Can’t say it enough but this is truly the best shipwreck channel on RUclips. I don’t understand why Big Ol’ Boats, Oceanliner Designs, Part Time Exploer etc. get so much more attention when this channel is just as good. Don’t get me wrong, i like their channels too. I just really enjoy the fact that you consistently upload shipwreck stories that I have never heard of before which says a lot. Hopefully you get the credit for the great work you do!
I was subscribed to this channel on a different RUclips account and somehow i got unsubscribed a few months ago, its happened with other channels also, anyways im glad im back, thanks for the great videos 👍
It always amazes me the number of times vessels have collided and one or both continue on without a concerted effort to communicate with the other ship. I understand in a storm or extreme fog it might not be possible, or when a captain instantly knows they need to dash for shore to attempt a controlled grounding, but otherwise I’d expect them to try checking on each other.
It does certainly seem like it would be common politeness to do so. Captain Durham does say that he was shocked when Le Lyonnais kept going rather than stopping to speak with them.
Hypothermia is never mentioned by the survivors but that is almost certainly what claimed two of them. The effects of the frostbite on all of them was vivid though and caught the public eye when they reached the shore.
@@theshipwreckarchives I guess if there were winds. Cold ocean water will kill you but I don’t see how you get frostbite. That was my issue with the news statement.
Hello, we are a two person project. We will be the first to admit that we are not professionals in any capacity, it is something we are doing for our own enjoyment. Unfortunately this means that alternative voices are not available, nor are we able to hire one as we do not make a profit on this project. We are sorry to hear our content is not for you as a result but we welcome you to explore our sources and discover these stories for yourself.
We have no plans to use AI at this time. We feel that to have a narrator that does not understand that it is speaking of horror and tragedy would not do justice or honor to the people who experienced these events. We understand that this decision will not please everyone but for us this is a matter of personal integrity.
We have modified the intro several times over the years based on feedback but any time we have asked if we should remove it completely, it has divided our audience, with a skew towards keeping it. The female voice has proven equally divisive with some people asking us to give her even more speaking parts and others asking us to remove the character entirely. We are always open to suggestions on how we can improve and we will continue to monitor feedback. If we hear more conclusively from one side or another we will adjust accordingly. I don't know if it helps but the intro generally ends about one minute in if it helps you enjoy the stories more.
The intro is 17 seconds, the whole video is 1,551 seconds. If 1.1% of the video ruins the whole thing for you then it’s a “you” problem. The rest of the production is such quality it should easily balance things out.
It's a foggy morning in Portland, Oregon. All I need is a cup of coffee and a shipwreck video...🌹⚓
@@miapdx503 It amazes me how international Portland was 150 years ago. Cool wrecks too.
And some tranq
Yes ……maybe a Irish coffee and a campfire

Every single time I hear the story of French shipwreck, especially that era, first thing I think of is the Raft Lé Medúse. 😊🎉
Fortunately as bad as many shipwreck stories get, few rise to the horrors of Le Meduse
it could have been a dead head or floating tree trunk. possible anyway.
It took a great deal of nerve to travel by sea. It still does, to some degree.
Frostbite? Hypothermia for sure.

Get better voices. This is why I don't listen to your videos. Sorry just being honest

@@theshipwreckarchives that's to bad. I will unsubscribe. Wish you luck 🍀
Narrator is ok, but the intro with the woman is bad and turns me off for the rest of the story.
Please at least get a better intro
