Not to be a pain, but some of us will only use the generator for a full power outage. Honda reliability is outstanding, but most of us in the southeast will only be running a side by side refrigerator, maybe recharging a power station or two and a few fans until the power comes back...... Videos of scenarios like these would be nice.
Honda makes great generators, and performance has never been an issue, hondas issue is price, has always been price...For what this generators prices out at, I can buy 4 Pulsar dual fuel 4000W/3700W(peak/running, gas, less on LP) generators, and they may not last as long at the honda in overall life span, but I can have 4 of them, and run 2 in parallel for some real generating performance... I've been running the forementioned Pulsar for about 3 months now(on the road, switching between 2 weeks of boondocking(gotta empty tanks and take on fresh water) with a break at full amenity campgrounds, back to boondocking), mind you not 24/7, but often enough that I have a cpl hundred hrs on it, and it's performed flawlessly, whether on gas(I run mine on trufuel), or on LP...
And this is exactly that reason that I think they are missing so many sales. Trying to sell the name now instead of the product. Honda makes good stuff but it’s not worth gold and when it. Fails it’s not cheap to fix. And yes they fail
Great video Johnny👍 And great data to share!! As for me, to much buck for the bang for the Honda lol I can’t help but wonder if one of your less expensive 3500’s will pass the same test🤔 Hope you have time soon to do another double ac test!! 👊🏻
Slick. The setup that is. Worth it? Depends on the buyer and if they are willing to pay for the reputation of reliability and durability. It's the old "pay once, cry once" adage. It does look pretty compact though so it does have some advantage over competing units including other Honda units. Can you test the peak output and how long it will run at peak? For the classic 2200i line, that was always supposed to be an advantage over other units that had a peak of only a second versus 30 seconds and more for the 2000/2200.
It’s still a good idea to, and to teach others because many still think they can just fire the Gen up in eco and let it run under any loads. Its cool that some gens can do it, and several can, you will just burn them or your ac up quicker
my honda eu2200 does the same thing if a heavy cable or adapter is plugged in it will vibrate out of the plug in 20/30 mins unless you bend the prongs in slightly
I can but I have used the Ecoflow smart generator mostly but now with the power kit I will have to step to something larger which I have mainly been using propane… I got larger on board tanks and so no extra fuel unless I have a diesel heater
Buying a generator to run it at its maximum is crazy and certainly not worth the money Honda asks for those 3200's. Just buy two 2200I's and parallel them problem solved with a 1000 more running watts and about the same money in the end.
The two Honda 2200's are quite a bit less expensive and the extra 1000 watts on top. The regular one is 1100 bucks and the the companion i think is 1300. I think it's really all about politics and a CA carb certification not about us.
Definitely political and I think Honda gave them the finger and said screw your sticker and money. It’s all money. When you look at the items for sale in ca and out Honda has everything needed to be sold here except giving them money for CARB cert. Stupid, and yea two 2200s is nice except having two unit. It’s just the price is high. I think they are missing major amounts of sales being over priced. Sell a few at a large margin or sell a ton at a little bit less of a margin.
@@johnnysweekends Agreed, if I didn't need more then 3600 running watts, to run everything I have I certainly would have went this way, ended up going with the EU7000is which can also be used for home back up.
I think it comes down to the "value" of having a gen that is going to fire up and last a long time. For a lot of people, that may *not* be worth it anymore either clones getting so good. (Added not which changes the context but was the original thought.)
I’ll admit the off brands keep coming back with more positive info. Many getting into the thousands of hours and if you get 50% of a Honda but can buy 3 units and they are new verses putting new parts into a old Honda, you may come out ahead. Although this is a nice unit.
@JOHNNY'S WEEKENDS True. With the cost being so low on clones, they can become disposable rather than repairable to some too. Not a great trend, but understandable. I wonder if Honda will cede consumer sales in favor commercial such as construction crews willing to pay since any down time means $.
That’s is the trend im seeing. No one wants to take a generator to a shop and wait for parts, which no just stocks all parts. So now they will just sell a Honda cheap and go buy another at Home Depot, harbor freight and more. Exactly down time is not worth waiting for a unit to be fixed that is so cheap to replace. I like Honda but the prices are just crazy now. Especially the size and output.
I read that this video is not sponsored - I assume that this means you paid for all this stuff with your own money like anyone else... if this is true I would like to show my appreciation. I have looked at your videos of this unit, and the one video you discuss whether or not it is worth the money - its pretty hard to believe most reviews on RUclips because a lot of the tool people get their stuff for free. The answer to whether or not something is worth the money varies greatly depending on how much a person actually pays - and if the person doing the review didnt pay anything, gets a discount, or doesnt actually use their equipment in the real world like you have, then their opinion doesnt mean jack to the people seeking guidance from them, yet people give them views all day long. There are too many videos of two guys standing behind a bench waving around some new tool gifted to them, but the average guy can't afford, saying junk like "yeah you need this" and making other nonsensical observations. I appreciate when someone actually puts in the effort
Thank you, and yes I paid for everything you see in the video. All my Hondas are paid for by me, my tools except the sound meter my trailer my home lol and more. Now sure I have sponsored videos as well where people send me stuff if I want to test it. If it works and seems like an items that is worth the price and performs then it makes it on the channel. Some stuff doesn’t. But even when sponsored they don’t buy what say. I tell people what an item does and what it doesn’t do. Then it’s up to them if they wanna buy it unless it’s really bad then I’ll let them know or again it doesn’t make it on the channel. Now this Honda, it performs great! Not as quiet as I was hoping Bigger then I think it needs to be and heavier. Price is absurd Warranty will not be honored unless you have a dealer or certified shop inspect timing belt every 250 hrs It’s a nice unit… but it’s it worth your hard earned $2800 or so dollars..? I don’t think so. Thanks for stopping by 😀👍🏼👊🏼

Another very informative video. Thanks again!
Thank you 👍🏼😀
These generators should use their running watts as a model name/number, rather than a temporary surge rating.
Correct
Another great video. Keep it up! 🤠👍🇺🇸
Thanks Jeff 👍🏼😀
Great video! The new Honda EU3200i sure is an expensive unit, but I'm increasingly thinking it's worth it.
It really is!
Not to be a pain, but some of us will only use the generator for a full power outage. This generator Looks promising from many perspectives
The price tag is Understandable

More tests coming 👍🏼
Great presentation, can you do a scope measurement to show the sinus wave under load?
Thank you, regards from Hannover/Germany.
I have on the Hondas and they have minimal distortion like 3% or less.
Good common sense test
Thank you 👍🏼😀

I will be later on a full altitude test under higher temps as well. 👍🏼
Why would you switch off eco mode if your ac has a soft start? Good video as usual.
Yea with the adapter I had in the video its upside down. So the other pigtail would be much better
Does the generator charge your ecoflow
battery and then the eco gives the 120v to the trailer?
I can but I have used the Ecoflow smart generator mostly but now with the power kit I will have to step to something larger which I have mainly been using propane… I got larger on board tanks and so no extra fuel unless I have a diesel heater
How many hours can it last if I use an Ac with btu 7000- 14000 ? If any one know
All depends on outside temp and altitude. That’s a big spread so could be 3 hrs or 7. The Honda has a small tank.
whats the no load idle speed
3500 rpm approximately
I'm just wondering what the noise level would be compared to the 2200i
It’s louder than the 2200i. I did a sound comparison in my first video with both
@johnnysweekends thanks. I guess I can always build one of those sound boxes. I just don't want to upset my neighbors.
PRICE PRICE PRICE, i just can't get over it. I'll gladly pay half of what they are right now. But untill then, I'll use my normal genie.
good generator but the price is unreasonable for what it offers
Agree….
Is it California legal?
No Jason not for sale in CA. You can have it in CA but they won’t sell it here

Ahh the big one !
Far too expensive. Only 2600 w running capacity is not enough for the price.

Are you trying to break your generator?
I need clarification on this statement.
Honda EU 3200I = $2,599
Propane Adapter=$279
Total: $2,779
Genmax 3500 iAED= $899 (Amazon)
Amazon 4 year warranty= $119.99
Total:$1,018.99
I think you meant $2599 👍🏼
Tank is too small. Id rather have the old Honda 3000 watt that can run for 15-20 hours.
1.5 could have been easy..🤷🏼♂️
