To ensure that the center of the fries are fully cooked before the outsides get too brown. The way to achieve this is to cook the fries twice using a particular type of potato and oil.
Also you need soak the fries in water for atleast an hour.
Frying your fries two times might sound like a lot of work. However, if you want them light and crispy, that's what you have to do. Otherwise, they'll either be crispy but undercooked in the middle or just plain greasy and limp.

i love dates sooo much, i always have to stop myself from eating the entire package! it's a little too sweet, so i always drink it with a hot tea (with no added sugar!), the way i like it the most. i actually didn't care for dates before i went vegan. then one day i realized i have to try eating it again, because i've kind of forgotten what it tasted like, and second time i was like WHY HAVE I BEEN MISSING THIS MY WHOLE LIFE???

To answer your question, I have recently eaten potatoes. I usually buy a 5 or 10 pound bag when I go grocery shopping, and I'll eat them o'brien with soyrizo and, if I'm feeling extra fancy, I'll throw in a tortilla to make a burrito or taco. I recommend trying soyrizo from Trader Joes.
To speed up the fry process, microwave your potato until tender, cut it up, season to taste, then pop it in the oven on broil for like 5-10 minutes until crispy. Turning halfway if you'd like. :) so yummy even non-vegans will love em :)

The Vegan sass in this video brings me to life and has saved me from the nightmare I've become thank you.
Just a tip for making fries even better is to cut up the potatoes then put them in a bowl with olive oil and all your seasoning.Mix it all together so all the potatoes are evenly covered then put them on a tray and cook.
watching people peel things is weirdly satisfying? like i enjoyed it more than i'd like to admit. very unlike when i'm peeling things myself...because i cut myself more than the thing i'm peeling.

I have 2 easy breakfast ideas for you that you might enjoy based on what you tasted 😊 chia pudding: add chia seeds to that soy milk of yours, put both together in mug/jar, leave overnight in your fridge, and when breakfast time rolls around it will have magically turned to pudding 😊
Date smoothie: put water and dates in a blender, blend, enjoy! (Amount of water and dates depends on your preference in consistency)
Being a lazy person, those are 2 of my favorite breakfast ideas I can make fast, and I thought you might relate 😜
Better and better!!! The first time I tried chia seeds was really weird and I was really grossed out but they're awesome!! Also, dates are my favorite!! So many recipes with dates and you can add them to veggie couscous !

Love chia seeds! I drink Mama Chia! They have them here in Canada. I got hooked on using chia seeds when I read that they were used by the Aztecs. Apparently Aztec runners would drink the chia seeds because the chia seeds absorb like ten times the water so the runners wouldn't become dehydrated as fast. Who knew, right?! Overnight chia oatmeal. Super awesome.

Your oven timer went off and I thought it was my oven timer. Then I realized I hadn't set my oven timer. But I did almost get up and see what I was "cooking."
just a tip with chunky fries and wedges, try chopping them, and then microwaving them in some water for about 5-7 mins (for one potato depending on size) and then put them on the tray to bake etc. It makes them super fluffy on the inside and will also mean they take less time cooking in the oven because you have started the process in the microwave. just a tip from a lazy person who likes food faster haha

Maybe if you try lightly coating of olive oil on the potato slices then put the seasoning on it so it sticks to it better.

You should try the good bean chickpea snacks in coconut lime curry. They're a little spicy and soooooooo good! They usual have them at target or TJ max
If you put peanut butter on a date it's 10% better! You've got to try it! Also, I'm not sure if you have this in CA, but the granola brand "Love Crunch" has a lot of vegan options and I love all of them!

I really need some fast food, like there's just something so appealing about going to Wendys or Mcdonalds and getting a meal right now.
I'm at the point in the video where you ask if we have eaten potatoes lately, yes I have. My grandpa makes taters by choppin' em up kinda like you do, covering them in garlic salt and seasoning salt, and then fryin' them up in hot oil. They are great and go well with biscuits and gravy.

You should try fresh dates too. They're really good :) Also, there is a cafe in Berkeley and Santa Cruz called The Saturn Cafe. It's like retro diner themed and like half the menu is completely vegan. It's amazing!
I always take a book into the kitchen (who am I kidding, I take a book with me everywhere) so that I can kill time while waiting for food to cook.
So I live in the Netherlands and these episodes air at night for me. I love it so much and it is a great way to start my mornings (ofc I have to get coffee first haha) Thank you Kat for making these!! (Also, because of you I am going to eat vegan for at least this month and try it out and let's see how I feel afterwords :))

I LOVE DATES!!!!!! My breakfast every morning is a bowl of granola with almond milk and i chop up 2 dates and put it in the granola. I also put hazelnuts into my bowl of granola and it is delicious!!!!! Yo should definitely try it!
