Amazing review bro! This series was overall really good, except for killing off chlo. However, characters are different and unique, as well as the teachers. Definitely gonna tune in as soon as they drop a new series!

My favourite series was 1 and 2 because the stories felt more edgy. And the brilliant acting. Series 3 and 4 was Also good 5 was passable season 6 was a turd series 7 was better especially Micheal burn when he took over and the gang war. But when they moved to Scotland that's when it turned into a crock of rubbish. But I prefer the New one in Manchester. And I like Kim Campbell how she was headteacher. Ironically jack rimmer was going to promote her to deputy head if she stayed in series 3 lol after Andrew T left after series 2.

Killing Chlo in the first ep was a mistake and i really question why Josh and Mika weren't at her funeral

In all honesty, the new season is terrible and an honest disappointment to the franchise - I couldn't even get through it after 2 episodes (and that was after barely getting through the first episode) - it was a very stupid move to bring back a couple like Dante and Chlo, only to kill her off but more importantly, there's no draw to the characters at all , the presence of politics and social issues is extremely hyperbolised that it takes away from knowing the characters in a way that is raw, authentic and for some, realistic (ironically, the only bearable character that still had some sense of 'waterloo road hue' was Danny but I didn't like how the producers are trying to create some sort of 'romantic tension' between Danny and his childhood friend whose name I've forgotten, it's so forced and not everything has to be a socially progressive love story) . The teachers too, we're not expecting more Tom Clarksons or Grantly Budgens, but surely there could be more curiosity surrounding the teachers in the way that humanises them and makes them like somewhat likeable. It's very common that we don't see teachers in a 360 degree lens and that's something waterloo road did well but it seems so distant in the new one, because the teachers are too black or white in character and it doesn't fit the dynamic of the school.

I agree in terms of chlo dying first episode and the teachers we don’t see them the same way we used to, we should get more insight on them. One thing I didn’t do when watching this new Waterloo Road was expect it to be like the first one. We are in 2023 now a lot has changed. All your points are valid though tbh they have turned it more into a drama rather than a series as it was previously.
