Hoping for their release. They have spent 35 years in Prison. Becoming advocates for sexually abused children. They have done great work behind bars. They are not who they were 35 years ago. As a Menudo fan from before Ricky Martin joined it breaks my heart hearing what they went through and endured. I have never felt like the Menendez brothers should have been sentenced to life without parole. Things never set right when I watched and heard the evidence and the case from both sides. May any wrongs be righted.
I'm not speaking about Perez but lots of people who claim they should be in jail will always say the mother didn't do anything so they can't use the abuse claim for her. I think many people that pass judgement didn't even watch the trial. Again not referring to Perez.

I believe the brothers when they say they were abused and when they say it was "them or us" situation.... Ok, the murders were extremaly violent but when the "glass is full...." 🤷♀️ I think they should set them free now. 10-15 years was enough in my opinion. This trial was a complete injustice! The sentence imposed was more torture for these boys! In the 80’s people weren’t open to a male being SA/R!!! These boys weren’t lying and had to save their own lives! Kitty did in fact SA Lyle. I cannot believe the third jury had zero compassion and weren’t given all the horrific details! I truly hope the media leaves Lyle and Erik ALONE! They deserve to live in peace and happiness for the first time. Life outside of prison is going to be a very difficult adjustment as it is.
SA was accepted against everyone, not just boys. My grandmother said, "back in my day we didn't speak about such things." SA was silenced against both boys and girls.
They have served 30 years, and seem to be different from before; I feel they have done their time and worked on themselves, which is the idea. Release them. They paid their debt, and are not a danger to anyone.
At the bare minimum they should be retried because they were sentenced without being those to fully defend their actions and the abuse of the Menudo brother and letter demonstrate this.

The envelope containing those photographs had their mother's handwriting on it that said "Erik's 6th birthday". - There was an unexplained injury to the back of Erik's throat (posterior pharynx, the uvula, and the soft palate) at 7 years old which was consistent with oral r*pe. In 1977, Erik was admitted to the E.R. There is a record from the following day from the Princeton Medical Center. It said: Hurt posterior pharynx, uvula, and soft palate. Healing well. Symptomatic treatment. (Dr. Kerry English testified that this type of injury is an indication of oral copulation in children. Nowadays, dentists are trained to look for this injury in children to be able to detect and report child abuse.) - Both of their medical records had many symptoms that were normally seen in children who are sexually abused -BROTHERS TELLING COUSINS ABOUT THE ABUSE AS CHILDREN °cousin Diane Vandermolen was told by Lyle when he was 9 years old that he was “afraid his dad was going to come into his room” and that “he and his dad had been touching each other down there”. Diane went to get Lyle’s mother and tell her but Kitty said Lyle was making things up and convinced Diane that nothing was wrong. °Erik’s cousin Andy Cano testified that when Erik was 12 and Andy was 10, Erik had told him that his dad is "massaging his dick" and was trying to find out if these massages are normal. He also told Andy that "these massages are beginning to hurt." -ERIK’S LETTER TO HIS COUSIN : After Andy Cano passed away, his mother found a letter in his belongings that 17 year old Erik had written to him some months before killing his parents. In that letter, Erik mentions the ongoing sexual abuse: -TESTIMONY OF COUSINS WHO LIVED AT THE MENENDEZ HOUSE °Two other cousins, Alan and Kathleen who spent summers at the house said the dad would take the boys to their bedroom and forbid the cousins from going "down the hall". °Brian said he heard cries and groans coming from the bedroom. He said that Kitty would turn the TV volume really high and stop him from going upstairs to see what happened. °Kathy and Brian also testified that Jose and the boys took showers together. They shouldn’t have been jailed for so long in the first place, if at all! Imagine the court being allowed to say that those boys couldn’t be raped because they didn’t have the right equipment!! How horrific! If they were girls they would never have gone to jail. The world didn’t believe boys could be abused and tortured. 😢
This is why I don’t like when people hate too much on Netflix dramatizing their story or other serious stories. Yes, the drama wasn’t 100% accurate…..but they have to make it entertaining. The popular series gives the case popularity, which gives the brothers more support and thus puts pressure on people with power.
I would agree but the problem also is that in this case there was loads of concrete evidence of the SA (which doesn't happen often) but the drama didn't quite show that such as the naked pictures of the boys genitals taken by the parents when they were 6 and 8 years old,the medical records showing the bruising and injuries in the throats when the brothers were children, the multiple accusations by multiple people of SA done by José, the child pornography José had and showed to his family how proud he was of it, and so much more I can give you as strong evidence and the story of all these people the witnesses and the brothers never in 40 years changed, the amount of details ect.. were all not properly shown, or decided not to be included, and loads of scenes made up for hollywood that were never told but indeed those were the theories the public (who didn't know them) had at the time. Loads of viewers do not know that the show isn't accurate and based on theories giving your telling the stories of real people. Lots of viewers took the story as it was told and ran off with it which is extremely damaging to the case. You have people who have not seen the hours upon hours of this trial or done any real research spewing hatred and nasty things or simply false stuff(and it's a vicious circle bc other people see these lies and run with them) So I think in both ways, it did give the case more publicity and attention by the higher ups but also loads of negative opinions of people who have the loudest voices and know the least but aren't willing to even hear others who have done research out, so all in all the director was extremely wrong and made loads of money of it but the menenedez movement did get stronger in a way, just wished the director went to talk to them and hear them out before airing their story out to the world of all generations. My naive self does not believe we would even be having this conversation unless there weren't plans to release them. If they wanted to keep them in prison why set up a new hearing? They would ignore it as hard as possible in hopes public opinion would forget about them. I know in my heart and keep praying they will be released as soon as possible. It's just a matter of time!

The abuse DID make a difference in their first trial!! Two juries, one for each brother, found themselves unable to agree and resulted in a hung jury. The women in the juries agreed it was manslaughter. But the men said 1st degree murder. So it was declared a mistrial. The second trial had only one jury and the same judge presiding, and he ruled that they could not use their defense, the brothers were not allowed to present the abuse, and the jurors were only given the option to find them guilty or not guilty of first-degree murder. Because whether or not they killed their parents was not the question. The jury was only able to find them guilty and they were sentenced to life without the possibility of parole. The prosecution in the trial stated that boys and men could not be raped because they did not have the “ equipment” to be raped. And back then people believed that a father could not abuse his sons in that way. Which is TOTAL BULLSHIT!! if these boys had been girls back then they would have been out of prison 20 years ago. if this trial happened in current times, I believe they would still be convicted of manslaughter and only sentenced to maybe 10 years. They were treated completely unfairly and the fact that the brothers were separated when they went to prison was cruel and unusual punishment. Thank God they were reunited in 2018. I truly hope that they are resentenced and released the things that they have done in prison to help others is enormous and the fact that over 20 of their family members from both sides of their family want them released it pretty much unprecedented. They have been model prisoners from day one and have continued that for almost 35 years. These men deserve to be out of prison. I have been following the story for 35 years and I pray every day that they are released.
Follow up - The new evidence that has come forth, the letter Eric wrote to his cousin about the abuse, eight months prior, and the Menudo member has signed an affidavit stating that he was drugged and raped by Jose Menendez on three separate occasions. The prosecution kept saying that the boys were lying yet over 100 of their relatives testifying to the abuse in the first trial! Now there is proof that Jose Menendez was a monster, and unfortunately, their mother knew about the abuse and didn’t do anything to help her sons. The boys have expressed nothing but remorse since it happened. And yes, they went on a spending spree after the murders, and it has been stated multiple times by both brothers that they were not written out of the Will that they did not do this for money because they had the money that this was completely about being children that were brutally abused their entire lives coming to a boiling point, and they truly believed that their parents were going to kill them because Erik told Lyle about the abuse, and he had been threatened with knives to his throat on multiple occasions that they would be killed if they said anything. That was coming from a man who held up his two year old son and punched him closed fist in the face, multiple times, which was witnessed by family members. In both of their trials, the prosecution was unable to find a single human being that would take the stand and say anything nice about either of those parents. The fact that the abuse was not allowed to be brought up in the second trial is absolute bullshit. the DA was more concerned about getting a conviction after the Rodney King verdict and the O.J. Simpson verdict, so set it up to where a conviction was secured, and the boys were railroaded. This injustice needs to be rectified.

Hopefully not a new trial- I dotn want it to become a circus and I don't want the brothers to have to relive what happened to them. But a resentencing is fair enough. Actually at this point, just let them out to be with their families this Thanksgiving because they overdid manslaughter time (11-22 yrs.) They've been incarcerated for 33 years so technically they don't even need a resentencing. Just to be let out. 33 is enough and they've been graduating with a degree and helping people behind bars.

Having said all that I highly doubt the brothers will reoffend after release. The murders were definitely a direct result of their upbringing and ruthless parenting.
Because you've been abused, does not give you the right to murder your parents or anyone else. I know these guys have spent a long time in prison now, but there are others in prison who has done less and have lost their life, are on death row and have got life. This is about 2 brothers who were savagely raped by their father often and their mother knew it was happening. They shot their parents because the father said he would kill them AND they have spent over 30 years in jail so far. I have never felt like the Menendez brothers should have been sentenced to life without parole. Things never set right when I watched and heard the evidence and the case from both sides. This trial was a complete injustice! The sentence imposed was more torture for these boys! In the 80’s people weren’t open to a male being SA/R!!! These boys weren’t lying and had to save their own lives! Kitty did in fact SA Lyle. I cannot believe the third jury had zero compassion and weren’t given all the horrific details! I truly hope the media leaves Lyle and Erik ALONE! They deserve to live in peace and happiness for the first time. Life outside of prison is going to be a very difficult adjustment as it is.
SA was accepted against everyone, not just boys. My grandmother said, "back in my day we didn't speak about such things." SA was silenced against both boys and girls.

-Pictures were found of the brothers' naked bodies at 6 and 8 years old which had their heads cut off and focused on their genitals. 6 year old Erik apears to have an erection in one of the photos.
The envelope containing those photographs had their mother's handwriting on it that said "Erik's 6th birthday".
- There was an unexplained injury to the back of Erik's throat (posterior pharynx, the uvula, and the soft palate) at 7 years old which was consistent with oral r*pe.
In 1977, Erik was admitted to the E.R. There is a record from the following day from the Princeton Medical Center. It said:
Hurt posterior pharynx, uvula, and soft palate. Healing well. Symptomatic treatment.
(Dr. Kerry English testified that this type of injury is an indication of oral copulation in children. Nowadays, dentists are trained to look for this injury in children to be able to detect and report child abuse.)
- Both of their medical records had many symptoms that were normally seen in children who are sexually abused
-BROTHERS TELLING COUSINS ABOUT THE ABUSE AS CHILDREN
°cousin Diane Vandermolen was told by Lyle when he was 9 years old that he was “afraid his dad was going to come into his room” and that “he and his dad had been touching each other down there”. Diane went to get Lyle’s mother and tell her but Kitty said Lyle was making things up and convinced Diane that nothing was wrong.
°Erik’s cousin Andy Cano testified that when Erik was 12 and Andy was 10, Erik had told him that his dad is "massaging his dick" and was trying to find out if these massages are normal. He also told Andy that "these massages are beginning to hurt."

This is why I don’t like when people hate too much on Netflix dramatizing their story or other serious stories.
Yes, the drama wasn’t 100% accurate…..but they have to make it entertaining. The popular series gives the case popularity, which gives the brothers more support and thus puts pressure on people with power.
I would agree but the problem also is that in this case there was loads of concrete evidence of the SA (which doesn't happen often) but the drama didn't quite show that such as the naked pictures of the boys genitals taken by the parents when they were 6 and 8 years old,the medical records showing the bruising and injuries in the throats when the brothers were children, the multiple accusations by multiple people of SA done by José, the child pornography José had and showed to his family how proud he was of it, and so much more I can give you as strong evidence and the story of all these people the witnesses and the brothers never in 40 years changed, the amount of details ect.. were all not properly shown, or decided not to be included, and loads of scenes made up for hollywood that were never told but indeed those were the theories the public (who didn't know them) had at the time. Loads of viewers do not know that the show isn't accurate and based on theories giving your telling the stories of real people. Lots of viewers took the story as it was told and ran off with it which is extremely damaging to the case. You have people who have not seen the hours upon hours of this trial or done any real research spewing hatred and nasty things or simply false stuff(and it's a vicious circle bc other people see these lies and run with them) So I think in both ways, it did give the case more publicity and attention by the higher ups but also loads of negative opinions of people who have the loudest voices and know the least but aren't willing to even hear others who have done research out, so all in all the director was extremely wrong and made loads of money of it but the menenedez movement did get stronger in a way, just wished the director went to talk to them and hear them out before airing their story out to the world of all generations. My naive self does not believe we would even be having this conversation unless there weren't plans to release them.

-JOSE SHOWING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY : One of their neighbors testified that Jose showed dinner guests a movie containing child pornography and that he found it entertaining.
- SCHOOL ESSAY "I WILL CHANGE YOUR VERDICT" : 14 year old Lyle wrote a school essay, “I will change your verdict”, about a man who's sentenced to die for killing a child molester to protect a 12 year old boy. Lyle found out his father was molesting 12 year old Erik for the first time when he was 14. (I can give you the essay if anybody reads this)
- GAY MAGAZINES : Someone who helped the family move testified that she had found pornographic gay magazines in Jose's belongings. (I don't believe this is evidence of Jose being a child molester. Just included it since it was mentioned in the trial.)
-EXPERT TESTIMONY : The brothers were both evaluated in jail by some of the most well respected child abuse, rape and trauma experts and criminologists in the country and they all concluded that they had both been severely psychologically maltreated, molested and abused:
-MENUDO SEXUAL ABUSE ALLEGATIONS: Jose Menendez was responsible for a boy band called Menudo while working at RCA records. Menudo members weren't recruited simply for their talent, once a boy hit puberty, or reached the age of 16, they were removed from the group and replaced by younger performers. Many former members of the band later said that they were sexually abused during their time in Menudo.
After 3 decades, one of the former band members, Roy Rosselló, spoke about Jose Menendez sexually abusing him in the 2023 documentary 'Menendez + Menudo: Boys Betrayed', Another member of the band, Angelo Garcia, detailed the extensive physical and sexual abuse he experienced during his two-year stint in the group.
I quote "I was raped a series of times, and that was the way that predators would take advantage of me"
Angelo recounts being plied with alcohol and passing out. When he woke up,

THE FINAL DEAL BETWEEN WOODS AND MENEDEZ HAPPEND 6 YEARS BEFORE THE MURDERS: On this particular date, Menendez allegedly severely injured one of Woods' girls with whips and various sex toys.
The girl came back with scratches and bruises all over, Woods decided to stop taking his calls.
- OTHER WITNESSES : There were many behaviors witnessed by teachers, coaches, friends and family members which were consistent with sexually abused children such as
°extreme dissociating
°bedwetting as a teenager
°hypersexualized behavior at a young age
°playing with stuffed animals up until the age of 17
°extremely high anxiety
°losing hair at 14
°sensitivity to touch
°being uncomfortable talking about sex in any regard
°acting out behavior
°frequent night terrors and nightmares
°unexplained temper tantrums
°psychosomatic complaints of stomachaches and headaches
(I only focused on the se*ual abuse, not the psychological abuse that also happened, all these stories have not changed one bit over 40 years)
They are guilty for the murders because they confess, the trial was about finding out the reason committing their murder.
The abuse DID make a difference in their first trial!! Two juries, one for each brother, found themselves unable to agree and resulted in a hung jury. The women in the juries agreed it was manslaughter. But the men said 1st degree murder. So it was declared a mistrial. The second trial had only one jury and the same judge presiding, and he ruled that they could not use their defense, the brothers were not allowed to present the abuse, and the jurors were only given the option to find them guilty or not guilty of first-degree murder. Because whether or not they killed their parents was not the question. The jury was only able to find them guilty and they were sentenced to life without the possibility of parole. The prosecution in the trial stated that boys and men could not be raped because they did not have the “ equipment” to be raped. And back then people believed that a father could not abuse his sons in that way. Which is TOTAL BULLSHIT!! if these boys had been girls back then they would have been out of prison 20 years ago. if this trial happened in current times, I believe they would still be convicted of manslaughter and only sentenced to maybe 10 years. They were treated completely unfairly and the fact that the brothers were separated when they went to prison was cruel and unusual punishment. Thank God they were reunited in 2018. I truly hope that they are resentenced and released the things that they have done in prison to help others is enormous and the fact that over 20 of their family members from both sides of their family want them released it pretty much unprecedented. They have been model prisoners from day one and have continued that for almost 35 years. These men deserve to be out of prison. I have been following the story for 35 years and I pray every day that they are released.
Follow up - The new evidence that has come forth, the letter Eric wrote to his cousin about the abuse, eight months prior, and the Menudo member has signed an affidavit stating that he was drugged and raped by Jose Menendez on three separate occasions. The prosecution kept saying that the boys were lying yet over 100 of their relatives testifying to the abuse in the first trial! Now there is proof that Jose Menendez was a monster, and unfortunately, their mother knew about the abuse and didn’t do anything to help her sons. The boys have expressed nothing but remorse since it happened. And yes, they went on a spending spree after the murders, and it has been stated multiple times by both brothers that they were not written out of the Will that they did not do this for money because they had the money that this was completely about being children that were brutally abused their entire lives coming to a boiling point, and they truly believed that their parents were going to kill them because Erik told Lyle about the abuse, and he had been threatened with knives to his throat on multiple occasions that they would be killed if they said anything. That was coming from a man who held up his two year old son and punched him closed fist in the face, multiple times, which was witnessed by family members. In both of their trials, the prosecution was unable to find a single human being that would take the stand and say anything nice about either of those parents. The fact that the abuse was not allowed to be brought up in the second trial is absolute bullshit. the DA was more concerned about getting a conviction after the Rodney King verdict and the O.J. Simpson verdict, so set it up to where a conviction was secured, and the boys were railroaded. This injustice needs to be rectified.

I'm not trying to be rude here but there is lots of concrete evidence of how cruel these parents were not just the letter, I mean nude pictures taking of the brothers by the parents when they were 6 and 8 years old.José had loads of child pornograhpy in his house he was proud of, the medical records showing injuiries and bruising in the throats of Erik when he was young and so much more This does a lot to the mind of children to basically be abused the moment they were born, they did not really plan it, Erik was supposed to go off to college like Lyle did(which he wanted to leave the house) When Erik was 18 and about to graduate his father changed his mind and told erik he was not allowed and needed to stay at home (bc you know why), Erik called Lyle told him the abuse still went on, Lyle went to the parents to tell them they can't do it anymore, there was a big fight where the mom admitted to knowing and not caring and that's when the brothers decided to kill them and two days later they did pretending to have went to the cinema's which isn't such a thought out plan tbh

-Pictures were found of the brothers' naked bodies at 6 and 8 years old which had their heads cut off and focused on their genitals. 6 year old Erik apears to have an erection in one of the photos.
The envelope containing those photographs had their mother's handwriting on it that said "Erik's 6th birthday".
- There was an unexplained injury to the back of Erik's throat (posterior pharynx, the uvula, and the soft palate) at 7 years old which was consistent with oral r*pe.
In 1977, Erik was admitted to the E.R. There is a record from the following day from the Princeton Medical Center. It said:
Hurt posterior pharynx, uvula, and soft palate. Healing well. Symptomatic treatment.
(Dr. Kerry English testified that this type of injury is an indication of oral copulation in children. Nowadays, dentists are trained to look for this injury in children to be able to detect and report child abuse.)

Hopefully not a new trial- I dotn want it to become a circus and I don't want the brothers to have to relive what happened to them. But a resentencing is fair enough. Actually at this point, just let them out to be with their families this Thanksgiving because they overdid manslaughter time (11-22 yrs.) They've been incarcerated for 33 years so technically they don't even need a resentencing. Just to be let out. 33 is enough and they've been graduating with a degree and helping people behind bars.

Having said all that I highly doubt the brothers will reoffend after release. The murders were definitely a direct result of their upbringing and ruthless parenting.

Because you've been abused, does not give you the right to murder your parents or anyone else. If that were the case, all of diddys victims are within their rights to murder him or any victim of abusers. Where will it end? I know these guys have spent a long time in prison now, but there are others in prison who has done less and have lost their life, are on death row and have got life. It is considered abuse if you smack your child on the bum for doing wrong. Does that give them the right to be murdered? It just opens up a whole can of worms imo. x

So much information is resurfacing…the Menudo saying he was raped by the father and he also said that menudos manager used to take the new members to Jose first, do,we think it was for cookies 😮😮 a madam who went to jail when caught in 1993 said Jose was a client that requested very very young girls and then abused them he tried to strangle one of them, she dropped him as a client…he got what he deserved these brothers did humanity a favor..let them go home

I know U like to talk like a big blockbuster movie has just been released there Perez BUT THESE ARE PEOPLES LIVES. This is about 2 brothers who were savagely raped by their father often and their mother knew it was happening. They shot their parents because the father said he would kill them AND they have spent over 30 years in jail so far. Even recently so, so many people have made comments in youtube comments sections saying that their father once worked for Jose ( the father) or they had once met Jose and he was a brutal and vindictive man.......I have NEVER heard of so many people who now work for a company that Jose used to work as a senior exec or had business dealing with him and EVERYONE said he was a disgusting human being......Wow, just wow.......Too many stories from others who knew Jose to prove the brothers were not lying about their father.

No one is saying they didn't deserve prison, they admitted to killing but they have now spend over 35 years there giving the concrete evidence of all the abuse by both parents the sentence they got is unfair especially how the 2nd trial went (the 1st was fair) the sentence of life without parole is absurd giving how cruel both those parents were (the amount of evidence on them is crazy) You got to understand that José was extremely rich and powerful back in the 90s the narrative was a lot different surrounding SA and the police would have done nothing when 2 'rich' kids came to them about the all powerful José . You are saying they were adults when Erik factually was not far of it and mentally they both were very behind and still kids. You got to understand growing up in that household with those cruel parents and being abused from the moment you were born really sets you back in your mind, lots of kids even think it's all normal what is happening till one point, abused kids have not developed the same way as we did
