#733's MK3 Cortina (HUE160N) appears to be a total waste of a decent Cortina. Looks incredibly solid and it was last MOT'd in 2008. Shame people like Pete C go to all the effort to restore rotboxes when they could've started with one as solid as that. I'm all for racing rotters, I've even done it myself and admittedly it was that rotten it failed scrutineering on it, but the point is a rock solid classic no matter what it is should be saved as they're almost none existent. Every classic car I've had my hands on has been rotten as a pear and my road car had 27 patches welded ontop of rust. I could only dream of working with a rust free or near rust free classic motor. I remember seeing a near immaculate Cortina Crusader being built for this meeting that was still MOT'd, the bloke was offered a 4 figure sum but wasn't interested in selling. Can't remember who it was now but his car didn't even last the 1st heat it did lol.
Me and a friend use to go to Boston PD Promotions and watched a Mk 4 Tina all the way through in bangers then at the end of the night went and bought the boot off him that survived the night for my mates tina
They fabricate a tank that occupies the free space around the engine. Filled to the brim with water it should last the entire race before it boils too much. Assuming the car lasts that long...... These cars are probably getting so fragile the drivers know a follow-in is going to destroy them as well as the target.
