Well In case you wanna know more about the two of them, basically Eggman created a glitch/virus which killed and destroyed everything and everyone on Sonic’s world, leaving only sonic (which is now blind and mute due to the incident) and Eggman, but now eggman is cognizant with the wish to escape the game and meet the outside world. Basically post mortem (the song) is a representation of a final battle between sonic and Eggman with each section of the song having its own vibe, but then sonic eventually dies and Eggman now holds control of sonic and of the entire game. that’s basically it lol
