My absolute favorite amp. It crapped out on me a couple weeks ago and I tried a new line 6 amp (catalyst) and it sounded soo horrible compared to this bad boy that I returned it for store credit and got tubes to try to fix it. Didn’t work. Grown soo fond of this amps sound and ease of use that I just had to end up ordering the exact same one and got it today. This amp is absolutely a hidden gem and is the one I used in all my videos on my channel. Will be getting a 4x12 cabinet and swapping out the 4 speakers for more Celestion vintage 30 speakers to match the amps vintage 30.
I gigged with one for a while, great amp. It’s definitely an amp I regret selling in search of a “real tube amp.” But I just used it as a clean pedal platform.
I actually prefer plugging in the front of the amp instead of going direct. I think it sounds warmer. In the studio they like going through the back for obvious reasons, but my next trip to the studio, im going to ask tgem to muc the speaker.
Honestly, I recommend finding the FX foot switch to go with this. This amp has some pretty killer FX built in along with a built in noise gate that really makes your distorted tones sound great when you use the amps distortion. And its a full on pedal board with 4 channels you can program however you want, and a volume/wah pedal. I don’t even bother using anything else with this amp. Its also got different banks to switch between, and have a bunch of different programming options for your channels to just switch between with ease.
I ended up getting it for only $80😂 at the pawn shop. And after I got it home I noticed The drive potentiometer doesn't do anything but everything else still works I picked up a new pot for $4 at the local guitar shop and probably end up putting it in eventually and you're right you can bypass the preamp anyway and just straight up use the tube section and it works great not only that it came with a vintage 30 which on its own is like $169 so I basically got tube amp for dirt cheap and a quality celestion speaker for free😊
Been using SV's as a tube powered power amp for years. Blows away any FRFR for modelers and they can be had cheap! Right now I use the 100 watt SV head which is called the HD100. It slays!
'Use the input on the back to skip all the cold digital effects and go directly to the tube amp for that nice warm sound. And if you like some variety, you can simply use your own pedal board (you know, the one with the digital phaser, digital delay and digital reverb, as well as some nice solid state distortions' 😂
Yeah, if you have a multi effects digital board… the gt100 has a way better processor than any digital effects built into this amp. Best would be analog pedals but, no one wants to haul that shit around
you need to turn the master volume all the way down, then go through every preset and set the channel volume and save them all low level. Only way to do it really. The last owner saved the presets with high channel volume
everytime i plug my guitar into the front and try to use the features in the front. It only comes out as a clean tone. metal crunch and insane don’t work. What’s wrong with the amp?
Probably the selector switch. But everything is a PCB. DO NOT mess around in this amp if you don’t know electronics. The capacitors are HIGH VOLTAGE!!! DANGEROUS!!!
So you are saying you are undoing what line 6 did and avoiding their effects to use others? Why would anyone do that? Abd you dont even show what your doing! Whats your point?
A lot of people do it ….. mainly because those line 6 effects built in the amp are from 2008 and are quite digital sounding. Once you plug into the tube power amp section, it’s analog

If you are looking for a “real” tube amp you’re going to sink a lot of money digging through options that are

I only just discovered it but I’m glad I did. Let’s keep it between us.

How do you do this? I have one .
Should I soend the money and time to re-tube and install a cooling fan and a new master volume? Or just use it as a nice 212 cab?
I have been considering doing this with my Neural DSP stuff on my laptop as a preamp
The Spyder valve MH100 sounds awesome as a power amp..!! been using it with a FM9 in front and it's insane..an not heavy stuff by the way..
they should never discontinued it a friend of to this amp. even the presets are good you got dial it in.
Get the mkii version instead, if you can
Just picked this model up and noticed the volume difference between channels as you switch between them is crazy, am i doing something wrong?
you need to turn the master volume all the way down, then go through every preset and set the channel volume and save them all low level. Only way to do it really. The last owner saved the presets with high channel volume
basically save each preset to a lower volume
Its tricky to do though, you need to have your hand on the channel volume and once you switch presets hurry up and turn it down....
$90 at my local pawn shop. I'm going to give it a try.
Whats yhe difference between pre amp out and power amp in?
I would say plug helix into the power amp in
