Cooper Bessemer was originally based here in my hometown Mount Vernon Ohio, they made all kinds of engines over a long period of time, from steam engines to diesel locomotive engines to gas turbines. My grandfather worked there for 40 yrs as a machinist and my great uncle was an engineer there, he now serves as a Museum Curator here in Mt. Vernon where we have several Cooper engines on display.
Beautiful engine! I know this is an old video but it's fascinating to see. I am an antique refrigeration guy so knowing this came from an ice plant is really amazing!
Nice video! Really like that you showed all the problems with inadequate air to start, how you solved the problems with the magneto, and with the final result being success. I was watching the tires coming close to tipping over the propane tank. I keep watching for an engine like this to buy.
Since you have a gas bottle alongside, I would guess it originally ran on town/coal gas, like the Otto-Crossley gas engine in our family textile mill (Installed 1902). What gas do you run it on now?

Super cool I didn’t know that, I’m in Columbus so it’s not far away.

I love it . this is the stuff you should be posting . Heck with throw away junk cars.
Good looking engine!! I have what I think is a 80hp similar to this one. Neat to see that others exist
This is some juicy oldschool JRGo
Built so redundantly , very impressive
"this is a 1910 Cooper Bessemer and today, we're gonna look at all of it's quirks and features"
Need to get daddy Doug in here 😂

Some babes. Alriiight
Cooper Bessemer didn’t join till 1929, this engine is later than that. This is a 30’s if 40’s engine.
So it’s like a giant refrigerator engine?
Just a big general purpose 2 stroke engine. This one was running the refrigeration system at the ice plant, probably with a belt drive. ❄️❄️❄️
Makes sense
These were also commonly used to power early saw mills
I'd have used 4 of those spark plugs for a cylinder that size.
Why night shame full what is day
