The fall of the Moors in Spain actually lead to the transatlantic slave trade. Mali fell after Mansu Musa and slavery was rolling not longer after courtesy of the Portuguese.

@@brisk601 Moors were a mix of Africans and Arabs. Muslim slave trade started from Arabs going to Africa spreading there doctrine centuries before they ever made it to Europe. Most North Africans are Arabs mixed with Africans. Why do you think they look so different from those in Mali and west coast of Africa. Even south of Egypt the Sudanese look nothing like the Egyptians. Dna doesn’t determine migration. A Dna test in the Americas will show foreign blood not the natives.

Once it is understood that the arabs of today are not the original inhabitants of northern Africa (Egypt,Libya, Morocco,Algeria) then we will not have these conversations. It will be common knowledge. Thank you for exploring and teaching on the greatness and history of Africa. Blessings and B1.

The muslim rule in Iberian peninsula is a well documented historical event. They were mainly the muslims of North Africa and Arabs. Populations in west Africa converted to Islam much later era and they had their great Muslim empires in that region, similar to African Muslims in East Africa.
It's really sad and confusing that black Diaspora, mainly, in America with Afrocentric ideology, claiming any major civilisations like the Pharaohs of Egypt, Punt, Kush, and the Moors of Spain!
All parts of Africa have their share of ancient civilisations and don't need to claim other civilisations or denying the africanness of other Africans. Our dilemma as Africas not in the past but the challenges that we facing in every aspect, which made us underdeveloped & poor.

@brisk601 The term moor originally described black people and comes come the Greek word Mauros. The word moor now describes ANY Arab whether black or white lol. The indigenous inhabitants looked no different than the ones in southern Africa. Over time due to lighter skinned people migrating to and also conquering northern Africa is why it looks the way it does now.

    Black History:
Yesterday's Black STEM pioneers opened the gate. But HBCUs failed to pass the baton and create a research ecosystem for excellence in Black Scholarship. That space was co-opted by the field of Afrocentrism, which churned out disinformation ops, like Dane Calloway. Over 100 HBCUs today, yet we have more graduates of Oswald Bates U. Whilst too many HBCUs have made the lists of schools with poor ROI. Okay, it's time to reverse engineer. To create an academic consortium with Africa & the Caribbean, for satellite campuses. To Introduce Coding in prisons, online STEM prep to nontraditional students, re-entry, after-school, and programs run by Black organizations. Then perhaps Black parents will recommit to making sure that our children support HBCUs for undergraduate studies. And HBCUs will commit to reducing their drop out rates.

The MOORS are from North Africa. Their skin complexion was dark as one would expect. I am fair skinned where as my uncle's melenine is as dark as African. Just as it is reductive to think that Moors were black African so is to think they were of Arabs. Race at this time did not play any role unlike later 1800. Moors had both Afro and north African and arabic blood. The muslim general who took control of Ezypt from Byzentanine was black in colour and byzentine refused to speak to him because of his skin tone. This production grossly miss chacterises history.

Moors were never Berbers and are always in North Africa. The name Berber became associated with the peoples of North Africa solely because of the "Vandals"- who were a Germanic people from Europe, (Poland) who captured North Africa from the Romans in the mid-4th century. - Only Celtic and Germanic of peoples of Europe were called "Barbarians" by the Romans. The Vandals also sacked and plundered Rome. Hence the word "Vandalized". The Vandals "Barbarians" ruled North Africa for over 100 years and then the Roman Byzantine, Emperor Justinus and his General, Belisarius in the 5th century wanted to recapture North African and "expel the Barbarians", meaning the only Vandals from Carthage, North Africa. Before the Vandal conquest, Rome ruled North Africa for over 500 years and never once referred to the original inhabitance, like the Carthaginians, Moors & Numidians of North Africa as Berbers and or Barbarians. In fact the Moors and Vandals fought several wars. The Moors and Romans/Byzantines also fought many wars/rebellions. Now the name, "Berber" became synonymous with every peoples of North Africa, because of Christian Europe, mainly Spain, after the Arab conquest of Romanized Egypt & all of North Africa in the 6th century and then invasion/conquest of of Spain in 711 AD. The "Berber" name became entrenched during the Barbary Piracy era (1500-1820s?), when Muslim pirates from North Africa raided Europe and enslaved millions of Europeans.

Some 2,500 years ago, the Greeks worked in the Moor's ships.
Greeks learned navigation from the Moors.
Around the time, 5th century CE, the English were moving to Britain, the land was occupied by black skinned Italians.
Even Julius Caesar and his ministers were black as with the Egyptian Pharaohs.
The word "Moor" is a Tamil word meaning "a land of unproductiveness due to inadequate monsoon and lack of maintenance".
Since the places the Moors have been living are desert, this became the name of these people.
But since Moors were good sea navigators. they didn't care where they lived.
These people including the Berbers, Bantu, Tunisian, Mauritanian, Cameroonian, Egyptian, Sudanian & Eritreans are all came from South Asia, some 9.300 years ago.
Mauritania not came from blackness of Moors, since blackness was associated by the Greeks at much later time.
It came from a character from Ramayana called "Hanuman". This name came in movie 'Wakanda'.
Other name for Hanuman is Maruthi hence Mauritania came from this name.
Moors had the same skill of those Sumerian and Egyptians but they chose sea instead of land.

    White Moors
A term used by Europeans to describe Muslims of any complexion other than Black. The term was used despite the fact that the physical appearance of people in North Africa is similar to that of southern Europe.

Moors, N-words, Granate, Granada, Kanaks, are all the SAME words in different indo-languages.👍
Granada Spain literally means Maroon Spain or Negro Spain, or Black Spain....

@daniele.3361 Yes that is what it means and I know that word in several languages:
Griffe, Granada, Granate, Kanaka, Canada, Maroon, Chestnut Brown, Donkelrod, Dark Red, Noir, Ula ula elé elé, Negro, Black, Mélange, Melan, Orang Hitam, Habsji, Mor, Maur, Mohr, ,,,
That is what the word means

@daniele.3361 Spain / Portugal was settled by mixing North Afrikan Black Dutch "Orang Belanda" with Philippines Aeta "Zamboangan".
Hence the word Zambos or Sambos.
      In Portugiesisch you'd say Zambaigo.

@@walterzell2721 You have a very big question that is very simple yet lengthy to answer.
Europeans did not first visit the continent of Afrika 400 years ago.
They literally came from Afrika which was stated by Hitler several times and it was basic European text book studies for young kids and it's scattered throughout the Holy Bible "Health Books".
Afrika was First settled by Australs whose ethnicity to this day is Man.
Once they reached Afrika they took on the name Ethiopes.
During the Leukoderma pandemic their infected offspring were called Leukoethiopes.
Ethiopes and Leucaethiopes migrated and settled Europe which at the time was already inhabited by Australs.

      Barbarians an uncivilized people.
Berber was the children of Moor and Barbarians. Berber ( Barbarians) are not organic to Northern Africa. They were brought as slave taken to Northern Africa and sold to the Ottoman Turks.
Europeans sold their own people into slavery, they sold their own women into slavery, they knew that the .oops were fond of European women 🤔
