I teach piano and I have 6 in person students now. I really want to recruit many new students and eventually be able to find a new location to teach out of. Teaching from home is very inconvenient. I realized that I needed to look into guidance for creating a post retirement teaching school- online and in person- your advice was right on target... THE ELLIESSONG... piano and more. Thanks even in 2023!!
Oh I'm so glad! I am ALWAYS tougher so I have the "option" to make exceptions when needed, rather than being forced to make the exception every single time.

Hey Jess! Any tips for creating a studio policy? Is it beneficial to make a super long and detailed one? What are some things you've found are super important and what isn't necessary to have in writing?
Hey Mary! I always found that the more detailed I could be, the more I was able to stand firm, or make exceptions as I chose to. I think the main thing is to think about what you absolutely need to have covered: - Fee structure and payment details - Attendance - Expectations for the student and the family - If you have additional, specific things, be sure to put them in there I always start with my policies as black and white and formal as possible. Then, throughout the year, take notes on where to adjust them for the following year if needed. (My policies updated every year)
