after 5-6 hours over 2 days, THANK YOU!!! i watched a handful of guides but i felt like yours had the best advice. i made it with 12 balloons, 0 birds, and about 34 seconds. it's SO RNG BASED it's crazy.. it just takes a LOT of patience and a crap ton of luck. it was a miracle i managed to dodge so many birds at the end. to those attempting this, don't give up!!
Watched your video... implemented everything... and literally got it on my 3rd try 😅 Got 3 balloons in phase one and gave up mentally,,, then in phase two it just seemed like magic. This saved me so much time! Thank you. ♥️

Not just that but the majority of the time you can't focus on one balloon without a bird deciding to come your way every chance they get. The lack of freedom of movement makes it feel like you're on some kind of track with an invisible barrier which is really stupid
I spent the last two days trying to do this and couldn't do it after getting close 1.05 a few times. But after watching your guide I got into on my second attempt so thank you. The run I got it on I didn't even think I would have beaten it giving my frustration from before. Don't quit and take breaks because doing it over and over when you are frustrated will make it worse, RNG!
Fantastic guide!! I have probably watched 2 or 3 hours today ALONE on guides for getting the sigil... I feel like I am almost a master! Now I just need to try it again. I have been playing FFT the last half a year or more, with only a couple FFX playings of Blitzball only... I'll be a bit rusty regardless of the amazing guides and FFX (FF in general) community! The direction advice on Phase 2 and 3 is really interesting. I always found that dodging right works best, but I might have not paid enough attention in Phase 3.
Yeah it's really interesting how quickly you're able to dodge birds right out of no where, just by knowing what direction to use. Good to see you doing well man!
I don't think I'd get the sigil if I hadn't been told which direction to run in Phase 2 and 3. I would have just done the same direction for each. This was great to watch for the help!
When I played through on the PS2 first time it took me about five and a half hours to complete it. Everything you say is correct this mainly takes patience and knowing for a fact that it will not be done in a short amount of time. My quickest is 15 minutes but that's only happened once, my other six playthroughs took at least 45 minutes

I tried for a couple hours last week and I got around 20 seconds every time the rng was bad and 9 seconds every time it was good. Im going to try for a couple hours again in a bit but honestly I'm thinking that once you reach an age where your reflexes are slowing down it's not possible anymore.

I did it thanks to your guide, it's the BEST one out there! What helped was to understand the dodging mechanics in different phases and that the birds will target the trainer and you alternatively. That helped me to not worry and collect balloons when the trainer was targeted. Got really lucky and had 15 balloons and 2 hits at 28 seconds, yet got the 0.00! THANK YOU!
Legit this video is a blessing you deserve to be knighted sir. On forums it’s just people saying “it’s not a fun or good mini game mostly luck based, get good at it and maybe in a few hours you’ll get it” or “I can do it Every time with my eyes closed using a guitar hero controller I’m a gift from god to all, square blessed us when making this mini game. Get good”
To this very day this is the only section of a game EVER to push me to the brink of my sanity. And what’s infuriating is it’s essential to beat for the ultimate weapon

JRPG Mickey - Walkthroughs & Guides well tbh, this is my first ever playthrough of the game. So there are many things I don’t fully know yet. Guides for superbosses, or a guide showing how to obtain each celestial weapon would prob help me, and many others out. That’s just a couple ideas I can think of. Haha! I’m currently on a binge of a bunch of the FF games, so actually once I beat FFX + the super bosses, I’m moving to FF12 then FF15 after as well, haha! Personally, there aren’t enough good/easy to follow guides for many of the final fantasy games, so any of the FF games might be a good idea to do guides/vids on 🙂
@@jacobtridef48 I would suggest playing ffx-2 man. It's kind of a really bad plot / story... But it's pretty unanimous in how FUN the game is. So if X-2’s gameplay is good enough, it can def make up for bad/mediocre storytelling. Gotta love some fun gameplay, regardless 😁 haha! I’ll def try X-2 before I move to 12 then. Cuz X-2 came with my X Copy anyway. But np man. Ty for the game suggestion, I’ll def give it a go after X is complete.

I wouldn't say dodging 200 lightning bolts was "hard" per say. Just a test of endurance. The timing for pressing X was easy enough. My issue was finding a spot where the thunderbolt strike rate was consistent. After that, I wound up doing 50 dodge increments, taking breaks in between, and got it after like 20 minutes.
I spent about 1 1/2 hours last night trying this. During lunch on my work setup(steam deck with ps5 controller, earbuds, and nreal glasses. Cannot recommend enough. I crack my windows and play for an hour a day where the misses can’t get mad at me) I booted it up to go to Remiem for the aeon fights. I decide to try the race a couple of times. I get it first try. I shit you not. It was super close but I had a perfect start, had a near perfect 2nd part, and did well on the 3rd part. I think it was something like 3 birds 15 balloons. I don’t think I could have cut it closer.

update: woke up, about 30 minutes of racing in, I got it! 35.3, 15 Balloons! 1 Bird, -6.7!, I was so tilted yesterday after going at it for hours! Great advice, breaking it down into phases really helped conceptualize what I had to do in each section to get a good time.
THKS SO MUCH, after only 3 hours I did 35/36 seconds with 12 balloons and 0 bird :D (I didn't even have a good rng to begin with but the trainer was doing shit at the start and let me take the balloons x') )
I am attempting this and I have to say that it’s not a hard mini game at all, just terrible controls. All around the game has terrible controls, but it only really becomes apparent when precision becomes necessary and on the back of a chocobo it feels like a shopping cart with one jank wheel.

I would rather do the lighting dodge 1000 times in a row using the crater trick rather than the 0.0 chocobo race. I am just so bad at the race but so good at lighting dodge at the same time.
I can't consistently get more than 8 balloons total, nor can I consistently dodge the birds. My typical run is 6 balloons and 4 birds, and I've been at this for 5 hours now.
That absolutely would help if ya have that ability! I was playing the HD ps4 version, but by all means, whatever you want to do to make it easier for ya!
For me the absolute worst part about this challenge was when I finally hit 0 seconds I didn't even get the Sun Sigil. Why? Because it turned out I had already completed the challenge and received it but after hundreds of attempts, playing day to night my brain was mush so I never registered that I already completed it and wasted so much time all for nothing...
Your final run had 3 balloons in phase 1 but then you got 6-7 in phase 2 lol. Trainer was hit twice at the start and a total of 8 times. So you already had 9-10 balloons approaching phase 3 with the trainer having no hope whatsoever of interfering Its what we call good RNG
managed to get to 0:00:9 after watching this video... now stuck again, as if the game realized I found a good method and now is going against it. -_- Edit: Noticing how I can't keep going further like the AI is learning, I restarted from my last checkpoint and finally managed to get 0:00:00 after three tries. So thank you so much, yours really is the most helpfull guide.... still screw this brokken ass minigame. I feel like square forgot the difference between challenging and "have no life" Not sure why they even made this game the way it is: Like at least give free movement of the cocobo, insert a dodge button or at least give an option to go into a menu and restart the game instantly, when you realize you can't win anymore, instead of having to go the whole thing to the end. Actually a lot of the minigames in this game are just horrible and again, No idea how none of them where fixed during the remasters.
I hate this mini game, I got stun locked on the finish and had to turn off the console. Gave up last night, but think I've put 3 or 4 hrs into trying this
I have a savegame wich is 2 years old without knowing it. I was so glad, that I dont have to play the whole game again and collect all the stuff again. With a smile a startet the savegame and now I see where I was and what will I say? I dont smile any longer.
Ok so I listened to this 3 times thru on spotty connection and after like 50ish attempts I absentmindedly got -4 seconds what in the absolute fuck Thank you man
Hate to be that guy, but once you learn how to get past the first section with RNG it’s a breeze. You just have to be okay with resetting over and over until u get the right start. Also after u make the hard right in phase 1, bounce off the invisible wall to take the second turn.
It is C.O.M.P.L.E.T.E.L.Y RNG based. 0% skill Why ? Because balloons change spots every race randomly, birds won't let you aim et them, and the chocobo handling is a freaking nightmare. That's the kind of trial you'll only succeed once then fail a thousand time again before you actually manage to succeed again. That's how badly designed this total shit is.
When he said that first part was mostly RNG and not your fault, I found myself tearing up in frustration

Being easier to dodge to the left and right is a great tip, of only that didn't make me miss every single balloon on the course

yeah this is impossible lmao the chocobbo ALWAYS runs towards the birds and AWAY from the ballons. impossible to beat

I am attempting this and I have to say that it’s not a hard mini game at all, just terrible controls. All around the game has terrible controls, but it only really becomes apparent when precision becomes necessary and on the back of a chocobo it feels like a shopping cart with one jank wheel.

I would rather do the lighting dodge 1000 times in a row using the crater trick rather than the 0.0 chocobo race. I am just so bad at the race but so good at lighting dodge at the same time.

I can't consistently get more than 8 balloons total, nor can I consistently dodge the birds. My typical run is 6 balloons and 4 birds, and I've been at this for 5 hours now.

I do kind of wish the controls used the normal movement controls. It just feels off using the left and right buttons to course correct the chocobo.
dude did it help if I put on 0.5x speed on the emulator? kinda seems easier at lower speed

For me the absolute worst part about this challenge was when I finally hit 0 seconds I didn't even get the Sun Sigil. Why? Because it turned out I had already completed the challenge and received it but after hundreds of attempts, playing day to night my brain was mush so I never registered that I already completed it and wasted so much time all for nothing...

Your final run had 3 balloons in phase 1 but then you got 6-7 in phase 2 lol. Trainer was hit twice at the start and a total of 8 times. So you already had 9-10 balloons approaching phase 3 with the trainer having no hope whatsoever of interfering

managed to get to 0:00:9 after watching this video... now stuck again, as if the game realized I found a good method and now is going against it. -_-
Edit: Noticing how I can't keep going further like the AI is learning, I restarted from my last checkpoint and finally managed to get 0:00:00 after three tries. So thank you so much, yours really is the most helpfull guide.... still screw this brokken ass minigame. I feel like square forgot the difference between challenging and "have no life"
Not sure why they even made this game the way it is: Like at least give free movement of the cocobo, insert a dodge button or at least give an option to go into a menu and restart the game instantly, when you realize you can't win anymore, instead of having to go the whole thing to the end.
Actually a lot of the minigames in this game are just horrible and again, No idea how none of them where fixed during the remasters.

I hate this mini game, I got stun locked on the finish and had to turn off the console. Gave up last night, but think I've put 3 or 4 hrs into trying this
I have a savegame wich is 2 years old without knowing it. I was so glad, that I dont have to play the whole game again and collect all the stuff again. With a smile a startet the savegame and now I see where I was and what will I say? I dont smile any longer.
Ok so I listened to this 3 times thru on spotty connection and after like 50ish attempts I absentmindedly got -4 seconds what in the absolute fuck

Hate to be that guy, but once you learn how to get past the first section with RNG it’s a breeze. You just have to be okay with resetting over and over until u get the right start. Also after u make the hard right in phase 1, bounce off the invisible wall to take the second turn.

Because balloons change spots every race randomly, birds won't let you aim et them, and the chocobo handling is a freaking nightmare.
That's the kind of trial you'll only succeed once then fail a thousand time again before you actually manage to succeed again.
That's how badly designed this total shit is.
What's funny is how when you use it normally it controls fine but then you race and you lose control of it
