    Think how fast that V8 would be if it were a V10. The point is no matter how fast your ride is, there’s always something faster.
    Don’t get caught up in the bs. Buy the car you like and then have a great time driving it.
    I bought a V6 Challenger SXT a month ago and believe me, every time I lift my garage door and see that big beautiful destroyer gray machine looking at me like it’s pissed off that I kept it locked up all night, I get a big ass smile on my face and then I go for a damn fun drive.

    The V6 is extremely underrated.
    Yes it's underwhelming on paper but that Pentastar and ZF8 speed works so well together that it surprised people. We judge things too often without giving it a fair shot. I'm so glad you're doing videos like this. In the end it's the experience that counts. Great job!

    Sport Mode is basically like Track Mode. It holds the gears on purpose as if you are using a manual transmission and want to accelerate hard through every corner. I think it's kind of gimmicky to be honest and I much prefer to use manual mode.
    Also surprisingly the V6 is not that much slower than the basic R/T model. Unless they updated the Horsepower since 2015? It used to be around 375HP. With a new chip, exhaust and 93 Octane Tune, the V6 will give the stock R/T a run for it's money. And an aggressively supercharged SXT can even challenge a scat pack. Purists don't like that the 3.6 V6 has more of an import sound, than a muscle car sound. But I think it sounds a bit like an Italian sports car with a good exhaust. That's not a bad thing to me. Just not what muscle car guys expect a Challenger to sound like.

    • @Theedd9991
      @Theedd9991 5 лет назад +3

      Bob Jones give an rt with warranty a run for its money in your new car that you just through the warranty out on, a fbo v6 won’t even reach the same power as an RT, you need to waste money on a supercharger to compete with with a 392 but you lose warranty and reliability that a 392 has not to mention the 392 is still would make more torque, all a scat okc would have to do is get a tune and it’s back to being slower than a 392 for the v6 even after a supercharger

    • @fire398017
      @fire398017 4 года назад +1

      No, there is no "chip." And no, a V6 will not run with a stock RT with those mods. Like the other guy said you you'd have to go forced induction to make up for the 90hp and 140+lb ft difference at the wheels. And it will always sound like whatever the hell those v6's sound like. A sewing machine maybe.

    2013 Mustang 3.7 owner here, and I can assure you that the 3.6 Challenger is no slouch. I ended up with one as a rental last summer after my Mustang incurred minor rear bumper damage (spoiled li'l rich girl was texting on her cell phone & hit my car). The Challenger is a big car, but that 3.6 gets it moving just fine. • @jaredlemieux212
      @jaredlemieux212 6 лет назад +14

      Mike Gee as I stated in my original comment. An RT will always walk away. But for a normal daily driver that never sees a track, it’s not that big of a difference. I bought my car for the style. There’s nowhere anywhere near where I live to get out of traffic and open up in my car or an RT. So I went with looks and got what I wanted. For my price point it was a bare bone no frills RT or my SXT with the upgraded wheels, super track pack with the performance suspension, launch mode (which even in an SXT is fun) and the large uConnect and paddle shifters. I got a good deal on my car and I love it. Will I go to the track? No. Do I think it’s a super fast muscle car? No. But I like it. And for the real world difference in performance, I made the right choice for me

    I have a 2018 Dodge Challenger SXT so let me clear something up, when you push the sport mode and the flag comes on and you ramp down on the accelerator when it hits a certain RPM like it did in the video If you Google it it's supposed to, when it's in sport mode what it does it's allowing you a certain amount of time to decide whether to come down off of it or give it the gas again had you press down on the accelerator the RPM's would have changed and you would have been flying like a bat out of hell. I thought the same thing and I even called Dodge to find out what was going on about that. Also go into your settings because you can turn off the normal steering and put it on more of a sport mode. You will also notice that when you put it in sport mode you can actually hear the motor sucking the hell out of the air into it, you'll feel the throttle response is tighter. I agree lot of people has downsized the V-6 Challenger and never really put it through its paces when actually this car for a V6 is a beast

  • @zacharymartin4861
    @zacharymartin4861 6 лет назад +42

    The car holding its current gear when you let off the throttle is normal. It does that when sport mode is off too, but to a lesser extent. It's waiting for you to get on it again. If you dont get on it, it calms the hell down hahaha.

      My 2018 Challenger V6 does the same thing, and I understood but I read someone else's comment but I understood that once you put it in the sport mode it does that to give you time to decide either to come down off of it or the ramp down on the throttle. So I went down on the throttle while it was pausing at about 5000 RPMs and oh my God, once you do that it'll automatically come down but then you're accelerating like you would not believe

    It holds gear in sport mode for track purpose. Shifting in a corner will put you in the rhubarb real quick. With a manual you'd never shift, hit the brakes, the clutch, etc in a corner. You want that feature if you want to go fast in any other way than straight.

      its a comparative thing and not necessarily a matter of just looking at HP numbers. Muscle cars of old were just affordable cars strapped with massive engines (for the time) that focused on straight-line performance for the most part. V8s offered that massive displacement and went hand in hand with the imagery of an american muscle car. unfortunately a 3.6LV6 making 305hp is comparatively not a massive engine and it doesn't really have the punch that the more performance oriented trims have. The muscle car class itself these days is kind of wishy washy. Mustangs and Camaros are the pony boys of old but alot of people believe them to be more "sports cars" than anything based on their design choices and theyre more overall performance orientation. Some people are reluctant to call even the V8 trims of those cars true "muscle cars" depending on who u talk to. I know people that call the turbo 4 of the mustang an abomination. They hate it. Personally i think its kind of cool although i can understand it is a bit disrespectful to the cars heritage. Point being that definitions change with time and are not rigid if you want to throw them into the american muscle car class of today as many do. Times change engine technologies change and the definitions themselves can change. The V6 challenger certainly looks like a muscle car and the unknowing average person seeing it will think that but for true muscle car enthusiasts it doesnt fit the bill. Personally idgaf what you call it. its fun to driver around town looks great and women love to take a ride. fits my bill lol.

      The time honored definition of a "muscle car" is/was any car that had at least 1 hp per 13# of body weight.
      A 3500# car was a muscle car if it had 269 hp, or more. A 3750# car needed to have 288 hp. A 4000# car
      needed 308 hp. A 4250# car needed
      327 hp. As you can see, a broad range of cars back then were muscle cars if they had 300 hp. Go find a trucking company with a scale, or a landfill, or even a state DOT on an Interstate hwy and see if they will weigh your V6 Challenger/Charger.
      It just might be right around 13:1

    I believe it is normal. Police cars do the same thing. The engine keeps it in that gear in case your gonna punch it again. Like if you were going into a turn and took your foot off the accelerator then made the turn and hit the gas again, you lose any momentum.

      HEMIHEAD R/T, I have a base Challenger SXT. Sport mode primarily revs the engine to a higher RPM, thus the weird revving and different transmission shifts. I would love to of had a V8, but I can only afford the V6, the fuel costs, and the insurance associated with it. It's a decent car, considering that it's a base model V6. Sport mode works better in WOT, as opposed to stop and go traffic.

    Just got a 21 sxt. Wanted to get away from 700$ payments and 50k loans. I never considered a challenger till I test drove a black sxt plus. I liked it a lot, but it was at a sketchy buy here place. So that didn’t happen.
    Ended up at dodge and got a 21 bright red sxt. Looks so clean mean and flashy. Just straight piping it would help a lot. It’s actually a lot of fun to drive and it’s comfortable. For a 2dr “sports car” You don’t feel like your sitting on the. It’s pretty snappy and for me it’s fast. Couple months ago I sold my truck back to Toyota. Tacoma off-road package. Those are nice but knows to be slow and sluggish. So maybe it’s just the big difference to me. But I’m happy with it so far. I’m getting rid of all the chrome asap 🤢🤮. Red car black accents 😍.

  • @mattm9087

    when you put it in sports mode it is very reluctant to shift. It almost always wants to let the car hang there. I really only drive the sports mode in the auto stick b/c oh how wonky the automatic behaves sometimes. It's like it asks you are you gonna keep flooring it or should i shift and put it into a cruising gear? totally normal. Just the automatic doing automatic things. That being said modern automatics "learn" your driving habits and adjust too them. So the issues tend to go away but then sometimes you get new ones. ok why did you short shift into second when i have my foot dam near planted. oooh cus last time we drove i was running errands. Moral of the story if you want more fun and control just slap it into the autostick mode and the transmission goes back to butter smooth.

Reason why I'm asking is because I haven't had mine that long, I decided to take it out on the interstate and it was a straight enough shot that I gunned it. I am not lying I got it up to over a hundred forty miles an hour and backed off on it I didn't know whether it was going to kick back or not. My question is is there a speed limiter on these because mine's the V6 also and it wasn't slowing down even after going over a hundred forty miles an hour

      Electric cars are not more powerful...So a VW Electric Golf is quicker ??? The average electric car runs 7-11 second 0-60 and 16-19 second 1/4 mile..
      You talk like all cars are 800 hp Tesla's ,even the base Tesla isnt as quick as a 5,7 Hemi ,close but not as quick ! Tesla was made by the Government(all government funded) to make people accept electric cars...Guess what,if we switched to all electric we would be alloted so many hours of electricity to charge and higher mileage is what people want and to get 500 miles per charge you need a less powerful electric car..So 11 second 0-60 and 19 second 1/4 mile is what we would have ! Not a high performance Tesla ! Thats the Hellcat of electric cars.

    Muscle cars are rear drive,V8 and 2 doors..
    Back in 1969 a Charger with a 318 or 383 2 barrel wasnt a muscle car ! The 383 Magnum 4bbl,440 Magnum and 426 Hemi were Muscle cars ! FYI : add headers and tune the carbs on a 426 hemi they ran in the 11's in the 1/4 mile..440's were 12's and 383's were high 12's to 13's..I was there and thats what we ran..Dads new 440 6 barrel Cuda ran low 12's and after headers,carb tweaks and 2 weeks old it ran high 11's..Old slicks were as sticky as a modern 245 radial tire ! 8 and 10 inch slicks we had ! My stock 68 Charger RT 440/727/3.23 gear ran 12.80's all stock,low miles and not that old of a car then,was basically new !
