    Couldn't agree more! The 6 speed manual V8 is the most fun car I've ever driven. Classic and sporty - personality in spades IMHO. Thanks for posting, it's always great to know there are others out there that love this car as much as i do.

    I have two e39s and an e46, all with the glorious M54 engine. One manual. Two automatics. 2.8L and 3.0L.

    I just put a 420g 6 speed in my 540i - absolutely wonderful machine. Classic looks, quality and more affordable than anything

    I have had a 535 and a 530
    Completely different motors. The 530 is great for cruising on trips. Good gas mileage and effortless at 80. It is not a street racer. You can really feel the torque difference between the 530 and 535. They are both great but different.

      Interesting, yea the 535i and 540i feel completely different i can see how the 530i could feel different as well the 530i and the turbo diesel are the only e34s i haven’t driven yet

    I should do the video response to this titled "Why almost nobody should own an E34", because this car is not for the faint of heart or should I say, the light of wallet?
    It does offer a great driving experience that more modern cars can't seem to replicate, but the cost of keeping one well-sorted is comparatively astronomical. If you are an above average DIY mechanic, you can probably address 60% of what you'll need to do in a given year, but its the other 40% that will break you.

      I mean like i said the parts are super cheap for these cars. Any nearly 30 year old cars will need a rebuild of pretty much everything. If your not into DIY or don’t want to spend money on labor most 30 year old cars will be a nightmare for you.

      What yearly maintenance are you speaking of sir?

    • @antton9623
      @antton9623 22 дня назад

      Bro you are talking out of your ass. It's incredibly cheap to maintain, cheaper than my brother's Honda, Subaru or my earlier Toyota. And it's so simple that even I, a well BELOW average DIY tinkerer, can do most by myself.

    If you are talking about uro front end suspension kit, i heard a lot of nightmares about that brand. Also would of been good to talk coil-overs and how they require welding. Btw its not true that Mercedes didn’t have a luxury sport sedan in the 90s the e class was produced til 95 same exact year as the last year for bmws e34 chassis. They had a legendary w124 e500 which was a beast in itself and straight competitor to the e34 m5, it came with a Porsche suspension, wide body kit, 5.0v8 etc. not to mention the e60 w124. Good Video overall ,but you missed a few key points. -From a 95 540i-6 owner.

      Uro in general is pretty trash was not talking about that, i have another video where i change out the suspension on my 540i and highlight my opinion on coil-overs vs shocks/springs and some other bits ive changed out. There are definitely some special Mercedes that try to compete in the larger sports sedan segment in that era but they pretty hard to find and expensive at least in the US in comparison to the e34 which is pretty vastly available. Thanks for the feedback either way!

    Im restoring a e34 (major body work, all the lines, brakes etc etc). it has lowest possible engine atm but even at measely 85kw its still fun to drive. I will be upgrading engine when all the body and mechanical issues are resolved though. Funny you mention, I'm looking for m30 to rebuild also :D

    Older BMWs like the 850i/CSI and the E34/E39 540i look good still and the interior is simple yet appealing.

    Is it worth swapping a 540 auto trans to manual for the extra 3k on top of the 6k for the 540?

    • @Keenan35i
      @Keenan35i  4 месяца назад

      Maybe depends on the condition and milage, see if an HE53 would be cheaper then the swap similar spec.

    I had a 1989 e34 535 for 11 years. By today's availability of direct injection saving gas and making power, these cars are hardly "pretty modern". They are have strong body construction, but the original engines are archaic today. So I would buy another one for a restomod, but only with an engine swap considered. With this being said - there are other attractive options as well. Once again: I had this car for 11 years, been very well versed in them.

      I had a 535i for years as well, probably the oldest engine design in the e34 line up for sure being an M30 car. The 95 525i have a much more modern design with Vanos thats good on fuel and great for turbo charging.

    I bought an 1995 E34 530i 6 speed in 2003. I loved it from day 1. Thousands of $ repairs over the years, but it still looked like new and ran like new. I "gave" it to my daughter for $3500, but she only paid me $1500. And neither she nor her husband use it. How do I get it back?
