Are you planning to build a music teaching studio in 2021? Let me know! What instrument/area will you be teaching?

I started teaching from my home studio a few months before Covid happened. It was hard the past couple years to get students. I got really good at teaching online. I teach piano and I have 6 in person students now. I really want to recruit many new students and eventually be able to find a new location to teach out of. Teaching from home is very inconvenient. Great video! Thank you for the pointers.

I realized that I needed to look into guidance for creating a post retirement teaching school- online and in person- your advice was right on target... THE ELLIESSONG... piano and more. Thanks even in 2023!!

Thank you for this! After watching, I'm zooming in and doing a bit of editing with my lesson policy...
    Also, mymusicstaff is amazing!

Oh I'm so glad! I am ALWAYS tougher so I have the "option" to make exceptions when needed, rather than being forced to make the exception every single time.

I love your emails, and I'd love to see a video all about setting up newsletters and how different platforms work. I want to really up my newsletter game but it seems so daunting!

That’s a great idea and something I will 100% make a video about!
And thanks for the email love! It’s fun writing to you all, and I really try to be helpful and a little entertaining all in one :)

Hey Jess! Any tips for creating a studio policy? Is it beneficial to make a super long and detailed one? What are some things you've found are super important and what isn't necessary to have in writing?

      Hey Mary!
I always found that the more detailed I could be, the more I was able to stand firm, or make exceptions as I chose to. I think the main thing is to think about what you absolutely need to have covered:
      - Fee structure and payment details
      - Attendance
      - Expectations for the student and the family
      - If you have additional, specific things, be sure to put them in there
I always start with my policies as black and white and formal as possible. Then, throughout the year, take notes on where to adjust them for the following year if needed. (My policies updated every year)

thank you for all of these tips! I'm debating using mymusicstaff...I currently use calendly with the PayPal integration. Great ideas on how to recruit students, I've had great success going into schools!
