlds come close, IMHO. I sincerely hope CAPCOM also does a remastered Switch2 Okami HD physical cartridge, which when docked, displays 4k/60FPS, thru Switch2’s DLSS3.1+ upscaling technology, with all the extras and artwork galleries and history/etc. & speaking of CAPCOM & Zelda…. I’d love to hear about some beautifully hand-drawn remakes, of top down Zelda titles: an OG 1986 Zelda remake (made by Nintendo R&D4, which had some future Capcom employees on the team IIRC), Oracle of Ages or Oracle of Seasons remakes (made by Flagship-Capcom), or Minish Cap remake (made by Flagship-Capcom) So excited for 2025-2026, seems like a gaming-golden-age / renaissance may be upon us. 🌹🐺🍁🐺🌹

I’d love to hear about some beautifully hand-drawn remakes, of top down Zelda titles: an OG 1986 Zelda remake (made by Nintendo R&D4, which had some future Capcom employees on the team IIRC), Oracle of Ages or Oracle of Seasons remakes (made by Flagship-Capcom), or Minish Cap remake (made by Flagship-Capcom)
So excited for 2025-2026, seems like a gaming-golden-age / renaissance may be upon us.
