6:08 this is honestly a really interesting cultural difference. Selen is making a sarcastic joke about them killing a squad or two after the game started, but sarcastic humour isnt very common in Japanese culture so Kanae was taking selens statements as her trying to tell the truth or lying for no reason.
That or kanae had no idea what was going on.
Also, as replies state, sarcasm DOES exist in japam, I think its dry humour where its said with a straight expression. Like an inside joke. Kanae does that alot to troll usually with closer friends because they can tell hes joking.
Its a bit different with english, selen can make sarcasting jokes and even new english speakers can tell shes joking because of tone. Theres something similar in japanese too though. Like a person sarcastically agreeing with a statement by someone else who is in denial like the classic "ah yes, youre not pettan" bit.
Its definitely a partial language barrier too, since kanae isnt fluent enough in english, its much harder to get selens sarcasm.

Well actually there is sarcastic humor in Japan and it’s very common. It’s used in comedy skits all the time. But I think the language barrier was the biggest problem here lol.
@@RabbitHoleCh idk if I’d say it’s a cultural difference since there is comedy sarcasm in Japan too. But for sure was a language barrier. Kanae was really trying to figure out what she was actually saying in English, so by the time he understood her sentence, the sarcasm went out the window and wasn’t funny anymore. It’s like when a friend tells you a joke, but you don’t understand it the first time, but after a couple seconds you figure it out and by then it’s already too late lol.
@@soratatami9070 That and Japanese sarcasm tends to be more exaggerated, for lack of a better term. Like, you _really_ have to sell it in a way that isn't needed when speaking English.
@@thapoint09 Isn't Japanese sarcasm rooted in truth, while English sarcasm is rooted in lies? Selen's sarcasm for example, is obviously a lie, but the usual Japanese sarcasm I see is aboot stating the obvious, eg; "Don't make a stupid face after you know you said something stupid!" If that kind of rings any bells, idk.
